Take it out of the hands of government and put it int the hands of the free market. How about this, you can have anything as long as you pay for it!! We become much more responsible when we pay the bills ourselves.
I flat don't believe those numbers. i am an RN. You cannot compare the US to places like Switzerland and Norway, it is not a fair comparison. He is correct that demand begets supply. Citizens demand and get, regardless of their ability to pay. In America we cannot say no. We have to give people whatever they ask for, we have to spend to keep people alive who should be long dead.
Wake Up!! What is paying for the new healthcare bill? YOUR TAXES. They will increase your taxes, you mark my words. They will be taking more of your hard earned money and giving it to someone else. Don't listen to these libs bad mouth business. We need business to provide jobs! I worked in a hospital and did not see any unneccessary tests. This is blatant exaggeration to muster support for this over reaching healthcare bill.
Netherland & Switzerland, 99% coverage and no public plan, but insurance companies are regulated like utility companies. Taiwan & Singapore have best medical care system in the world, 99% coverage, high quality, NO WAITING, and they are government run with less 5% GDP. Unreasonable premium, preexisting condition exclusion, changing drug formulary, deny treatment, medicare drug GAP for Senior are just plain wrong. Come on my fellow American, let us fix the healthcare for our children sakes!
to the person who says that lower overhead for public options than private insurance is a lie - were you listening when he quoted the amount that private insurance spends ONLY ON LOBBYISTS to keep their system in place??? 1.4 million dollars per DAY. multiply that by 365 to get what is spent in a year. right there is overhead that won't be in a public option. open your eyes - and your ears. please. you are not only hurting others, you are hurting yourself, with your blindness.
Not only are your books a joke so is your view on the American health care system. How do you suppose our country pays for this? By taxing ourselves out of existence and for what? For the government to help out those in "need"? This is crap, let's just have the government insure the uninsured and let those of us that can help ourselves be! I hate government involvement in my life and we need as little of these idiots in our lives!
U.S. health care costs were 8.8% of GDP in 1980, 15.2% in 2003, & are expected to his 17.6% this year. Health insurance premiums rose 119% over the last decade & are expected to rise 100% in the next 10 years (costing a family of 4 nearly $25,000/yr by 2018). 62% of bankruptcies filed in 2007 were linked to medical expenses. Out of 19 wealthy nations, the U.S. ranked last in curbing preventable deaths in people under 75.
Between single payer, wholistic medicine that is routine and normal (not limited for the very rich who can afford it) and massive lifestyle changes we could reduce the incidence of most illness in America by 85% within two generations.
Obviously we will all eventually become ill in some manner and die...but there is no need for the massive disability and the extended miserable painful suffering that has become the "norm".
Thank you Dr. Chopra for your informative comments. It is only with accurate and objective information we, the public, the very people affected by the outcome of these debates - can make sound decisions regarding something as vital as health care. It is a shame that most folks ask more probing questions about their broken CARS than they do about the health of their body. Thanks again Dr. Chopra!

That ranking was produced in 2000. The WHO no longer produce the ranking due to 'the complexity'.
