  • Awsome vid i lov both the music and vid

  • I liked the video. but the song is too awesome for words.

  • I was at that Toronto concert too, I was playing with my high school band

I also played this piece during honor band, with Hazo as conductor!

  • i went to that show at the centre for the arts in Toronto. I have from friends in TYWO.

    it was breathtaking.

  • and that comment was for Auuster :D

  • thats awesome! and a coincidence! :D

thankyou so much. i think we played it our very best that night. you guys sang well too! the song 'today is the gift' was another song our band played a couple of years ago and i loved that as well. :D

  • i just played this song with my highschool band at the toronto centre for the arts while samuel hazo was conducting. we also worked with him at our school. hes so awesome! i loved the way we played it too! i almost cried while playing!

  • hey i was in the choir loft during that performance. I have to say, it was an excellent performance and your band played it very well at the concert. The story behind this song is also very touching. Finally, keep up the good work!

  • sorry the comment i just made was for scrumtiousmaximus

  • i loveeee this song!

  • from 3:10-4:25 alwasy has an probaly always will give me chills when i listen to this song idk but it does this songs awsome tho one of my favorites

  • We are playing this in band.

It's really not as hard as it sounds, but it's still gorgeous.

  • Hazo is a genius. this song is sooo beautiful!

  • This song is absolutely gorgeous. I hope I get the opprotunity to play this sometime in the near future. :)

  • I'm playing it for UIL. ;3 It's so pretty.

  • This is my favorite song i've ever played, except in this one the Contra Clarinet and Bassoon feature had 2 Bassoons. Contra Clarinet (Me) sounds best in that part.

  • I played this in middle school, but just for fun. We were horrible... lol, but i like it unlike anyone else. Heh...

  • I also played this last weekend at WVU with the honor band. It was an amazing experience and, being a percussionist like Hazo and having that desire to be a composer like he had, I will never forget the way I felt inside when I started my part of the heartbeat on the taiko drum.

  • I too just played this yesterday with Mr. Hazo. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever played. I love how all the comments are about the music and not the video.

  • I suppose that means my video wasn't that good lol, oh well

  • No, it is good. Great video with a great song! ^_^

  • Just yesterday, I played this song at an Honor Band thing and everytime I played it I cried because our conductor told us to put our most painful life stories into the music and just the story behind this is so amazingly sad. I especially love when the drums play the heartbeats of the american and japanese heart. Great song

  • Haha. Love it. We are playing this at my high school, and I am playing the Taiko drum. I love beating the crap out of it...

  • when i heard the story behind this song i almost cried when we played it at my school. its such a beautiful song and you can feel the emotion behind it once you know the story.

  • We played this in High School..Beautiful arrangment. Hazo is so inovative with his sounds and styles. LOVE IT..

  • im playing this song in band its intense.

  • like supercuteproductions, i just got back from a district band rehearsal with Mr. Hazo, and this piece is my favorite in the world.

  • What is the name of this drama?? Its on the N.

  • Whats that drama at the begining of the video... it mite be for the whole vid. It seems good.

  • I just got back this afternoon from playing this piece for Mr. Hazo himself. Beautiful arrangement.

  • These are a few of my favorite things.

Fantasy on a Japanese Folk Song rocks and so does Spashley as I understand they're called. Haven't watched the show yet, but I've seen a few tribute videos.

  • is this a recording you for off another band site? because i have it,

oh and my band (Rowlett) we played this as our ballad for marching band. it was challenging, but it was still good, tuning was a issue,

but it turned out great and we ended up getting a ONE at UIL.

you should check out our performance, search 'Japanese fantasy' rowlett band or something like that. btw i love this choice of song with the video!

  • I love this song! My concert band played this last year and it was the best song we played all year. I love all of Hazo's works. We did Ride for our field show and it was my favorite also.

  • amazing song...gives me chills every time

  • i played this song at band camp last year

  • Why not? I figured I would choose a song that was more challenging than mainstream music because of the lack of lyrics and whatnot. Do you know a song that would have probably fit the vid better?

  • Too much action in the video, doesn't suit the passive nature of the song at all. Our band did a skit with this song as well, we made use of very little facial expressions and just let the music build the mood of the scene.

  • love this song. hazo is my all time fav. composer. someone should make a video for olympiada, and each time you tell their story.
