  • What do you use to freez the crankshaft ? i'm waiting to replay

  • @iroq22

Hi , The only method i have is to use my domestic freezer while my wife's not looking :-)

But first i wrap the crank in plastic bag to try and seal it in whilst in freezer .

I've used this method for quite a few years with different Jawa's 634 / 638 e.t.c. and find that assembly is very easy this way .

    All the best Terry

  • great work!

  • Hi Dennis

Thank's glad you like the vid , in the past when i've fitted these cranks i've missed the dowl recess by a couple of mm , but once its in its in l.o.l. So i thought i'de make some sort of guide , and im pleased to say it worked great so hopfully they will all go in this well :from now on :-) Apart from top end the rest should be done in next couple of days ,

Hop all is well with you . All the best Terry

  • Very good job, Terry! I like all your videos! It is great! But I think that you have the engine JAWA 638 in your JAWA twin 350! CZ is also very nice!!! :-) Have a good time, Aleš :-)

  • @Alesblaha2 Hi Thank's im pleased you like the videos :-)

yes you are right my jawa is 638 :-)

soon i will have to re register it as 632 once i change the engine .

    All the best Terry

  • Excellent Terry, as always, very informative, backed up with good camera shots and narration.

I liked the bit at the end, when you admire what you've done so far, but also hoping you haven't forgotten to install anything from inside the engine...LOL

My mate did it with a Honda CG125 engine many years ago. there he was telling me what a great job he'd done after a complete strip down and rebuild, only to find the timing belt tensioner still on the bench as he glanced down drinking his cup of tea.

  • @Bevoin1970 Hi Paul

When i first read your comment it made me think "have i left anything " hahaha

Thank for your positive comment on the vid footage ,well appriciate the feed back .

    All the best Paul Terry

  • Nice one Terry, making it all look easy and unflustered as usual.

  • @m2mark1 Hi Mark

Underneath the calm i was sweating l.o.l.

But all is going well .

    Cheers Terry

  • 638 has indeed a bit more power, but the torque in lower RPM speaks for 634 engine. (and the iron cylinders have better sound :) The main disadvantage might be the cooling... And I recommend having this instead of the stock ring w w w.motocentrum-vitkovice.cz/i/Image/DSC07374.JPG The area of where the ring and engine block touch is then much larger. (some engines with high mileage tend to have enormous play in this place and it is basically unrepairable)

  • @n0named Hi Yes i agree the 634 has better torque low rpm .

I just love the riding carecter of the 634 aswell :-)

This is main reason im fitting the 632 engine to get some of the old carecter i miss from my 634 .

I like the replacment centre bearing carrier ( labrinth seal ) If i have wear problems in future builds i'll have to try this type out it looks good with more sealing edge .

    All the best Terry

  • Cheers for that!

  • @dejongwiebe Hi Thank's

Glad you like the first part . Cheers Terry
