I have heard and seen some weird stuff around the Mount Lindsay area while running trucks through there at night and have no doubt there is something in that bush but I have also heard that growl before in my yard in Brisbane and while it seemed pretty scary,what i hear is a male koala.

First time I heard it I shit myself but this old koala lives in my back yard and i think it's a territory thing to keep the young ones out of his turf.

hello I believe this is true as I have hitchhiked from melb to atherton tablelands and spent every night (it took 3 months up and back) sleeping about 20 metres in from the side of the road in the bush every night and man have I come across some REALLY STRANGE encounters with yowies, mainly around eden nowa nowa and atherton tablelands , and I was on each occasion far away from other people so there was NO way any of this could be a man I have even been chased which was really frightning TRUE

If this is a "yowie", then Ive heard it... a few times in fact over a 1 week period around November 2008. Have not heard it since. My house is by a national park. I thought it was just koalas or something. In fact when my wife asked me about it, thats what I told her, probably koalas. I also live in an area thats supposedly had a few encounters of the past 20 years. I dont like assumptions but can say THAT matches the sound I heard at least 4 times. One time scaring my dog pretty badly.

@spiritguide09 - very interesting recording. I heard high pitch primate screams in the Kiamichi Mountains in Oklanhoma a few years ago, folloowed by rock throwing. We found massive footperints soon after along a game trail. In 2003, I was in Cameroon, west Africa and heard the high pitch screams of a tree hyrax. They were almost identical to those i heard to Oklahmos. Primate vocalizations for sure.
