  • See, now I found the plot twist at the end to be baffling. How did get people to want to join? Did he just punch himself?

  • I agree with all of your review except for that fact you seemed to think only men would enjoy this film. I saw Fight Club a few days but I feel like if I had seen this review first I might not have been as bothered to watch it(as I'm a girl), which would have been unfortunate because I absolutely loved it!

  • Loved the review but we are still going to have to cut of your balls..

  • I have to give it 7.5 out of 10. too many issues with the script.

  • I was a bit disappointed by Fight Club.

Good points: Brad Pitt is out of character like Denzel in Training Day, the concept is beautiful & it doesn't side track.

Bad points: The story makes no logical sense at all unless you're overwhelmed by the good parts, no history, no logic to episodes when Tyler is in control or not, too many hints to suggest they're the same person (unlike 6th Sense twist).

The script was badly written in my opinion it needed more logic, being bad ass isn't enough.

  • @Jugularkill Really? What hints suggested they were the same person at all? Give me one.

  • @Jugularkill uhm, have you seen any of david finchers other movies? After Fight Club, that was kind of his trademark? The reason why there isn't much history is because it's not important. we already know the important bits. Jack (or whatever you want to call this sad pillock) has trouble sleeping and is "feeding," himself through others pain. It's completely logical. Then Marla comes into his life. As "Jack," he can't possibly be with her, so he forms this fantasy, in which he can.

  • @TheQoler But when this all gets out of hand, and his own self-image is at stake, he flees. "Tyler Durden," however does not, and begins to teach "Jack," to ignore his own needs in order to fully grasp that no material matter is worth anything of value in real life, and that "it's only when you've lost everything, that you're free to do anything. He also teaches "Jack," that self-preservation is a form of masturbation, while self-destruction is the true way to gain inner peace. It's zen.

  • I am a girl, This looks(on the face of it) a perfect film for me. will you please stop putting it into a "male only" category. please? I can't wait till I'm old enough to buy this film, and the book. :-D

  • @missmoomoopig why do you watch the review if you aren't old enough to buy it/watch it?

  • @TheQoler I've seen it now, "borrowed" it from my sisters room. I watched the review to see what it was all about and if it was my type of thing, isn't that what people usually watch/read reviews to find out?

  • @missmoomoopig usually yes, but since you had to ask if it was violent i wa skeptical about you actually making it through this movie. after all you see a guys face getting beating to the point where you can't recognize his face, followed by this line; "I just felt like destroying something beautiful." That's usually the breaking point for a few of my girlfriends. But the real question was why did you bother looking up a movie you knew you probably didn't have the stomach to watch? Just asking.

  • @TheQoler By the way sorry about my spelling mistakes. I have a overly sensitive keyboard.

  • @TheQoler I found that line beautiful, it shows just how much the insomnia has affected him. And later in the film when you see the guy he beet to a pulp again, it was like only half of him was feeling guilty. The other half knew he would do it again if he had another chance. I was pretty sure I had the stomach for it, and my brother (breaking the first two rules of fight club) had said how good it was. I've never been so freaked out by a film that I have stopped watching. But i'm still looking

  • Fight club is about you.

  • @ImTylerDurden99 if you go see the movie "Warrior" you will add that one to your 10 out of 10 movies. its the absolute best movie ever because of its amazing story and incredible fight scenes. the movie has a very emotional feel to it, my girlfriend even cried at the end.

  • this movie isnt about fighting, or anarchy. its an idea of breaking away from "normal" society. lessons could be learned from the messages in this amazing film

  • @toonlinkftwlulz The message it seems is that of anarchist-communism.

  • his name was robert paulson

  • Dude in my opinion fight club is not only just a huge big quote it is the best movie ever.

  • edward norton was also good in American history X

  • mind to tell me the other movies that you gave a 10 out of 10?

  • @4PeacexDarkness schindler's list, man on fire, the green mile, gladiator, requiem for a dream, shawshank redemption to name a few.

  • @ImTylerDurden99 not sure bout Gladiator but those are great movies!

  • @ImTylerDurden99 very obvious movies

  • @musicpages123 ok, how about moon, pan's labyrinth, gandhi, american history x and source code? are those very obvious as well? I mean, the man's question is asking me to name movies that i would rate a perfect 10/10...only the best films in history are going to fall into that category, and if they're the best films in history, they're probably going to be obvious.

  • i love your name man its fucking great

  • Its a tweekr movie if you dont belive so Ill fill you in but this box is to small to point out all the tweeker fax like cookin dope, mean soap cant sleep unless you cry well last thing id ever do befor id finish my cum dow and sleep is cry, guy never sleeps so his brain goes nuts and he gets an imaginary friend, his power animal is slides down a big chunk of ice, look at the house he lives in, tweeker pad, never realy asleep but never realy awake, thats how you feel by the 4th day so on ...

  • great review, though it's not just a guy movie

  • Fight Club is one of my all time favourite movies and I'm a girl, you should really recommend it to girls as well, it's not just a guy movie

  • I am Jack's total agreement.

  • I subscribed just because of this review!!!

  • Watching Fight Club changed my life.

    Seriously.

  • same dude its 1 of thm films tht jus actualy gets to u and jus finishes the lil bits of the way u look at things if ya get me

  • @MegaPhoenixBird omg, i felt the same!!!

  • @MegaPhoenixBird Sweet. Join the club.

  • A very well-edited review here with great music and well thought out dialogue. A+! Say, can you actually upload Fight Club so others can see it? I mean, since you did the review it would be cool if we could watch the actual film here, too, then leave a better educated opinion in the comments.:-)

  • if only i could

  • @808Lana you cant upload movies onto youtube..... well you can but it will get taken down and you could face hard legal suits.

  • This movie is in one of my favorites of all time

  • but he isnt named in the movie either he uses i am jacks... but his name isnt jack he remains unamed-The Narrator

  • Something tells me you didn't read the book. It's not a "near perfect" transition at all, a lot of shit was changed from Palahniuk's book, which is actually one of the more boring of his books.

Also, it's still kind of lame to see some kid who has the surname of Tyler Durden doing video game reviews and giving you a tour of his room, full of expensive game consoles, sound systems and television sets. Take from that what you will.

  • i've read the book twice and done a couple college level essays on it. just because tyler durden preaches about consumerism and materialism doesn't mean i can't review games from my 360 and ps3. i understand what you're trying to say, and it's a legitimate argument that people have used before, but im just a fan of the novel, i dont use it as my bible. and im 21, not necessarily a kid.

  • @WayToTheGrave Hey, the film is about A philosophy. You don't have to follow it, just because you like the movie.

  • You hardly see any reviews of Fight Club on youtube....its my personal favorite and will be doing a review as soon as possible. Keep the good reviews coming

  • give me a heads up when you post that review. ill check it out

  • no problem...im waiting until i can get a decent camera to do that one. I did Apocalpyse Now last night thought =]

  • My favourite film of all times 10/10 is the only rating I would've accepted.

Only Michael Moore, can come near the satire levels of this movie.

    Thank you.

  • Correct, the narrator name is never said.

  • i could never figure out the narrators name til i read the book, then it came to me his name is jack. lol

  • actually i hate to say this but you're wrong. the narrator is in fact never named, and thus he is anonymous. pahlaniuk did this for a specific reason, he wanted you to feel as if you were the narrator, and so he didn't name him. the reason many people refer to him as jack is because when he is reading a book the author states, "I am Jack's..." and then he lists things like jack's anger. the narrator then reuses that quote from the book he read to fit himself, but it's not actually his name.

  • i also watched an interview where palahniuk refers to the narrator as jack.

  • calling him jack just makes life easier rather than saying "the narrator" or "the anonymous dude who talks the whole time" or "the main character" if you feel me

  • im just going by what palahniuk said. lol

  • uhhh... you sure you read the book? cuz he's referred to as "joe" in the book. jack's the movie.

  • i don't know if you're referring to me, but im positive i've read the book, several times actually. i've seen the movie much more though, so if i did say he was called jack in the book then it was simply a typo.

  • I'm a woman and this is my favorite movie....ha ha.

I didn't watch it for the men or anything like that,

I love the idea, the violence, and the book.

  • excellent review sir.

  • gracias. and nice username by the way

  • thanks

  • great review man, I loved the movie

  • Why males? Every girl I've ever met LOVES this movie.

  • the novel, and respectively the film, were created as a satire specifically geared toward males, hence why there is only one female in the entire cast, and "she ruined everything." palahniuk makes it very clear that "we are a generation raised by single mothers," and constantly reminds his readers that he is speaking to males. any analysis or review will also acknowledge this, but women love it merely because brad pitt is hot, enough said.

  • Yeah. I knew most of what you said. Just never REALLY knew that the movie and novel were specifically geared towards men. But its really funny your outlook on it. haha. I like it personally. But Brad Pitt? I find most of them wanna fuck Ed Norton more.

Have you read any more Palahnuik? Survivor? Haunted? Lullaby? Choke? All A class reading material.

  • ive read survivor and im about to read snuff. ive actually written a couple formal college level essays on fight club. one was a research paper on how satire is implemented into the novel and the other was a compare and contrast essay between fight club and white noise. on top of that ive read the book twice and seen the movie easily around 10 times, so i consider myself basically a fight club analyst. and ed norton? really?! ive never heard a girl call him attractive.

  • Survivor was probably my favorite of the Palahnuik novels. Haunted was a great lite read. And most proclaim Choke to be the best but I found it lacking compared to Fight Club and Survivor, other than being completely fucked up.

And maybe I just hang out with weird girls. I mean after all, these are my ex-girlfriends I speak of.

  • i watched the movie of choke and wasn't feeling it at all. just by the summaries and reviews i didn't seem interested much in the book.

  • i think they like Norton because he was ripped in American History X

  • Very good review Tyler.

  • This is my favorite one yet Chad, and easily one of my favorite movies

  • Great review of fight club man! One of the best movies ever!!!

  • best movie ever....EVER!!

    great review.

  • One of the Greatest films I have ever laid eyes upon. I have seened it many, many times. Love it purely amazing.

    Great review keep it up.

  • absolutely a 10 out of 10! good review my friend!

    brad pitt, fight club

    . . . that's all I'm saying

  • nice review, i still have to get around to seeing that.

  • I finally got the chance to see it 2 months ago. Pretty enjoyable film

  • you've got to watch it twice my man

  • Haven't seen it on TV since then.

I would buy it, but funds are low at the moment.

  • it's been a while! but this is one of your best

  • yeah i know, im a little over a week late on my promise date for this bad boy, but i was waiting to get my splitter cables to make things easier

  • Probably my favourite movie, besides the LOTR Trilogy. Great review dude, + rep. 5/5
