  • Shooting that cannon would make me feel better if all my hay had been rained on!

  • BANG ON!!

  • VOTE Ron Paul

  • TOO SLOW

  • Ed has balls

  • I wish my grampa was like this :P

  • its possible the 2nd round went through the 1rst round hole!!

  • One thing that makes me slightly concerned is the lack of protective clothing/gloves.

I guess thats from my experiences of English Civil War Artillery, but still.

  • right on yall very good vids watchin all of em gonna sub keep em comin

  • thats power! wow very loud...and this is only just a small one...imagine a bigger version

  • Black powder does not impact-detonate, it needs a spark or ember to set it off. If that wasnt' the first shot he'd fired that day it was an ember left from a previous shot. If it was the first shot of the day, that was a very unusual accident indeed.

  • i like old guys shooting old guns...

  • i hope it dosnt end up in one of your cows... YES!

  • ok add some black powder...... now add some white powder for crazy smell :D

  • *see title* giggity........

  • I believe you put the shell in backwards.....

  • now thats how i would spend my retirement :) good video!!!!!!

  • put the progectile in piont first...it would work...maby not the best...but it would work...

  • beautiful

  • Nice video thanks.

  • you americans are lucky bastards iii

  • i want this on top my civic rofl..

  • How about a video of Ed firing a broadside thru that red 4x4 ?

  • where did Mr.Ed go running off to this time some trenches off to the right?

  • you should mike a mineball type projectile so that you can muzzle load it.

  • projectull lol dont you mean projectile

  • dear santa...

  • how much would a reasonable price be for a 40mm ?

  • pre-poured pre-measured and pre uhhh...inspected >_>

  • Hello, I am Mr Ed.......A horse of course is a horse of course....LOL....

  • So clever! :D

  • wow

  • That's just what we need to deal with the rioters in London!

  • ill hate to be the person who gets wacked with the cannon

  • 1:38 the cannon next to it, what is that???? That looks wicked!!!

  • @PyR0Star That's the 32-barrel machinegun. We did a video on that too, look it up.

  • there should be a crank on the back end of the breech instead of just a knob

  • OK so the part where he pounds the shell back onto the *black powder* charge with that wooden cylinder... isn't there like a 30% chance that this "tapping" will impact-detonate the black powder? Blowing the wood ram like, through his shoulder or something hideous like that?

  • @Rep0007 Black powder is very sensitive to sparks and flame, but not to shock, pressure, impact, etc. It was used as the filler in explosive projectiles, even armor-piercing ones, for that reason.

  • @cannonmn black powder is so misunderstood!!! I find it to be much safer than the other comps i make.

  • @cannonmn

Recently a man was seriously injured near where I live by tamping down blackpowder in a muzzleloader. The powder impact-detonated and sentt the ramrod into his shoulder.

  • @NeoNSPETSNAZ There may have been some hot embers or something left over from the previous shot maybe?

  • the guy in blue shirt would be the coolest granddad;)

  • where are the simpsons haha

  • Nice report on that thing.

  • why the hell it fires a stick?

  • Its a bronze cannon that was used for all oojikaboo aboard ships etc in times gone by.

Dem used grapeshop and blasted baording parties faces away all oojikaboo like I said.

  • @fatpat81 these guys better than you fuking idoit

  • Oh ok.....what a blast that must be!...thanks for the reply

  • What is the purpose of this piece? was it intended for military use? thank you

  • @Tsudoshi09 This is strictly a fun-gun, made for recreational shooting at inanimate targets.

  • @Tsudoshi09 yes cannons were made for military use over several hundred years now.

  • That is an awesome cannon.

  • If that was around a grand or less it would be an awesome little range toy.

  • Thanks for sharing ,that was really fun, I learned something

  • Aluminium foil? Does that combust?

  • Cannon penis!

  • A nicely made video. Keep your powder dry boys!! Thanks for sharing.

  • Hey there! One thing you must work on, imho. How come that great delay, in the end of your movie, when you "hit the target" and it very, really, slowly falls down? You should better use your video software. IMHO.

Otherwise, I am impressed. Love BP and cannons..

  • Did you find that the riflings would not stabilize the projectile pointy end first? Is the rate of twist too slow? I have a 30 MM gatling barrel I intend to do something similar with. It has gain twist rifling, but very fast, at the muzzle it is 22 1/2" per rev.

  • Didn't the movie "Wrong turn" take place in Virginia? They shoulda' ran into you guys!

  • Yes there's one that we posted the same day as this one. Search "32 barrel machine gun."

  • @cannonmn how much did it coast

  • @10aagun contact cannonmn at springfieldarsenal@hotmail.com

  • whats that multi barrel gun next to the cannon? got any vids of it?

  • Haha my grandfather used to make those!! I love smart old people!!

  • i find uselles to fire a bullet backwards.. less velocity=less energy=less stopping power+ reduced accuracy and the chance off blowing up the hole barrel... but that's just me

  • could you use the grenade part of a 40mm grenade for a launcher

  • this video makes me strangely happy

  • you should sell those to the Somalian pirates

  • That was great. What kind of legalities are required for owning and operating a working artillery piece.

  • @DoctorHowitzer In the US and within that, Virginia, that particular item is not classified as a firearm, and the US BATFE regulations only apply to firearms, destructive devices, etc.

  • a clear head shot whoah

  • Love Cannons !!!

  • Great video, What is that multi barreled little weapon on the bench and do you have a video of it being fired? If not that should be your next one. I want a cannon!

  • We have one, look for all our videos and it is the one right before this one, "shooting the 32 barrel machine gun."

  • KEWL!!! u need 2 cameras.1 to shoot the cannon & 1 the target.

  • that is so cool!!!!!!

  • Hey Ed,

Do you have a drawing with the correct measurement and specifications for the cannon?

  • Ed does not, but John sells the 40mm barrel sections, minimum 40" length, weighs about 90 lbs., FOB 22150.

  • @cannonmn How does one contact John to purchase a barrel section? Also, I assume experience taught that the projectile in unstable loaded pointy end first, is that right? I currently have a GAU-8 Avenger 30 MM barrel which I hope to turn into two muzzle loaders, or one ML and the other a pre 1898 Krupp replica. This is fascinating stuff indeed! Thanks for the video.

  • That odd looking device next to the 40mm cannon looks very familiar; it wasn't on display at last weekends "The Nation's Gunshow" was it?

  • Yes it was, on table no. 2B5 where I was. We have a video out on that also, if you search for videos by "cannonmn" you will find it, or look for "firing the 32-barrel machine gun."

  • what is it made of? steel, bronze?

  • Made from a steel Army 40mm rifled cannon barrel. It is section cut from a Duster barrel. You can find out what a Duster is on Google.

  • 2 ounces of black powder equals how many grams im not used to ounces

  • There are 454 grams in one pound. There are 16 ounces in one pound. Divide 454 by 16 for grams per ounce.

  • Why you have not fixed a back part of a cannon concerning a trunk? After all because of it there is no resistance to vertical return, and it could turn over)

    sorry my bad english

  • Thanks, we understand perfectly. If you look again, we did fasten the cannon carriage to heavy sand bags in front of the stand, and those serve to restrain it from falling off the shooting stand. The carriage needs to be allowed to recoil a certain distance in order to preven the carriage from breaking. Recoil does not affect accuracy.

  • big thanks for the answer. Precisely, indeed)

  • Mr. ED is fuckin awesome

  • We don't let anyone get in front of it. Yes, if someone got in the way they would be hurt.

  • does it can kill people?

  • I try, try and try again, to post the best videos on old firearms, but nothing I post can compare to your canon videos, your are the best!! I love al of them!!!!

  • are you a cannon collector?

  • Yes, love old cannons and cannon models, salute cannons, line cannons, etc. etc. Please think of me if you find a cannon I might be able to buy or trade for.

  • sure

  • Its like a kids toy from Hell!

  • Where did you get those shells

  • and wht kinda sight is that a enfield or mauser sight?

  • I think he said it was a Krag sight.

  • epic enjoyed watching

  • Yeah, very nice Ed

Very good new videos you have there ;)

Where do you get this cannon?

    greetings from germany =)

  • mr Ed is LOCKED and LOADED!

    great fun!

  • lol you guys are nuts

  • Yes, yes they are,

I hope I get to do stuff like that everyday when I'm old..lol.

  • but aye, its solid entertainment!

  • I love watching your cannon videos! Where on earth do you find them all.

  • I hope this is not a dumb question but were does the phrase "fire in the hole" originate from. Im sure I heard it used in a film "private ryan" Also Ed you use the phrase M 1 A 1 what does that mean. Just love your videos.

  • Fire in the hole probably originated when explosives were introduced to mining. It is a warning that a fuse has been lit or is about to be lit and anyone around should take cover.

M1A1 is just a cutsy way of giving a quasi-military name to anything, since the US military designates everything except air and water with "M_" numbers.

  • lol i like how you still say cyberspace XD

  • eh eh eh i wonder if Ed's got a daughter.. i would be such a perfect Son-In-Law,

Always hangin' out with the oldies!

  • He has 3 daughters, but got 'em married off already, too late!

  • I want to hang out with you guys! What a blast. Fantastic video, great presentation and cannon shootin'!
