  • Yes but what about internet compression ? I don't think that here is possible to appreciate SACD :-/ What do you think ?

  • Umm... could you ask your question again, I don't really understand what you are asking.

  • superaudiocdman, I want to say:: you have here published something from a SACD ok ? Well, but YouTUBE applies audio compression that fully damages the quality of your demo. So, being impossible to appreciate: what's the advantage here in YouTUBE ?

  • Of course it does. I think most audiophiles should realize that this is simply an advert to gain interest in the format. You need an SACD player and a proper setup to gain a true SACD exeperience.

  • yes I do agree but SACD can never be really demonstrated here in YouTUBE. Not only for audio compression but also because the mulitchannel layer ( the real SACD layer ) normally recorded in Dolby Digital, it's not reproduced at all. YouTUBE is just an "ancient" technology is compared with SACD and DVD Audio ...

  • Actually SACD uses a technology called "DSD" or Direct Stream Digital. Dolby Digital is actually just an mp3 of 192kb/s.

  • Not exaclty. DSD is totally different than MP3. DSD is a ore efficient way than PCM to convert audio signals in Digital.

SACD has two layers. The first one we are listening everywhere is Standard CD Audio ( CD-A ) 16 bits 44k1.

The second one, readable ONLY from sepcial players, is DSD but it has 6 spearate audio tracks.

Normally those tracks are used for Surround Music purposes, as should be. L, C, R, LFE, LS, RS

That's why here in YouTUBE never we can appreciate the SACD

  • I order from HMV, after 30 minutes of discussion and why high-res formats are better, I always conclude with SACD being different in a more musical way. It is true, I believe that SACD is superior to DVDA. Though it is left to the mastering techniques and original sources, still though, SACD rocks my world.

I might have a good listen on my Open Baffles tomorrow to Dark Side of the Moon
