Congrats, Annie & Mac, another great classic old-time piece from your magic hands & fingers. Can I tell you about a CD album I've got, of J.E. Mainer & his 'revamped' Moutaineers band, recorded in 1963 .. Arhoolie Records CD 456. They do "Sally Goodin" in the traditional 'very' old-time way, using a powerful, full, traditional mountain string-band ensemble. J.E. was known for his rambunctious fiddling and singing style, and, boy, he sure doesn't disappoint on his version of this great number !!

I live in the shadow of Clinch Mountain and about 50 miles from Cumberland Gap. We have more than our share of good musicians (The Carter Family and others) and you play the best clawhammer banjo I ever heard. Made cold chills run over my back.
