@jwawrzon I hardly see suicide as being "selfish" in any way. When you're in that state of suicidal thinking, all you want is for that terrible pain to just stop. Sometimes the thoughts are more powerful than the people who bravely try to fight them off every day, and sometimes the desperation hits rock bottom. And by then, you're thinking the people you love are better off without you. I'm certainly not advocating suicide, but I think it's very judgmental and even cruel to call it selfish.

In a time when life was uncertain and control over your life was completely out of your own hands, to take your own life was something positive. That person had control of life and death, the greatest power man can achieve, like the Roman Imperators. That was the last song that they listened because it's so sad and emotional. After these happenings the people begun to title Gloomy Sunday as the Anthem of Suicidal people. It's just an urban legend.

If you didnt already know, the song was composed in 1933.. Its obviously a very emotionally sad song,but it was dubbed over by billie holiday and was banned from many countries during the time of WW2.. There was alot of suffering and heart ache during that time, so, many people committing suicide after 'listening to the song' would have had many other emotional issues due to that devestating time.

@loladarkgirl1 I would talk to you no matter what i wouldn't just up and stop. i believe i could love if someone loved me back...thanks for the encouragement but the pain is still like gritting teeth ravaging my heart. but at the same time i feel some what better...i hope i can find love because my confidence level is at a all time low and girls hate guys that have low self confidence i would know they called me a fag and all kind of things just because i expressed my feelings. If you didnt already know, the song was composed in 1933.. Its obviously a very emotionally sad song,but it was dubbed over by billie holiday and was banned from many countries during the time of WW2.. There was alot of suffering and heart ache during that time, so, many people committing suicide after 'listening to the song' would have had many other emotional issues due to that devestating time.

so many people are depressed these days. i mean clinical depression, not just feeling crabby. most people have no idea what depression really is. if u dont want people to suicide, support the venus project, change our environment so that depression will be rare, rather than a common thing.
to me, suicide is still a logical move.

@UnluckyGambler , I was depressed once and stayed more or less like that for a year.It was close to hell , but believe me : you can get better , Iknow that today .
I felt paralized and I couldn't do nothing. The humans around me seemed unable to understand, thinking I was making some kind of acting ! A good doctor and a pet started the miracle and today my life is not perfect, but posible.
there is a way out and I'm sure others can found it too .

@UnluckyGambler It's you who shouldn't be so quick to assume. Through my own hard work and TONS of help I've been able to find what it is to be happy. No, I'm not cheery and bright and shit, but I've realized what suicide can do. It's the second weakest act that any human can do, and it's extremely selfish. This is my opinion based off of my own experiences. I know (generally) why people attempt suicide.
And yes. I do call that weak. And I do find you a very selfish person.

Yes, it is selfish for someone to want someone to suffer just so they can stay around, but it's still selfish (TO ME) to hurt a lot of people because you want the easy way out.

if u want to call suicides selfish, fine, but u must also call those who want the suicidal people to live selfish as well. either theyre all selfish, or the suicides are not selfish (though other people still can be called selfish). in the end, selfish or not, its not very meaningful. life is full of hurt, if u want to actually help people and minimize suffering, join the zeitgeist movement. seriously, look it up.
