nope, there are lots of draglines operating in the world in fact bucyrus has the biggest operating dragline in the world, weighing in over 16 million pounds. helped build some of a new one in canada well have the worlds longest dragline mast, almost 440ft.
we don't have any bucket wheels operating in the mine any more it's all truck and shovel now and the dragline that they were disassembling is now gone
the last dragline is being taken apart and sent to australlia and put to use , yes they stopped using them since electric and hydraulic shovels are more productive in there eyes
i was told that they where too inefficient because they have to sweep a whole area and cannot be selective of what they dig. I thought they switched over to power shovels.

I pass that place everytime I head in to the horizon site near Ft McKay never had the time to stop plus not easy to park a big rig there
