I agree with Mr. Ru, The Ravens didn't need Flacco at 18 - they were looking for a QB to manage the game, and they could have gotten a game managing QB in the 2nd or 3rd rounds, especially since they picked up all those picks from the Jags to move down. And Flacco would have been there at 26 anyway, and even if he wasn't they could have found a QB somewhere else.

Flacco can trust his arm too much at times, but on the whole he will protect the ball and make good decisions. I saw him play nearly every week for the past two years and he's content with swinging it to the RB or short to the TE if nothing is there. That is evident by only throwing 1 INT every 3 games his senior season. I also think he's in a better situation with the Ravens than Ryan with the Falcons. Anyone can debate him being a reach at 18, but I see big things from him in the future.

Even if they were going QB and not take a WR (like you all said) why not Brohm or Henne? I-AA QBs are very hit and miss, besides they learned that good arm doesn't equal franchise QB from the whole Kyle Boller fiasco.
