  • but this part beginning at 1:50, they just cant touch the way it sounds on violin, needs to shriek and sob more.

  • It was wrote for the violin. There is no proof, Bach even wrote for the lute. And i think Segovia was the first to put it into the guitar rep.

  • @padario44 ya , from what i understand he got a lot of shit for playing Bach on the guitar, at the time the classical artists considered it a a silly instrument unworthy of the classics

  • He considered it his "calling" in life, to be the disciple of the guitar, and he certainly did change those attitudes. He also embraced recording very early on, before it was respected in the world of classical music (a traditionally very pretentious bunch ;-) ) and exposed the world not only to the magnificence of the guitar but to classical music in general. He was quick to point out that Bach himself spent a great deal of time transposing his (own) works to other instruments.

  • segovia is very articulating to every notes, he urgs all who played the chaconne to plaed that very slow first be patient because that piece is not just a ordinary piece. follow all the fingerings in his transcricption. thanks,.. leo rene

  • @kevingopar

    Baroque

  • el maestro segovia

  • que buen ingles jajajaj articulaiten jeje, en fin grande segovia y espectacular la mujer

  • "Practice everything slow. And articulating very much. And then when you have practice for a while, and that way play at tempo. And then you are going to feel how easy it becomes to play that."

Words of wisdom. Must always keep this in mind.

  • Who is this woman, did she go onto perform?

  • what genre of music is this

  • what instrument did bach write the chaconne for? its fucking brilliant and quite different than the rest of his stuff which is also great. these vids are great thanks!!

  • originally wrote it for violin and (i believe) segovia was the first to arrange it for guitar

  • no it was orginally wroten for lute, bach dident like violin

  • no, it was actually for solo violin, the final dance from his partita # 2 in d minor, and bach wrote lots of violin music

  • but he dident like the sound of the violin, he loved the lute

  • lute.

  • for the lute he wrote.

  • @batterseaspark violin

  • practise everything slow is the way to go ...

  • i wouldnt mind her playing me slow while naked, if you know what i mean.

  • Except for the fact that she's either already dead or old enough to be your grandmother.

  • Anybody know who is she? Is that Galina Vale?

  • Brigitt Zaczek, Professor of guitar at Vienna.

  • He wasn't impatient. That's the best way to teach, just correcting immediately, and playing the right way so the student listens, otherwise you'll keep doing the same mistakes.

  • People can say whatthey will about Segovia being impatient, mean, etc. in his masterclasses, but the fact is that everyone who has ever been to one of his masterclasses DID learn something, whatever Segovia thought the lesson should be.

  • Listen to Segovia, his music flows greatly. Whereas hers was more rough, off temp, ect.

He was not teaching her "how to sound exactly like him", he was teaching her how to play the music

  • i think she knew how to play the music but he was teaching her to, more or less, 'feel the music'

  • Yeah, in a 2 hour masterclass.... Sounds exacly like Segovia? lol

  • Can anyone tell me who the student is?

  • Brigitte Zaczek...she is VERY good isn't she!

  • No. He didn't say "Play everything slow while naked." He said that she needs to practice everything articulate each note slow. I don't remember his exact words right now but I guarantee you he didn't tell that girl to do it naked.

I'm not surprised he's more patient with his female students. He was brought up in a generation and a culture where it was engrained in the man that the woman was a delicate creature and needed to be treated with chivalry, gentleness and consideration.

  • "...practise everything slow - and: Articulating very much!.."

Needs a bit of imagination running wild to hear anything about "naked" in it ;-)

  • what'z great teching!i fell much good hope from his eye

  • Did I really hear him say: "Pooracktees evry ting eslow, while naked"?

  • I think you heard it but I don't think he said that !

  • It is very good that Segovia is kind when teaching CUBS.

  • Segovia seems to have a little more patience with his female students doesn't he?

  • @kandykid13 lol true
