James Garner never had a heart attack. On a routine exam he was found to need bypass surgery, which his doctors TOLD him was due to smoking. NO heart attack - then or ever.

Garner was hired by the Cattlemen's Association to promote beef eating. Then he had a heart attack. So they fired him.
