also , saison was actually made for the harvest .. because of the lack of potable water, they would have them drink a very low abv saison as a ration .. the alc content would kill any harmful bacteria in the water thus giving them refreshment and hydration :)
an official trappiste beer is beer made under the supervision of monks at one of the world's 7 official trappiste breweries. there are several monasteries that make trappiste style beers such as corsendronk in belgium but are not official trappiste monastery so they have to call the beers they produce " abbey ales" .. saison also pronounce Say-Sawn .. nice review.. looking forward to popping mine open to see what I get from it. :)
