Desmond Lane gets his instrument out in front of the girls and says 'What did you say - midget?' Don't worry Desmond - I'm sure you'll find a girl that is more sympathetic soon.
I remember watching this movie, albeit a bad copy here in the States when I was 16 years old. I really loved it the first time I saw it, although I missed the first 10-15 minutes of the film, I kept watch in the television guide, and it came up 11 months later, I remember skipping school to stay at home and watch this movie, which aired on the local station at 13:00 hours. What a fantastic movie, with a lot of great musical talent! Thank you so much for posting it!
Hi Imj22, Des is in his middle-eighties,-all the family live for very many years! Must be good genes. His nephew and I searched for theatre and musical posters for him and he's mentioned in any of them with loads of other musicians who were big in the '50s and early 60's, -he did have a hit with 'Swinging Safari' originally done by Bert Kampfaert orchestra. Des will be really pleased he's on You Tube!
Des Lane, 'The Penny Whistle Man' is still going strong and living in Blackheath. He is my mates uncle and music is still big in the family, Des is agreat bloke and real artist; a musician and portrait painter, Goddonya Des!

Jim long before "Carry On" fame. This song "The Train Kept-A-Rollin`" was first recorded by Johnny Burnette and the Rock "N" Roll Trio" Great stuff.

This is just an awful reworked version of 'Cow Cow Boogie' by Ella Fitzgerald and Ink Spot from about 15 years earlier.

That's amazing! How old is he now? He didn't look too young even in this vid - 50 years ago! I googled, but couldn't find any info about him.
