  • I like the flowers with the wall color but if you are painting it brown the flowers need to go I think you did a wonderful job sponge painting. If you hadn't said anything I wouldn't have known you did it

  • better with flowers...they're not so bad :-) actually i like them :-O

  • i think you did a great job actually :) i would leave it to be honest it will look better to ur husband i bet once you finish so PLEASE my opinion leave it and finish the project!!! cant wait to see the finished project. and oh just a thought what about using some gold in it too? mine is kinda similar and what i did is take a craft sponge and gold paint and lightly sponge just enough for a lil accent it looks great in my kitchen and it goes great with the brown but just an idea :)

  • They look better painted and you did good

  • Dump the flowers!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ur idea rocks. much better

  • looks better painted! :)

  • I like what you did with the paint..it looks good on what you did dear...i would love for you to come to my place and help me pull my house together. I live in Michigan..is that too far?

  • I would wait it out and pay for the ones you really like recently in my my house we are somewhat redoing our bathroom but beforemy mom did that kind of sponge thing and decoded to buy a new top now if u are really in a crunch for money( which I can understand) just paint all them(not the spongey look just a plain look) and buy some chocalate color decal and put them there and there and it will look better for inexpensive

  • I think the flowers date your home...and are ugly. I dont think the painting looks bad at all but them again maybe it looks different in person. I wouldnt have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out. The flowers... well..... you know how they look already ;)

  • Against the flowers!

  • It's hard to see the flowers but then again things sometimes look a bit different on camera than in person. I suggest sponge painting the flowers BUT then painting a different design on top of them to make it even less noticeable, even just a diamond where each flower was or something like that would really update it.

  • Paint the walls first brown and see how it will look, then if you don't like it you can sponge paint them. From what it looks on the video the tile looks good after you painted them but it is a lot of work that's why i think you should paint the walls first. good luck

  • the sponge painting blends in sponge painting

  • The...

  • Live with flowers!!!!

  • Don't do it,flower with brown walls

  • I think you should leave it flowers and do the chocolate walls. The brown will make the flowers look better and if you don't like it then try sponging it.

  • honestly you can hardly notice, painted bit miles better then flowers. Get some tile paint and paint it, you can always the get tile transfers and cut to size - if you are going to paint the wall brown go for little mosiac one in different shades of brown and cream. I think get actual tile paint as everytime you wash your tiles down the paint will come off.

  • Why not keep the flowers, paint the wall chocolate brown & than go in with a fine-tipped brush, and re-colour the flowers to something else?

  • I think you should paint all the tiles on the same top row so they don't look like random repair patches.

  • I like the sponge paint. if you use ceramic paint it will stay forever. I've painted my bathroom tiles four years ago and it still looks great

  • I would live with the flowers until you want to or can replace...I painted tiles before & they ended up peeling & being very hard to clean when they got dingy/dusty/dirty...the flowers are not that bad, I would just save yourself the time of painting them & then replace with new tiles that you truly loved...just my opinion though!

  • PAINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It looks a lot better

  • I just thought of something I know the smart tiles didn't work. But what if you had my decAl lady make you something custom to fit each tile? I mean you could take a picture of the not flowered tile and have her turn it into a sticker. She prints on exterior quality Vinal and if it's custom made then the grout and everything would match! Side note though the paint doesn't look bad!

  • I like the painted version better :)

  • I don't think the paint is that bad.

  • Have you tried wall paper or conact paper. The paint isnt that bad but you could cut the paper to size. Or use mirrors.

  • you did a good job on this, why not just paint it. Go for it :)

  • Fk the flowers - sponge look much better!!

  • hey, have you thought about wall stickers/decals to cover up the weird flowers? You could choose a nicer motif or letters... ;-) They are easy to apply and peel of easily as well!!

  • PAINT!

  • They make like, that cool paint that's specific for tiles. I don't really know much about it, I'm sorry, but I've seen it on a bathroom re-do video and it seemed really cool. I'm sure if you googled it, you'd find it or something similar. Just a suggestion. I know you're probably way tired of painting! Haha.

  • Paint the tiles!!!!!

  • I like your painting better than the original

  • @BeautyDiva100 I AGREE WITH HER

  • i love the sponge paint it does look nice netter then the flowers

  • Paint over the flowers.

  • oh, and if there is a flower on EVERY single tile, maybe you could leave every other one blobbed? and do one row of tiles every other flower and then underneath a blank blobbed row and then the next row down every other one again so the flowers aren't overwhelming? are they every single tile? just another thought...

  • I would paint first! You may like the flowers in a retro sort of way after you paint..they are kinda interesting. Your paint blobs aren't bad..when you got close up you could see the blobbing a little, but like you said not really noticable. PAINT FIRST. Maybe you could paint a few of the flowers whatever accent color you will have in there to tie it in?? I love vlogs like these :)

  • I love the painted tile! The sponge painting actually does make the tile look like stone (at least that's the way it comes off thru the camera). I would love to see your technique sometime for sponge painting. Every time I have tried it, it just looks like big blobs of paint everywhere.

  • Definitely the paint. You definitely can't tell from a distance.

  • PAINT! =)

  • spongepainting ... looks much better

  • I also think you should paint the bathroom the color you want..then maybe the flower will look better. the sponge painting looked okay through the camera.. good luck

  • I would pint those flowers for sure. The songe painted tiles look good from here.

  • I like the sponge painting, it looks the best of your options.

  • sponge paint is the better choice

  • Leave the flowers!!

  • I would paint your walls choc brown before you decide. I think the flower things wont look that bad after.

  • keep it it looks better

  • on some shows you see spray painting there tiles

  • I didn't even notice it was painted!

  • its hard to tell on the vid ..but i think the paint looks fine!! u cant even notice

  • Paint them what you did looks great!

  • paint is much better :) good idea

  • Paint them! They look really good!

  • i dont like the "ugly" flowers but it looks better than the other side...

  • Paint Them! I couldn't tell at all!

  • Have you thought about getting them glazed or buying a kit to do it yourself? Its kind of like getting a bath tub refinished. That way you do not have to spend money for new tile, but get a new look

  • I like the flowers, and if you paint the walls above a nice dark brown, it'll look really great!

  • paint them!!

  • paint them.. it looks better and u are rite u can't tell the difference from a far ...

  • Painted side looks so much better. It looks like it was done purposefully to give a cool looking border.

  • hm what about tile stickers? why couldn't they work? if i'd have to chose, id pick the..stickers lol otherwise go painting!

  • I definitely think the painted side looks way better. It a good transition as you wait to update the tile.

  • Once you paint the varnish on it will get glossy,

They look pretty good so far, if you can keep them looking close to that go for it.

Things like that don't bother most guys,, like me,, and I'm guessing your husband :)

  • Paint the tiles!

  • Yeah paint them!

  • Paint them you could even add some of the chocolate brown color to the sponge paint to bring in the wall color and maybe just do the whole first row not just every other

  • I think the sponge paint looks good! I love the way that you just go for it by the way!

  • I think the painted tiles look better but you may need a second coat.

  • Honestly, if you really want to get rid of the flowers, use a belt sander. You should be able to sand the flower away. Get a small jar of polyurethane gloss and it will look as though the ugly flowers were never there. This of course is all in theory. :)

  • I like the sponge paint, looks awesome!!

  • Paint them they look really good!!

  • The painted ones look good!!

  • Paint the tiles!

  • looks good from here, paint the tiles. :)

  • I agree with some other posters about painting the entire top row in an accent color. That way they'll all look really uniform. Honestly, I don't think the painting you did looks bad - I can't even really notice. The painted ones came up looking a bit lighter on camera than the other tiles (but maybe it's just the lighting or my computer). I happen to like the flowers also, but i think little pops of vintage are cute w/the right accessories =). Either way I don't think you can lose =)

  • Paint them,I didn't notice.

  • i think the flowers look fine!

  • sponge painting!!

  • actually I didn't notice they were painted!!.... if i were you... i'd go ahead and paint them. likey!

  • Paint them!! They look good.

  • Comment removed

  • I like the painted tiles! You did good! Wish I could see it with more light though

  • PAINT THE TILES!!!! you can't tell unless you know that it's there

  • The time and costs you already made on these tiles...you probably could just have had cheap white tiles put in ?! Good luck

  • I agree with some of the posts saying, paint the entire top row of tiles in an accent color. I think it could look really nice and very 'on purpose', and one thing about stuff in the bathroom - you spend a lot of time just 'sitting' there looking around, and to me, details in a bathroom are harder to overlook because of that. Lol weird, but true! Anyway, if you do them in an accent color, then you don't have to worry about making them blend. Good luck, let us know what you decide!

  • What if you paint it and then use some of those wall vinyls to coordinate with your bathroom colors and theme.

  • i think the painted tiles are WAY better than those ugly flower tiles. then when you paint the wall hang up a bright eye catching picture. no one will ever notice those tiles but you.

  • I think the flowers are not that bad.

  • Hey iv actully seen this one show were in sted of taking the tile down and get new ones they had a profetional tile painter come in insted so look it up and see if u can do that bye !!!

  • I would paint the whole row with brown or blue tile paint. I think that would look nice.

  • I couldn't tell thats the tiles were painted, it looked fine. BUT I like the flowers, I think they look a bit 70's and will be cool with chocolate walls, especially with some orange accessories. I get that it's not your thing though. I have pink tiles and a pink bathrooom suite from the 80's (which I do not love!) which I cannot wait to get ripped out.

  • Keep the painted tiles...

  • Keep the sponge! lol

  • Hey you can also goto diy.com and type in your question. They will answer your question with a how to video. Just A Thought!

  • Ok sis, I like the way the sponge paint looks. But have you thought about just sponge painting the entire row of tiles around the bathroom to add an accent color? A color that will compliment the chocolate brown you are going to put on the wall? It can make a big statement and cover those ugly floral tiles.

  • Those flower are really... too old fashioned.

  • PAINTED LOOKS LOTS BETTER!!

  • Hey chickie I definitely think the painted looks better but I agree with alot of the posters here paint your walls the chocolate brown first then see which looks better before you totally commit to the paint and in the meantime maybe search other options that are cheap or ghetto as you would say. LOL love your posts you've inspired me to do my own channel coming soon........

  • To mrsprincesslily....I also painted over my mum kitchen cabinets and benchtop cos they were quite ugly too...used a laminate paint which also worked really well. She was overseas at the time - we wanted to surprise her

  • I would paint over the whole lot, not just the flower ones. A couple of years ago, I did just that to my mums bathroom, with tile paint over flower tiles that were so much uglier than yours. I also painted the bath tub in enamel paint. The bathroom looked so good!

  • I like the painted tiles better.

  • I like the painted ones...jus put a protective coat over the paint and I think it looks beautiful

  • Don't used latex, because all someone has to do is get water on your tile...and there goes your beautiful paint job.

  • I have the same situation...the kitchen is yellow, with yellow cabinets, and the backsplash in the kitchen looks yellow too - ugh. I don't smell smoke, but there is some minor cigarette smoke on my ceilings, so IDK if the kitchen is *painted* the yellow color, or its cig smoke damage...either way its gross.

all I want to do is paint the whole kitchen white white white, to rid the house of that nasty yellow look. But its so darn expensive to demo the dry wall...so I say paint!!

  • Sponge paint :D

  • I would also say painted tiles. But it must stay and not smudge the other tiles when you shower. Flowers are too old fashion.

  • I was going to suggest for you to paint them, but I really love those little flowers though. Ours are plain white, which I hate. Hey?!? Maybe I could paint them?!?! Oh girl, you are given me ideas over here! LOL! Good Luck! LOVE your videos btw! <3 Dig <3

  • painted tiles are way better

  • The painted tiles look way better than those flowers....

  • Sponge paint!!!

  • sponge paint!!! Way better!!! :)

  • Paint the walls first and see how the flowers look then.

  • @TheGloru2009 ^agree!

  • The paint looks a lot better! I dont think the paint looks ugly at all:)

  • I think the sponge paint looks fine :) you can get plain white square tiles for 1p in England but I suppose it all adds up?!

  • actually, the flowers are entirely terrible - i think you can make it work for now by painting the wall a color that will tie them in. good luck!

  • What are you talking about they're pretty leave them for now until you know you can afford to buy better ones, the design is adorable id love to have that seriously

I mean at least be happy it's not like chickens or fruits or weird things lol

The wall color actually compliments it beautifully :)

  • Your bathroom is better than mine, I have salmon (ugh!) pink textured tile and a pink pedestal sink and a white bathtub and toilet... so UGLY, and I cannot change it because we rent. You go girl and paint that tile, I know I would ;)

  • I like the idea with covering them up with squares of wall paper. There's some really funky designs out there that would look awesome with chocolate brown.

  • As long as the painted tiles look good in person (on camera they look just fine!) I like the painted tiles better. nice and neutral and then when you add decor you don't have to match it to the flowers :)

  • Paint walls first....then reevaluate the flowers.....good luck!!!

  • dont think the flowers are ugly lol infact if your painting the walls chocolate brown i would think it would give it a nice vintage feel. OR have you thought about colouring in the flowers in prettier colours once your walls are painted. Could look really shabby Chic!

  • Painted over looks much better!

  • Definately the left side (painted over side) is best looking. :)

  • I really like the flowers, honestly.

  • They have bathroom wall stickers you could cover them up with that. Or you can cut our a square of wall paper you like to cover each of the flower tiles... Let us know what you decide .. Good Luck ! Can't wait to see whatcha do

  • I would keep the flowers. They might be okay once the walls are painted.

  • Honestly I can't tell it's painted. I with you on the flowers ! They gotta go ! Have you tried to sand paper them to get them to come off ?

  • I didn't mind the flowers, but if you hate them, I say paint! I think if you paint the wall chocolate brown, it is going to draw out the tiles MORE and if you hate them, well....you see the issue :) Good luck!

  • Live with the ugly flowers...think you'll like it much better when the walls are painted.

  • My opinion is keep painting...looks great, cant even notice much...and it does look like art..like, spongy art...creative!!..

  • I could hardly see the difference in the video. If it makes you happy, paint them.

  • please do not paint your bathroom brown hun-Tabitha

  • My honest opinion...paint the entire top row of tiles to keep a cohesive look and cover the flowers you don't care for. Since you are painting the walls chocolate, finding a color in between your chocolate walls and current tiles, would maybe look like it was done on purpose. Hope this helps you. I found this on a blog about painting tile:

    First, surface preparation is critical.

The surface must be free of soap film, grout sealers, oil, wax and grease.

Second, use a water based BOND

  • paint is way better, no flowers .. :)

  • I think the flowers look fine. Once you paint the top part brown then you can decide what to do. But for now he flowers don't look bad. You dot want to ruin the tile with the paint.

  • I dont think the flowers are ugly o.o

  • i think the painted tile looks way better than the flowers! and you cant hardly see it.

  • Paint, I don't think it looks bad

  • Paint looks tons better! I agree with you on the flowers. Yuck! It will look beautiful when your done! :-)

  • I vote paint. It will look more modern and clean especially after you paint the wall brown! xoxo

  • I think the paint looks great, actually!

  • I think they look pretty good painted

  • They actually make a paint just for tiles..so you cld paint "all of them" so they wld match :) just a thgt..good luck!

  • omg, im sorry but I would totally keep what was there already. it actually doesnt look that bad at all but that paint looks terrible! Live with the flowers, I actully like them with the paint color.

  • I'm wondering if the paint will peel, crack, or dissolve after shower water hits it on a regular basis, hmmm, I think I would have painted the wall the chocolate brown, lived with that for awhile and you might be surprised the flowers might look better in contrast with the tile and blend the wall and tile colors together. Good Luck and have fun with the new project whatever you decide

  • PAINT PAINT PAINT! :D

  • Just another thought. You can go over it with bead board (it is cheap and can either be screwed in or glued on) and paint it white. Top it off with 2-3inch molding.

  • PAINT EM !!!!!!!

  • I vote for the tiles to be painted and paint the walls brown :)

  • @tigerandcookie, agree!

  • THE FLOWERS LOOK GOOD, LIFE IS TO SHORT FOR YOU TO WORRY ABOUT IT,

OR YOU HAVE TO MUCH TIME ON YOUR HANDS TO THINK ABOUT THAT TILE,

THE PLACE IS CLEAN THAT'S WHAT COUNTS... PLUS YOU WORK TO HARD...

    GIVE YOUR BRAIN A VACATION.........

  • how could you live with the flowers? you don't like them get rid of them...they will bother you until domes day..the flowers must GO!

  • The painted flowers look best.

  • It may take you forever, but get RID of those hideous flowers.

  • I couldnt even tell that the flowers until you zoomed!!!!!!!! PAINT IT :D

  • Paint it, you and your hubby are the only ones that are gonna see it b/c its in your master bathroom. So it dosent have to be perfect but it gets rid of the flowers you don't like. So if it was me id paint them. Hope that helps, and you have to post whatever the outcome is!!

  • I think I would rather do away with the flowers. Do you plan on (you may have mentioned this) sealing the painted ones in some way?

  • I totally couldn't even tell you had painted them. I say paint them all!

  • wow, nice job, you cant even see the flowers that were covered. Definitely cover all of them!! :)

  • Leave the flowers and paint the wall, then decide :)

  • I actually think the flower tile is pretty, personally.

  • Definitely paint every tile the way you sponged your example. Hubby will hopefully get on board once it is all done...not digging the flowers!

  • Well done. At least you can live with the painted tile until you are able to spend the time and money on removing the tile all at once.

  • OMG I cant even tell there were ever flowers there. PAINT!

  • I would just keep it until you can totally redo the bathroom. I have the most ugly wheat themed tiles in the shower of our master batha la 1968 but it stays until we can take it all down and start over.

  • I would leave the flowers and just bare with them for the time being. In the video, I honestly couldn't tell at first that the tiles were painted, but maybe wif I was standing there they'd be noticeable. And I like the flower tiles lol

  • you cant even tell cover the flowers!

  • Paint it.
