  • ]: major sade face moment

  • I bawl like a baby every time I see this. Every. Time.

  • Doctor Donna Noble is the BEST

  • The most emotional scene ever. I keep crying every time I see this! <3 Donna Noble. C.T. NAILED her role perfectly!

  • The part where she has her memory wiped was really sad. It's ironic in a way as you have this woman (Donna) whom the entire universe and everyone is relying on her saving them, but has to have her memory wiped and her life relying on her not remembering it.

  • I cried like a baby during this scene

  • Honestly, how can anyone ever hate Donna after this?

She grew so much. She was Ten's best companion.

I still kind of want her to come back, even though I know she won't.

  • the mom is a bitch. the look the doctor gave her says it all. "bitch talk again and i'm gonna drop u off at core of the earth"

  • david makes matt seem bad.

  • ALL MY CREYS

  • ALL MY CREYS

  • Completely fucking broke my heart the first time I saw it, and it still does. Donna will always be my favorite companion, because she really fleshed out the reason the Doctor needs his companions.

  • i so wish they would bring donna back, find some way of removing the dr's mind from donna's so she could go back with the doctor and travel time and space. to me she was the best companion because she was the most personal out of all of them.

  • I loved Rose, and when I saw her leave for the last time, I thought it was horribly sad...but then this scene came, and...I sobbed. Especially Wilfred's speech in the end. Gosh.

  • This episode was brilliant I liked it more then Big Bang. Doctor Donna = FTW!! I love sad ending this is the one thing RTD is good at but he really screwed the whole Rose and Doctor angle. Thanks for posting it. Correct me if I am wrong but aren't Zoe, Jamie and Donna were the only companions who cant remember the doctor ?

  • I cried so hard at the end of this season. It was so heartbreaking.

  • Anyone think that this affected him more than Rose? I mean, yeah he was pretty depressed but at least she was safe and happy. But what happened to Donna was his fault, which is probably what drove him completely insane by the special episodes.

  • The Doctor should take her mum and drop her on some random planet and then go get her in 10 years time

  • I have this music on my MP3 player ... it makes me cry. A lot.

  • :'( this is so sad! Donna was my favorite companion :( but now we have Pond so it's not so bad :)

  • What a sad goodbye. Man, that speech with Wilford at the end was heartbreaking

  • why cant he just remove the time lord brain inside of her D; sniff i cried for 10 mins watching this ending is just is just!!! SO SADDDDDD

  • @FriendlyKitty32 He did. So she forgot.

  • This moment was the absolute pinnacle of Tennent's time as the Doctor. Billie Piper's Rose had outstayed her welcome for me, and Martha Jones never developed enough as a character. Donna had grown during her time with the Doctor, but also had taught him a thing or two. For me this never again reached the same level of storytelling; much much better than Tennent's finale which was too much spectacle for me. Ten was good, but I'm not honestly missing him.

  • Rose left with more knowledge of the world, but she was still her odd, quiet-ish self. Martha arrived strong and left just as strong. Donna, on the other hand, arrived with absolutely nothing and was about to leave with everything, and it was all taken away from her. Her personality grew, her perspective was enhanced, and it all had to go away.

Excuse me while I bawl my eyes out.

  • How can one man burden all that pain without breaking down?! Good lord hasn't the Doctor suffered enough already?

  • This is the most horrible ending anyone could get! I hated it so much, it was so unfair - personally, I think I'd rather have died than not remembered!

And at the same time, I love this ending so much - I love how much I hate it! I love that this show is not always "Hep-hey, I'm the Doctor and I'm gonna save the day!" - there is nothing more annoying than happy endings! That's why it's brilliant. Completely and utterly heartbreaking. Oh, poor Donna. <3

  • What is the music that starts at 0:08?

  • @CrazyWolf99 "The Rueful Fate of Donna Noble" from the Doctor Who Soundtrack, Volume 4.

  • God bless you, Gramps. You were the best companion ever.

  • I couldn't have done it. I'd have rather died knowing... than to go back.

    Excuse me....

  • WIIIILF <3

  • donna had gone through so much emotionally with the doctor, especially with the whole alternate computer reality from the library. Her heart has been broken so many times in so many ways, its almost depressing to watch her character progress.

  • i agree this is alot more tragic then what happened in doomsday

  • This ending was the worst. At least Rose and Martha got their Doctors. Donna lost everything. God, I hate how emotionally invested I am in this show. I'm tearing up now. Geez.

  • This reminds me of the Scene from the Angel episode, "I Will Remember You"- except this is soooooo much sadder. Buffy lost a day, Donna lost everything.

  • It's so unfair what happened to Donna. :(

  • "But we had the best of times" And now I'm gonna rip them all away from you and take away all the brilliant character development and feeling of self-worth you've gained in this series. As well as taking away the best-fitting non-romantic companion I've had since Sarah Jane and leaving me all alone.

    Most depressing ending ever.

  • God, that's terrible...

The worst is, she's not even dead no, she's there and will go on with her normal life, but he still can't see her again, ever. And even if he did, he'd be a stranger to her.

God, whoever wrote this is a genius when it comes to drama...

  • Donna was my favorite because she was one of the few companions who called him out and challenged him, without going all mushy lovey over him.

  • i alomost had a heart attack or a stroke when i first saw this on TV.

  • I respect Catherine Tate much more as an actress now than ever before.

I'm a 33yo guy but I was in tears watching her emotional scenes throughout the series.

  • this is more sad for me than roses ending in doomsday at least she had memories of the doctor !

  • @SuperTvaddict If that was me I would have chosen to die remembering. What happens here is a fate worse than death. It is a really sad ending for Donna as she had prooven herself a worthy companion. She is reverted back to the shallow person she used to be.

  • @MissRnR

I actually thought the same thing. If I did something that amazing, I'd rather die remembering then live and forget.

  • Still one of the most heartbreaking endings Doctor Who has ever done.

Its amazing how much more I liked Donna than Rose. Donna actually GREW as a character, to the point that you could feel her pain at having to revert back to what she was when we met her for the first time.

Rose... well, she hasn't really changed at all.

    Flynn 24

  • @flynn19

At first, I couldn't stand her (probably the point) but the way they ended it was more heart wrenching than any death scene.

  • @flynn19 For her it was a fate worse than death. This scene is more powerful than anything we saw last night in the Big Bang finale.

  • @flynn19 i totally agree with you. rose is my least favorite of the new who companions for that reason.

  • heartbreaking

  • best series ever, but it was sooo sad :(

  • Jesus that Mom's a bit of a bitch.

  • @SeanyZombie Watch The End Of Time - the exchanges atwixt Wilf and Donna are great.

  • @SeanyZombie The Doctor owned her at 3:30

  • its quite upsettin wen donna starts beggin him not to wipe her memory at 1:07

  • lol reset button, probably given his often lazy writing. Bernard cribbins though, genius actor

  • 2:45-3:26 that speech is what started the tears for me. Oh...poor Doctor, especially at 4:18 and that final look at 4:24 ugh...the Doctor is all alone again. : (

  • Yeah don't worry since it's Russell T. Davies writing Donna will remember again through some lame reset button.

  • @noworries1028

RTD has a habit of pulling things out of his arse doesn't he?

  • this always makes me want to cry. this is the second sadest to when he first lost rose.

  • @parlez9 I think it is sadder. Imagine being forced to forget something like that. At least Rose was never made to forget and she still got a verion of the Doctor. Donna was left with nothing.

  • my poor doctor wet, cold, and lonely tears just streamed down my face at the end of this.

  • omg that really sux : ( i liked donna too.

  • cied mi eyes out

  • omg x so sad x i hope she's not in the new specials coz if she realises who he is she'll burn up xx nd tht will kill him ! x

  • this scene never fails to make me cry! poor donna... poor doctor!

  • me too... every time I watch this I think surely this can't still make me cry but it does! =(

  • This was SUCH a good finale...not cuz Donna left- i liked her! Stupid BBC America- they skipped 1/2 this scene! Donna's lovely "yea- see ya" goodbye to dr, what grandad says to Dr in the end, the majority of the Doctor's little meeting with Donna's mum and granddad, AND when rose and Dr kiss!!! how could they skip that?? something shoulda happened right at the end, cliffhanger, like in the end of season 3 with the titanic spaceship. Cant wait for the season to start up in Amercia soon...

  • I think that this ending was better, another cliff hanger like that would've completely killed the mood IMO

  • Poor Donna:(

  • This was an incredibly horrible scene to watch. Even I couldn't help but shed a tear. What would be worse?

Dying, or having no memory of having actually lived?

  • Dying would be preferable, at least in my eyes. Less heartbreaking anyway and easier to get over.

  • The second Donna turns to look at the Doctor at 0:09 just rips my heart in two...

  • i cried so hard when i first saw this episode.

  • I cried when I saw this, not because of Donna leaving, which was sad enough. I cried because of The Doctor. He's so lonely, yet again... All alone..

  • I cry everytime I see this. Every single time.

I had so many doubts about Catherine Tate but she became my favourite companion. I dunno if it's 'cause she's older but she has something the others don't.

  • @Imiana She reminds me of the companions from the classic series with more wit. I think it is because she loved to travel with the Doctor rather than fall in love with the Doctor which was what it was like in the classic.

  • is it true, she's going to be in the christmas special? that bit's really sad :(

  • I wish. This is sad, but the worst thing is all the things she did she wont remember.

  • i think its so sad how the doctors like 'bye' and donna just goes 'see ya'

  • OMG! That just made me make a link! Catherine Tate said she hasn't ruled out not ever coming back, and saying "see ya" means that she might see him again!

  • I love how he introduces himself as "John Smith". That was is assumed name in Human Nature after using the Chameleon Arch.

Lol, everyone here who can regurgitate information off the top of their heads about Doctor Who (me included) are such DW geeks.

    BECAUSE ITS AWESOME!!!!!

  • Not THAT much of a geek then, are you? The Doctor has been using the name 'John Smith' as a pseudonym since the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) introduced it. I know Patrick Trougton also worked with UNIT so it's possible he used the name then but I haven't seen much of the Second Doctor adventures.

  • I'm honestly pretty unfamiliar with everything before Eccleston. I phail.

  • @BlackAndWhite9999 You are missing out. Invest in some. Trust me the effects are dated but you won't be dissappointed.

  • Statement: The 2nd Doctor first used John Smith as an alias way back in 1968 in the story "The Wheel In Space".

  • this has to one of the best goodbyes in TV history! sooooooo many people cried at this! old & young alike!

  • fantastic music terrably sad

  • she is back for the specials!!!! along with gramps!!!

  • shes only meant to be back for 1.

  • really???? is she????

    OMG!!! HOW? WHY? WHERE?

  • Statement: The final 2 episodes of the specials will feature Wilfred. Whether Donna will return as well is as of yet unknown.

  • Catherine Tate has been on set, and she is confirmed now, I realize The comment was 5 months ago, just thought you should know incase you didn't already

  • I truly believed the Doctor made her a better person just like Rose and Martha did him. I think she knows it too. I saw a few comments that said they didn't like it that she reverted back to her old self. The version that hadn't met the Doctor yet. The Doctor's world opened her eyes. I didn't expect this at all. I hope she gets her memory back, I don't know how but just to get her memories with the Doctor again. The "yeah, see ya" made me tear up. She would never say that. :(

  • @PocketsOfBlue NO!

She CAN NOT come back. That would negate Everything that made this moment so powerful. I'm sick of people who leave in tv, comics, or whatever come back from apparent debilitation or death 'oh ho hum fine again off to the races!' She Can Not remember any of it.

If we see her again it must be for a single moment.... that one shining moment where everything comes back. Then she dies.

  • i think this is so sad im sitting here blubbing like a baby and im 38 how sad is that lol

  • they should bring her back like some alien knows that Donna has the TARDIS lay out dormant in her mind so the only way to defeat the doctor is to unlock it, but they know that she'll die if they do so they put some sort or regulator on it to only remember relevant things so she wont know the whole universe, and then she escapes and saves the doctor after they captured him or something or she warn him but the doctor would probably have a new companion and be like Jack, only a few eps with her

  • :( i thought donna was good and i was so suprised when i first saw this its so sad

  • I also bow down to Wilf in respect.. what a great character and performance by Bernard Cribbins!

  • This is just so cruel D:

    =[ Donna was great!

    I hope she comes back, it's sci-fi!

So... they can find a way :] I hope.

  • As great as it would be to have her back - it is better to leave the character of Donna as it is.

To bring her back would ruin it. We have seen what happens when characters are brought back in a lackluster way - Rose's return to the Doctor.

  • @ShoulderAB07 YES! YES YES YES YES!

One cannot keep drawing characters back in ad nausium. It makes anything they do meaningless. This moment... it would be all for nothing if she were to come back. She would remember. Then she would die. That is how it would have to go. That one shining brilliant moment... then poof...

As many times as the Dalaks and cybermen have been brought back it was at least done in such a way that they never lost their credibility or threatening potential as villains.

  • Oh poor David. Ill come in the TARDIS with you!!!

    I can't stop crying

  • Brilliant. I love this clip, thank you for uploading, thank you so much.

    Dan.
