  • God needed Freddie Mercury to sing in his band

God needed Jimi Hendrix to play guitar in his band

God needed John Entwhistle to play bass in his band

God needed John Bonham to play drums in his band

Together, they made the ultimate supergroup, the Rock Legends!

  • very impressive. that definitely competes with Cliff.

  • John Entwistle is my hero!

  • I love John's concentration, can't argue his position and style, very nice, thumbs up. My electric bass teacher told me not to run my thumb off the top and don't rest my thumb on strings. Fuk him, all the great players like Geddy Lee is doing it! Once I've learn all the basic fundamentals, I'm firing dat bytch, and getting a real teacher, lmao!

  • @GUARDIANtrooper Dude, hendrix always threw his thumb over the top of the neck, and the v shape neck is designed for that exact playing style. you keep it up there as leverage for bending. i say if your thumb wants to peek his head out over the neck every once in a while for a little air, let him breathe!

  • @PANICBLADE I'm with you on that, lol!!

  • A beautiful racket.

  • whow, that sucked !

    JK he's awesome

  • Two words for you: HOLY SHIT!!!

  • Who knew an ox could play bass like that?!

  • the who had legendary people

from townshend, who made the windmill popular,

to moon, whos onstage and offstage antics got him the nickname moon the loon

and i didnt quote that, i wrote it myselfxD

but its still true, the who were great

  • Honestly, ssure hes one of the greatest bassist, but his late career tones are terrible, this video is a prime example.

  • @RuroiniStenchin this tone is sick i love distorted bass, its sounds soooo badass

  • I see no reason to why john shouldn't be #1!

Saying that Cliff Burton should be #1 just he played metal and was in Metallica is just... stupid.

  • The day I first found this guy was the day my eyes were opened to the bass guitar in its fullness. Absolutely my number one inspiration as well.

  • me two i dont play an instrument but i used to fallow the stereotype that bass was something you just plucked then i heard the my generation solo...

  • So I have to agree with this 100% There have been some amazing bassist to come about the last 60 years or so like Jaco, Chris squire, Jack Bruce, Geddy etc. But I think none of them would have done what they did without Entwistle. But I think that maybe the #1 spot could be a tie even. Because if you look back at it Entwistle was even himself inspired by Jamerson. So I think the # 1 spot could go to both. Food for thought.......8-)

  • i think that every different genre connects with different people and its easy to find parts of every genre that you can like and musicians that can work most efficiently.

  • John Entwistle is obviously #1.

  • Innovatively, it either needs to be Entwistle or Jaco. I'd go with Entwistle. Good job with this pick man!

  • Great video.

I met Entwistle in NY back in '88 when he did a show where I worked. He signed my Live at Leeds album.

  • sick fretboard with the roman numerals. bad call though; claypool is definitely the more innovative and more talented bass player

  • you are so freaking right

  • um no claypool is great but entwistle invented the bass solo and do to entwistles playing style he is able to play faster and more precise than claypool but it all comes down to what you like i can understand why you like claypool better his bass solos sound really cool and claypools style looks cool as well but in my opinion at the end of the day the late great john entwistle takes the gold

  • @atgskater14 haha he did not invent bass solos, haha bass solos were around in the 40's with jazz music, john was just the first rock bassist to olay with meaning

  • @CJbass420

    He invented electric bass solos

  • more people need to respect bassists, especially ones that are this good.

  • holy shit thats beast

  • Life to all but metal

  • Lol right on! Metal is for idiots

  • Metal is simply a form of expressing yourself as is all other forms of music. Granted there are some bands and sub genres that are ridiculous but that is the same for every band. saying metal is for idiots is ignorant and you know it.

  • Well it all depends on what you find in the music. In Metal I find complete and utter nonsense covered by fast guitar plying and drums. I don't see any genius in that. Regardless, what YOU get from it is probably alot different, so you are right. Metal is not for idiots, but I find Metal to be idiotic itself. Just my opinion.

  • Go to hell, and gag on your piece of shit Genre. The only Metal band that counts (Or that anyone respectable gives a fuck about) is Black Sabbath, as it should be.

  • @DeathToAllButMetal AND NOT THE OZZY ERA, He is a shadow of his former self.

Dio is the true god here.

  • John, we miss You ! [*]

  • A true rock legend, we miss those thunder fingers.
