IF ANY OF YOU THINK THIS IS COUNTRY MUSIC, YOU THEN ARE MORALLY AND ETHICALLY CONFUSED. IN FACT, YOU ARE PROBABLY JUST TOTALLY CONFUSED AS A WHOLE. @cbatt13 keith urban is ok...but this is motherfucking good country...there are less and less true country artists as far as i know there's still jamey johnson, josh turner(bitty modern), if you could suggest me other names that would be great
Alright so if you love this song as much as I do, you have to check out his UNRELEASED alternate version of this song on YouTube!! I just put it up, like so Ryan Bingham fans can hear the different version!!!! The video is on my page
Every time I listen to this song it makes my island fever worse. I've been on Maui for a year and I need to get back to Texas. "Warm winds blowing, heat and blue sky, and a road that goes forever..." - Chris Rea
The best thing about a musician like Ryan is that you really can't compare him to anyone. His voice and lyrics are unique to only him. Country, folk, outlaw country, it doesn't matter to me what you call it because his voice, lyrics, and songs remind me of home.
I know the back roads he's talking about and I took a few wrong turns down them too. I got lost in Magnolia with a broken soft top on a cold night. Now it's a good Texas memory
@Asymmetricalmind Chris Knight, chris ledoux, cody johnson band, hank williams III, and of course jerry jeff walker... i dont know what you mean by similar style but all of these guys are not the new pop country and everyone of there songs has a story behind it
just because this song is upbeat does not make it the pop country bull shit... it tells a great story just like all of his other songs.... he will never fall into the nashville crowd he is a real country boy thats gonna stay true to his roots and keep the soul of real country alive for west texas boys like me
just because this song is upbeat does not make it the pop country bull shit... it tells a great story just like all of his other songs.... he will never fall into the nashville crowd he is a real country boy thats gonna stay true to his roots and keep the soul of real country alive for west texas boys like me
@Asymmetricalmind I would suggest on top of those, Hayes Carll, Justin Townes Earle, Jason Isbell, all of whom toured together. Also Ben Nichols/Lucero, and of course the godfather's Steve Earle, Robert Earl Keen.
I love Ryan Bingham, but this song is dangerously close to the border of "Pop Country." I don't think it quite made it over to "Sugarland" or "Lost Trailers" territory, but it's almost to Nashville.
I like the fact that he finally got the recognition he deserves, but didn't cross over into pop country. STAY TRUE TO YOUR ROOTS RYAN! For the sake of all that makes country music pure...DON'T SELL OUT TO NASHVILLE PLEASE!
Who cares where he is from, he makes great country music and that's what we're all here for right? people need to stop bringing their petty bullshit into everything
Just so everyone knows, he's originally from New Mexico. His family had a large ranch just outside of Hobbs, NM and a bar (which you can see the remnants of in his music videos). Unfortunately, his mother, Cindy, is no longer with us, but his Dad lives in Texas now, and His uncle, Clay, helped him start his music career. My mom was married to his Uncle Tommy, so I'm not just making stuff up.
This is TRUE Americana, pure gold! He's got more has talent in his littel finger than, well, ...most people! As a New Mexico native, I couldn't be more proud of him, and I really, really hope he wins the OSCAR!!
@KOsbournTx No, From New Mexico. moved to texas cause his dad was in Oilfield and had to move alot then dropped out of school. when he lived in Ranger Texas at 16 or 17 cant remember
@BigSexyKracker@jwlondon7 Texas, New Mexico you gotta admit, the film definitely looked like it could have been filmed in both states. Pretty awesome song regardless of what country roads comes up in your mind when listening to it.
there's a definite steve earle-esque sound to this. i like it!
