Profitt's lawyer tried to get the charges dropped saying that Profitt had a right to defend Rand Paul, but the judge set a trial date instead. You were wrong about self-defense or defense of a third party in this case.

The Civil Rights act says nothing like that. What you are thinking of is affirmative action, which is not a federal government-mandated policy. It is state by state. Some states have it, some dont.
Rand Paul wants to let employers discriminate based on race, and wants to allow segregated schools again, because he thinks not doing so violates freedom of speech or some other twisted logic like that.
