Anybody that says slipknot is musical garbage needs to grow up a bit. I use to think they were complete shit, but then a light came on deep inside, and I realized there's no such thing as bad music. You saying something's bad, and someone else disagreeing = its just your opinion against theirs.

Slipknot has a unique sound, they very fan-oriented. Their lyrics aren't so much whiny, as they are pessimistic. And instrumentally, if you listen to them closely, they are creative. Very layered.
