@satorres82 its actually less extreme than riding a roller coaster or even a horse. think about it in terms of accelerations. an aircraft in glide mode has no net force, therefore no acceleration. it's a very smooth ride.

@crosaphiso1 the best advise I can give you is call a hang gliding school in or near area. I would not suggest building one without prior knowledge or experience. I took lessons over29 years ago from So Calif School of Hang Gliding. (now called windsports(dot)com). I learned from Joe Greblo and Rich Grisby back in the day.)

@manometre the same could happen if the hang glide touch the hard surface in landing...anyway, if you do it in a good way there is no risk, they take maximum speed and groud effect ends many meters away from water, and if you watch closely in the first part, they stall the wing by intention, to land steady, but the ground effect could continue for many meters if the would.

@airwolfgunner You are right, it was posed in a wrong way, anyway, the thing that I would add is that by doing it in water, not so distant from the ground, nothing can happen to the pilot (as long as he can swim), for sure if it's marine water/salt water, the wing would be destroyed for sure.

@fwiffo2k Here is an example of what happens when you don't execute this incredibly risky maneuver correctly. Search youtube video: "Doug Prather aka Rotor Crashing at Dunlap Jan 15th 2011." After I set the camera down, I spent more than 15 minutes trying to keep the pilot from drowning. The pilot was completely disoriented and would have drowned within 2 minutes of impact. He suffered broken cervical vertebrae and was paralyzed. A LOT CAN HAPPEN TO THE PILOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
