leonard is 'that higher place' and his voice, so sweetly Goth is like black velvet, really aged cognac- those of us who have loved him for what seems many life times, were not surprised by the success of the last few years- everything you need for life is contained in a leonard cohen song- those of us who know much sorrow are comforted by those' heroes in the seaweed' and I have walked Montreal's lonely cobbled streets listening to my boot heels...

The comparison you make with that poem of Cohen's is wonderful. I have also been thinking about that. Cohen's piece is actually written in 1956 - before Simon's.
