  • Holy shit, that scream at 3:00 is the most primal thing.

  • I probably botched second-to-last verse... toughness eye? Wait, let me listen to this song another 100 times.

  • Cont.. «The wind will serve this memory» «right before the crescent star» «wash it all away»» ««Spirit of -» «rough of your toughness eye» «- of the old wood» «looking at us -» «rustic nocturne» «The dragons will throw light» «for ever who» «walk this land»» ««My thoughts slowly turn» «to the past waiting» «out of this lie» «in the day of shadow» «of spite for the lies»»»

  • Is there no proper line-break on YT, song lyrics deserve it! Anways, my attemp «You point a shattered mirror at the world» «and mock those who dare to look» «But you most of all are afraid» «of what you might see in the glass» «I will still serve and love you» «for your petition is as fueled as your want» «but your wools are soaking through» «The river will flow with your blood» «and the crows will sing your name» «as they build their winter nest» «with your hair, bones and seed»

  • digging this ! awe inspiring

  • During the Summer of 2002 at an Earth First rendezvous in the Cascade mountains of Washington State, guitarist Nathan Weaver was inspired to create a band that merged a Cascadian eco-spiritual awareness with the misanthropic Norwegian eruptions of the 90's. Themes of ancientness, apocalypse, connection to place and the struggle to find meaning and spirituality in a mechanical and materialistic world would be woven together in a singular alchemy.

  • This band tries to say they aren't a BM band. They are really a bunch of fucking hippies that live on a farm.

  • Epic riffage at 7:31 till the end!

  • lov n this:)

  • My favorite track in this brilliant album. Listen to the riffs properly, you can hear one leading and the other one following. 2:25 onwards is just out of this world.....

  • sound like burzum as hell . its really aaaaawesome

  • @ianb1967 i will admit i dig the chaka video though

  • @ianb1967 you lost my respect when you added e to the perfectly good word shit

  • Lyrics that I'm barely paying any attention to aside, this is my new number one uplifting song, something about it just calms me and lets me resume doing my own thing. Ambient black metal is amazing!

  • @lokikotemia I hear ya! Do you happen to know more bands like WiiTR?

  • One of my favorite album covers.

  • @ianb1967 no lyrics? no rhythm? you know nothing about music do you? you must live a sad, sad life :(

i am truly sorry for the life you have to live :'(

  • USBM \m/

  • @ianb1967 Says the Brit whos page is full of homosexual beep-music? Haha

  • For people who like WITTR, search up the band Winterus. They're a USBM band signed to Lifeforce Records in Germany. They're based out of the area I'm from in Michigan and they some what like WITTTR. They're also a personal favorite of mine.

  • so this is what passes as black metal these days... very weak & uninspired spirits at work here

  • @gatver22 I think fans of modern black metal need to be reintroduced to the classics.

  • @Hamgammy Indeed & develop a more critical ear

  • @gatver22 well, that depends on the individual who`s listening to it, right?

  • anyone got more then "I must not say i love you, for your/the..." ?? since my english isn't that good it's kinda hard to grab

  • @baum42 Meh, I think that's the only stuff we got. Once in a while I can hear a scentence, but that's just one and not the complete mofo. I think the last scentence in the song is something like ''A shadow in spite of the light(s)". Could be wrong though. It keeps you busy doesn't it? :P

  • didn't like the band the first time I heard them. but after what I've been through recently they move me in a completely different way

  • can anybody get me the lyrics to the song? im in LOVE with this track and would really appreciate the lyrics. thanks!

  • just enjoy the music, otherwise, shut the f up and listen to limp bizkit

  • you pple are so gay

  • @christthi wrong. isis is dead, and give me one other band close to them that is nearly commercial

  • Hmmm first time I listened to them... I must say great vocals and a nice thick sound from the guitars and drums

  • So hipster, yet so awesome.

  • 3:03 is to die for....

  • Can someone please help me find the lyrics for this one?

  • If being metal head means to be an ignorant pseudo satanic faggot, i am not.

  • Yes they are very in touch with the natural forces and show it in there music, but They are talking about more than that amigo. Their second album covered the ancient myths of destruction conflagration and rebirth in terms of (what we would call) industrial society. If you check out their two hunters LP you'll notice an extra track titled "to reveal" and that gives way to their black cascade album. It reveals occult knowledge, their journey and our demise. Their music has been a catalyst for me.

  • finally someone who knows what the fuck their talking about with this band instead of all the repition of this song is great this song sounds dark and gloomy isn't anyone hearing/getting THE MEANING? you did. nice job

  • @KatimSuccubus

Its a side of doom and gloom that ive never seen. stumbling on this band was like striking gold for me really, kind of fit my persona and showed me more from there.

  • You point a shattered mirror at the world, and mock those who dare to look. But you, most of all, are affraid of what you might see! In the glass!

But i must say, I love you! For your! Petitions, as fear as your wand, your words have sunken through. The ravens will go with your time, and the crows will say your name!

As they build their winter nest, from your hair, bones and seeed!!!

They will save this memory right before the crescent star will wash it all away!

  • @dovezflyhere you know they are singing about the earth right?

  • @dovezflyhere are those the lyrics? and if they are, then how in the fuck did you get them? cuz WITTR didnt publish them.

  • @95Bcool haha ive listened to it many many times, thats the thing about this album, they didnt publish the lyrics, so its kind of an adventure. Im sure i paraphrased them a little but you get the basic meaning.

  • @dovezflyhere I asked Nathan about the lyrics to this album when I saw them live on the Celestial Lineage tour. All his reasons aside for the band not publishing them, he stressed that the line was not "I love you". He actually spoke this entire verse to me. It's upsetting I can not recall what the rest is, but the first line is indeed "I will still serve and love you".

  • @MaximumKillcount Always wondered if he actually said I love you. Thanks for clarifying this.

  • @MaximumKillcount

can you tell me why they didnt publish them?

  • i love to listen to this while taking a warm bath!

  • I still listen to Dimmu Borgir because they are talented and make music that's fun to listen to. But this has an atmosphere, an aura that will never by available at Best Buy or Hot Topic

  • @NewMargaritaville Funny you should mention that, because I bought this album on vinyl at a hot topic.

  • Comment removed

  • @christthi isis was great

  • Never been into black metal, or hardly any metal for that matter. But this band creates such an amazing atmosphere within their music. I'm glad that the US has a band this great in a genre that is so dominated by the Europeans. Also that they have put their own spin on the genre. This isn't about worshipping satan and dressing up like a pack of queers. WIITR's music is about embracing the natural world, it's antiquity, and the striving for a more respectful earthly existence.

  • i don't know why i think something is missing in this album, i miss the old WITTR :/

the tremolo riffs sound a little tiredful, plus that they arent that good IMO, i really enjoy the repitition utilised by this band, but the riffs make it kinda boring.. plus that the earthly and mystical atmosphere isn't there anymore... :( i wish their next album is much better!! :((

  • @95Bcool Seconded.

  • @Timetakesusall so do you agree or not??? feel free to expess your opinion.

  • @95Bcool I meant that I agreed. The new(er) album isn't bad, but Two Hunters was just so atmospheric and beautiful. This album has a few of those moments; but as a whole is much more raw. This might appeal to some people, but I do miss the "earthly" and "mystical" elements that you mentioned.

  • @Timetakesusall and also in my opinion the vocals have no emotion at all, unlike, for example, their studio debut, Diadem of 12 Stars. Just harsh vocals... and the riffs don't sound as "big" as those on Two Hunters.. and the guitars should've been louder in the mix IMO.. the production as a whole kinda makes this album very dull for me..

P.S. can you compare any of the riffs in black cascade to those in Vastness & Sorrow or I Will Lay Down My Bones Among The Rocks And Roots?? i bet not..

  • Great BM song, but i think that band is a little bit overrated... I saw them live last year and, naja. Sounds like the debut of NYCTALGIA...

  • @christthi ´There's potential risks of selling out Black Metal.`

ROTFGDFLMFAO! You sound like the CIA on terrorism, hahahaha. About some music...stop pretending please.

  • @fulcinerd lolwut!

  • fuck yeah WolvesINTTR!! for me, black metal has always been an art that addresses a certain darkness that we all have in us. the struggle within at which point this blackness spreads over you like a cold shadow. being engulphed in despair and facing it head-on with fullspeed brutality.

and compared to oldskool black metal bands like darkthrone and mayhem, i like how they've shaped the genre into what it is now. they have a certain elegance.

  • Ex Cathedra = Out of church [or cathedral]

  • @Guitarscreech06 actually it means " from the chair" and it refers to something in the catholic church that i like to call "pope mode" where anything the pope says is divinely inspired. im not catholic so i could have messed up but i think thats the main gist...

a bit weird if you ask me

  • @wayfechylde3

Coincidently I just looked this phrase up and it's exactly like you said :)

  • @wayfechylde3 I think it's called Papal Infalibility, anything the Pope says 'From the chair' is not wrong because it has divine power on it's side. It's spurious bullshit haha

(btw I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, just thought I'd clarify :) )

  • @itsben94 go right ahead, im not catholic or anything, im just going by what i know (which isnt much). thanks man!

  • 3:07 "I love you"

  • @Razwithz I thought i was the only one who heard it. Makes me want to know the lyrics even more now.

  • @purplemerk95 yeah i heard it and i was like "huh?, bm and love toghether?..... this... is... AWESOME!!" hell yeah, me too, too bad they don't publish their lyrics :/

  • Awesome song. I love the part from 07:25 !

  • People who don't like USBM are retards.

  • @igotwoodhaha ppl who distinct bands by their countries are retards ;)

  • this song is beautiful. takes you into another world

  • Try googling mp3ify, just one i.

  • 3:03 - the most beautiful thing i have ever heard in a black metal song...so pure

  • 7:30 Amazing Riff!!!!!!!

  • Raw BM from the US.....so gooood.

  • I'm certain this is my favourite song of theirs. I found "Black Cascade" on double vinyl and couldn't be happier. They're now one of my favourite groups; thanks for posting!!!

  • i saw that and wanted to buy but i didn't have the money, and of course as soon as i got the money it had sold like the day before. but ya its a great album.

  • @killhatemurderkill

Ach, that's so typical. I hope you find it soon!

  • His vocals remind me a lot of Varg's in this song.

  • this song got me into this band.

  • To everyone who disses USBM, I offer these guys as evidence to the contrary.

  • @brnleague99 No one disses usbm, GBK is great! These commies in other hand are not.

  • @brnleague99 Xasthur as well, my favorite USBM artist and also my favorite BM artist

  • @brnleague99 Northwest for the win!

  • @ChapelOvBlood Where are you?

  • @SillySantaHat portland oregon

  • @ChapelOvBlood Word. Me too.

  • @brnleague99 I might point them in the direction of Agalloch as well.

  • @brnleague99 its like with se french; 1 in a million :-D

  • One of the most impressive BM bands of this generation IMHO

  • Those bands are good black metal evolved and how you going to call these guys freaks. Look at those two bands you just listed infulenced bands like this. SO FUCK OFF

  • They disbanded and other bands took influence from them.

  • Its good to hear a good new black metal cd it seems its been awhile since there has been some good releases.

  • well, black cascade is not as good as two hunters ... two hunters had a darker, more dramatic and desolate sound. its fine BM nonetheless.

  • for me, black cascade is way better.

  • I just herd this last night amazing song.

  • cant touch wittr \m/

  • For me Black Metal is not about being evil. That was perhaps an image back at the early norwegian black metal years to attract people's attention.

If playing at 200 bmp with random blast beats and bad production is what "true" is then I'm definitely a poser.

Black Metal for me is something like this song or some of Burzum's best's. It needs to touch the listener emotionally/spiritually and if you have to use keyboards for that then its more that ok.

  • very well said.

  • Black metal is more about individualism, pushing towards the artists, not the label or masses. That's why to me, there are so many black metal bands that have a great sound, and are far more intelligent than most others that are nothing more then record sales.

  • ABSOLUTELY !!!!!!! I talk to people about BM and they all fucking laugh or tell me it's all shit but they don't have enough sense to just "hear" the music. Also you may like Forgotten Woods, an old school black metal band that I recently discovered. "As the wolves gather" is a great album.

  • see the thing is is that with any genre especially power death and black metal who suffer this stereotype too often, naysayers say it all sounds the same. Yet they could just simply listen to the music and tell different. POwer metal i mean everyone just says i hate that dragonforce but yet when they first started they were good. no one every mentions stormwarrior, spellblast, warcry, stratovarius, cellador. People who dont listen fall into this trap with any genre really its sad.

  • Yes,that's true!

  • @BLCEK

I totally agree with you! It's music to transport emotions and visions, no matter if it's hate, melancholy, sadness or whatever. WitT are masters of great music. Could listen to it the whole fucking day!

  • @BLCEK Well said brother. Black metal is about creating a spiritual, romanticist, pagan atmosphere. It's about bringing those ancient values back to life through music, not about brutality and how "true" a band is. At least, that's how I see it.

  • WITTR aren't nihilistic at all. They try to seperate themselves from the satanic, nihilistic, and NSBM.. hence is where they say they are "eco-spiritual".

  • most of these comments are ridiculous

  • Nico you are a douchebag. So you are trying to recapture the "evil" sound of black metal? So you are really in a copycat band. Nothing original. WITTR, Watain are way more "true"(as you say) then Gayhem and Burzum. Emperor in my opinion are THEE greatest black metal band. Windir were amazing. You never mentioned Absu. They destroy anything Mayhem or Burzum ever put out. Go listen to your faggot Gorgoroth. Leave WITTR, Wataina nd Dissection to the "true" black metal fans.

  • @doomwitch666 You mention Watain, but not Dissection? :/

  • wow, awesome song.

I forgot Black Cascade released and just got around to listening to it now......almost as good as Two Hunters!

  • depends i still think diadem of 12 stars is their best album. Actually this albuym si growing and is becoming my favorite very fast.

  • isis is nearly commercial now, on the cover of decibel and such...

WITTR however will not sell out, unless its just an act which i highly hope is untrue. although i just read an interview and wow i was blown away by how serious they were to the point i questioned if it was all just an act...

  • sounds amazing, i shall pick it up! hopefully on vinyl.. hehe

  • Very great band

  • I don't think so. I'm not a green anarchist, but I've had flirtations with it, and it seems like what's happening in popular culture is this useless "go green" thing that doesn't address any real issues.

  • Comment removed

  • Great, thanks for sharing that with all of us. I will definitely be able to sleep better knowing that your band, and also about 758 black metal bands are "bringing back the true blackness that black metal once was". But yet, you are going to add symphonic elements...so basically you are going to be doing the same crap that has plagued black metal the last 10 years. Stop memorizing interviews and Terrorizer and go finish drawing Pentagrams on your sneakers, what a scrote.

  • Sry, I meant keyboards like wolves in the throne room use. I didn't really describe it properly. My bad

  • I have seen WITTR several times. I have yet to see them play with a keyboard.

  • dude stfu marvin gaye is the shit so is black metal

  • Wow. These guys are seriously pretty much the only Black Metal band which still captures what bands like Mayhem captured in the early 90's. Material this good hasnt been released since In the Nightside Eclipse and the such! Amazing!

  • Not the only.

  • Anyone know where I can get the album? I need it bad...

  • saw it at best buy last week... kinda shocked me.

  • i have fell in love with this album!

  • His voice has now more anger than in "Two Hunters"

In "Two Hunters" it was more melancholic.

    But I still like it.

  • Wolves is one of the few bands on earth that I would never expect to sell out. True Black Metal has a philisophy that you must hold on to and the band members take it seriously.

  • @ibsayem1337

And huh would you look at that. WITTR already sold out by being an American band. Fuck off with your nigger "black metal", USA.

  • isis commercial? what the fuck were you smoking? haha

  • Wolves are really shaming the europeans, this is some of the most moving black metal ever (along with Drudkh)

  • what do you want to say ?

  • I was really looking forward to buying this! I could just download it, but I haven't bought an album in a while, and downloading just ain't the same! Trve fans collect! Just getting mp3's is shit false!

  • i was under the assumption that they were giving up on the ambient for this album, so when the ambient dreamscape kicks in 6:15-7:30 was such an experience, i literally just froze in place and tried to let it's awesomeness all sink in. took me a good 10 listens to get past that reaction. Great song altogether though. so many high points, but the ending especially slays as well.

  • I like such 10-20 mins long suites. Great band, must have all their records!!!

  • Interesting... need to hear more ... I`m not that into Black Metal, but this is really interesting...

  • I'd been trying, and failing, to find Black Metal that got it right for a decade. Now I can't get enough of the stuff. Each of their albums has a distinct energy and structure to it. Try em all.

  • Fucking classic. WITTR! Can't wait for their latest release

  • This IS their latest release foo'

  • It's to be released in 2 more days. That's what I said, can't wait for this.

  • my favourite too rofl

  • my favorite on the album too. it's a great song

  • My favourite on this album. 5/5
