  • man, i wish i knew the b-29 was in the area at the time, i would have loved to have seen her

  • The persons who now fly these planes, Must appreciate how much the world of freedom admires this! What an awesome airplane this was for its time!

  • Awesome Airplane!

  • Spine tingling sound :-) Fabulous

  • Oh that sound is so glorious.

  • where is the dual 50-cal anti aircraft gun?:D Or where you in the bombguy area?

  • @lwkleijn this view is from the nose / bombardier position.

  • @jasonacsalesltd but thers still an mg missing ;-(

  • if i were able to i would give nearly everything to fly such a beatiful Aircraft a Ford tri ju zero theyre awesome and i would try to get rich just have the money to buy or rent one and bring it up ´nto the air^^

  • I love the b-29, I would like the super fortress over the stratofortress or the spirit any day

  • Beautiful lady...... Thanks for getting her up in the air !

  • This plane is awesome!! You guys that are keeping this beautiful plane really deserve a debt of graditude from all Americans for keeping something like this alive!!!

  • i can't really tell if this is a flight sim or real

  • 54.85 L engine

    O____o

  • Aprox 1:25... the symphony starts. What an amazingly beautiful chorus. I listened to the whole thing.

  • was that the front gunners window?

  • Oh the things I would to to experience than loud, harsh, uncomfortable ride as well! :) Awesome video. Loved the takeoff!

  • you must be the happiest men in the world, so cool

  • best seat in the house. that or TG. wish theyd let me fly in the ball turret though. but i can see why this usually isnt allowed. cause if theres a gear malfunction, and you cant get out. you and the ground become one

  • You can just feel the power on takeoff! Beautiful airplane from an era never to be forgotten!

  • I thought the B-29 used Pratt Whitney Engines?

  • i just saw fifi at the airshow in Reading, PA yesterday. great airplane. always a joy to see her fly.

  • Thanks for the video and quick flight onboard "FIFI", she really is a beauty. My dream will come true if i ever get a flight onboard one of these old WWII Bombers.

Is the bomb-sight that shows in the vid still working and all the electrical wiring for the bombardier to open and close bomb-bay doors etc?

  • @Emotator The bay doors do function, but quite honestly I followed the old aviation mantra of "If it's dusty or painted red don't touch it" so I'm not the one to tell you if it really works. I'd have to refer this question to Dave the Flight Engineer who is the real expert on this plane. But as for restoration, they did an amazing job of making her look correct.

  • @jasonacsalesltd Does she still have her original engines?

  • @MrJp990 They just finished a re-engine project in 2010 which added some power and increased reliability I believe the cost ran upwards of $1 million dollars for engines and parts, and most labor was volunteer. The CAF has several good short videos about the process. If you happen to see Fifi and can't afford to fly her, if you enjoy these old bombers drop a couple bucks off with the volunteers

  • @jasonacsalesltd are they atleast reproductions of the Wright R-3350 Duplex Cyclone engines

  • @MrJp990 no it was re-engined with newer R3350 engines.... same design but newer revision of that engine. they had allot of problems with the original engine. it is the correct R3350 engine but a later, more reliable version of that same engine.

  • @Emotator is this the kinda plane that bombed the shit outa japan

  • @cber8860 yes it certianly is!

  • @cber8860 Yes sir, same plane as the Enola Gay

  • @Emotator the bomb-sightdosent have wiring but and i dont no if da bombay can open and close tho some planes can and some cant bcuz i have flown in a b 17 and i looked down the sight and i saw the bomb bay open and close so idk

  • Would really like to see this amazing aircraft in Cleveland, Oh.

Our building was originally built as a wing assembly plant for the B-29 bombers in the 40's. We have converted the building into convention center, I-X Center Corp. We launched a show called Piston Power, If a piston makes it go it's in the show. We had the Memphis Belle B-17 last year and it is back by this year. Would be an amazing site to see both side by side inside the show. Would make many people very happy to see this.

  • You, sir, possess all of my envy that I can possibly muster. I really look forward to seeing her at Airventure.

  • Is this a flight sim?

  • @alexanderthegreat437 --- of sorts--- a bit of re-enactment taking a pacific theater long range heavy bomber out over ships in the pacific with islands on the horizon. Spooky it was. The ghosts of WW2 were definitely riding along. Of the 45 different types of aircraft I have flown in as a pilot or crew this was the loudest, harshest, least comfortable but enjoyed it a lot. Almost as much as flying an open cockpit bi-plane.

  • Flew over my campus at 3:00

  • If you ever fly over jewett city Connecticut ,MAKE IT LOW AND LOUD PLEASE ! ...real cool stuff here !

  • A view, and an opportunity beyond description. Wow

  • Great, thanks for taking me on this flight.

In the cold light of day reality sinks in. This is how it was for airmen over Japan during WW2, not the grainy black and white film we're mostly used to but a real insight into colours and sounds in real time. One can only surmise what it was like to have a Hyabusa comming straight for you....

Cheers for the crew and the guy who took this film, much appreciated...

  • Wow was it fun flying in there.

  • Excellent!! God bless Fifi and may she fly forever!!

  • Thank you for sharing this. My dad flew these during the early SAC days. It must have been incredible.
