I'm not an American. British, live and work here. Love my American colleagues, but totally baffled by the vilification of a president trying to introduce some equity into the health system. Citizens of all the developed countries I know off - except America - regard universal health care, education, law and order, as their birthright. God help anyone in America who falls sick or has an accident without health insurance - or just been let go? tough.
Before making a quick judgment over whether he is oversimplifying or off target, you must remember that this is an interview excerpt, not a PSA. I agree, he doesn't do a good job explaining how the health care system would tackle injuries/unpreventable illnesses.
But ask yourself this - what if all of the preventable diseases - Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Cancer, ect. - were taken out of the mix. Wouldn't that take a huge strain off the health care system? Enough so to fix it?
So, how do you get more people to use a disease prevention, natural foods based nutritional life-style. Pay them a bonus for doing it! A feasible political plan to accomplish this has been developed. The author is Jim Catano. If interested contact him (Salt Lake City)
For Mangoplum, this is what he said about accidents and injuries, right at the end:
"The health care system would then be an emergency medical care system for those emergencies that come up and those problems that can't be helped by, you know, taking personal responsibility for our own health."
He is talking about illnesses that can be prevented that should not exist on an epidemic level. Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, these are preventable illnesses!
This YouTube video expresses very succinctly how the properly fix the American Healthcare System. I support and want to spread this approach.

Subsidized healthy food instead of meat, dairy, corn and soy. Make it affordable for people to eat healthy.
