@harapanku12 FYI, USA is Rank 17 on the said index, Rank 1 goes to Norway, and the birthplace of democracy is the city-state of Athens (refer to Form 4 Sejarah textbook, Chapter 2, unless they have changed it since I left school).

The Democracy Index does not measure things like the treatment of prisoners or militaristic foreign policies, but it does measure it does measure civil liberties (ie. right to peaceful assembly).

@harapanku12 Speaking of the US: Although it likes to thinks of itself as a highest example of democracy, it is only doing modestly well amongst the developed nations. On other measures, it performs poorly, with a high prison population, homicide rate, teenage pregnancy rate, income inequality, happiness, and more, compared to other developed nations. Sometimes by a large margin.
