Sorry, but I must concur with the others -- this is definitely NOT the real thing. Victor NEVER made any Talking Machine with what looks like glass with their decal attached. This is one of those fake reproductions -- nice looking as a decorator item but can never compare to an authentic Victor (external horn) or a Victrola (internal horn). I hope you didn't pay too much for it.
Doesn't look like a "very old HMV" gramophone. It looks more like one of those newly manufactured gramophones, produced in India, who are put together by different gramophone parts of various and dubious quality. The kind of gramophone we call "crap-o-phone" - sorry to tell you that. Nice record though - but it needs a better gramophone.
ive heard one of these in real life before (also the stand up cabinet ones) in person they sound a lot better
