the chorus is trying to say how, though we may look different, the blood the runs through our veins is all the same, and that's what we should focus on.

A heads up, since there seems to be legitimate interest: the song is a tribute to Billie Holiday's 'Strange Fruit' - a song about lynching.

That said, it's not too difficult to follow the basic narrative. As to precise meaning, I can't say; there are a number of interpretations that could be taken from there. That's the beauty of poetic language.

To me it's about drug addiction and depression leading to suicide... In which he regrets his actions and doesn't want to die. "Haemoglobin is the key" reflects his thoughts of remorse as he bleeds out. Good song :)

Hemoglobin is the protein that can have mutations that can cause diseases such as sickle-cell. Sickle-cell, being carried mostly in black males.

The song depicts a lynching and the evolution of the black society in the United States. Illustrating that the black population became extremely violent as a defense mechanism.
