  • Here we go with another old wives tale. Running an open exhaust with a carb/throttle body tuned for more backpressure can burn valves because less backpressure makes an engine run lean due to the fact that the greater exhaust flow pulls some of your intake charge right out the exhaust port. If you re-jet your carb you will be fine.

  • What year is it and is it hard to put the tachometer on it

  • 2 people have imports. hahahaha

    faggots

  • Yes It is bad to run open headers on stock or mild applications but if you are around 350bhp or above you should be fine. I'd say anything under that the flow rate is too small and you will warp your valves.

  • just out of curiosity is this a solid roller cam?

  • damn. started up pretty easily

  • OMG i live thes

  • nothing like a v-8 with open pipes.... they just sound awesome, you can almost feel the ground shake!

  • @mrRhwalden when i got my 383 running i ran for 2 days on some hooker long tube headers the ground shaked my bedroom window shaked and idling down my street with no gas and just the clutch out was setting off car alarms it was cool at first lol

  • damn! sounds like SEX!!

  • Nice truck! where'd u get the dash panel cover thingy? my dash panel is fucked, and i'm too cheap to buy a new one! lol

  • I watch this video at least 3 times a week.

  • Too bad you probably rape gas :\

  • this is bone stock w worn out valve springs

  • wooow is this stock car?

  • i want to put this engine in my chevelle , would it sound like this with exhaust cut outs?

  • If that was my truck I would just leave it on the open headers. glug, glug, glug, gulg.

    I love it.

  • i just put headers on my stock 350 from a 71 truck.

Believe me it's loud! I drove around the block (stupid) and just got stares from people wondering who this idiot was.

the compression and tranny response is not there without at least some exhaust pipes, throttle response was bad too,

i'm just putting some cherry bomb turbo's with 2 1/2 inch pipes.

  • sounds nice

  • is it steet legal as far as sound goes

  • @Lday29 lol....iv been driving over a year stright piped, been pulled over few times and drive by cops all the time in town. nvr stop me

  • i wish my 350 would sound that good but its got the long stroker super heavy duty 350 redlines at 4grand but it will idle really slow

  • wow this k-5 sounds great!!!!

  • nice shit how do ya make it sound that baddass anything besides the open headers?

  • you can, with racing pipes, not the street legal, i have 3 inch flowmaster race pipes on my truck. and it sounds the same.

  • omg ...I just got a stiffy! O_O

  • 500 rpm just right idle haha

  • sounds nice i got about almost the same setup check out my video

  • Open headers! your an idiot when you burn your valves up shoot me a comment i know whereyou can get some cheap!

  • i ran open headers on my 81 firebird for 2 months straight as a daily driver and didnt burn any valves. i think they only burn if you run open shorty headers or the stock manifolds but long tubes arent that short and wont burn them up. this truck has one extremely low idle tho! i love it

  • I know you can crack your valves if you don't have long enough tubes. The cold air rushes into the hot engine when you turn it off. If your tubes are long enough, which most of them are, they will heat the air up before they reach the valves. most headers will accomplish the task just fine. think about drag racers and monster trucks, they run open headers all the time. some engines have the individual tubes for each cylinder as well and they provide the same heating capabilities.

  • i dont think u will be sellin them anytime soon moron

  • actually, dumb ass if they are the long headers you see on ratrods the valves are just fine. if its stock manifolds its a problem, but it ran for 30 seconds.. the valves are fine you pecker fuck

  • Ok i didnt know he had long neck headers on here he could have the short ones dumb dick but thanks for the comment i love arguing with people like you keep them coming

  • @1979Chevy4x4 na thats one of my good friends he beats the balls out of it still runs like a champ

  • @1979Chevy4x4 lol your dumb

  • now thats sound good sound just like my truck

  • sounds alright

  • That sound is my all time favorite sound in a vehicle.

  • Hey Man Great Sound , I got the same 350 H.O Motor in a 89 GMC Jimmy Fullsize , but my vids have bad sound

  • to me there's no better sound then when you can almost hear each cylinder individually firing and a mean rumble lol

  • @countrystud69 hell yeah man lol

  • Huh? My 350 idles at 800 rpm, should I turn it down?

  • No 800 is fine.

  • your rear barrels might be stuck open or the choke stuck. that happened on mine.

  • no dumbass

  • no turbo or supercharger but i bet a million bucks is cammed

  • so when you buy them like that they dont have that sound?

  • All depends on what motor you buy =D

  • is that the stock cam that came with that engine?

  • Sounds great.. I love the sound this motor has i have the same thing in my 97 z71 but i have cold air and 2 1/2 inch straights with 5inch tips with the stock manifold it is stupid loud

  • what are the cam specs, very nice!

  • 500 RPM idle. Love it.

  • hey man truck is sounding pretty damn good.
