It's both... Conti's guitars are not big jazz-boxes. And the neck of the typical 8 string guitar is no bigger than the neck on a classical guitar... which many tiny girls handle with ease.
you know what's the difference between Jazz players and normal players? no mean to offense but they NEVER USED tabs to get a song, they used they'r ears. try using yours and if you don't get it, nevermind, try making your own jazz song, it's not that hard, it's on the feeling you give to it
robert is a top shelf bop player. as far as the multi string thing, people in jazz use many different configurations, not always about bass lines...check out phil de gruy and michael coppola
Why do they expand the guitar to the lower notes and not to the higher - or maybe both at least? If there is a bass player you don't need the lower strings, but i ever thought the guitar limitated on higher range.
i'd be willing to guess that he has one lower string and 1 higher string. If he was playing heavy metal I'd agree with you, but the players of jazz don't need the low F# the way metal musicians do, and in his case it would likely be a better bet to use a low B and a high A
That guitar is so clearly a customized Hofner Jazzica. Not sure where the Bill Baker part comes in unless he's the one who customized the Hofner, but I doubt it.
It might have taken some styling cues from a Jazzica, but it is NOT a customized Hofner. On a Jazzica, only the top is solid wood. Conti's guitars are ALL SOLID WOOD.
I am a bass player turned guitar player I really like the 8 string guitar it beefs the sound. I really would like his info on the transition to the 8 string from the traditional 6 string. WIth the numerous strings one could choose bigger voicings. His technique is amazing. If you don't master his lessons you are not taking music serious as you can
Shred metal, firstly, is a genre greatly appreciated by many people. Second, it actually was my first foray into technical proficiency, so I mean, it DOES serve its purpose, you know?
That said, this is definitely more aesthetically pleasing than Cacophony ever could be.
hmm i agree and disagree to that. guthrie govan kinda shreds but the kind of stuff that he plays is nothing kiddy and no less musical than any other fusion jazz guitar masters. i agree tho that most of the shred stuff out there is up and down scales finger exercise crap thing, and i don't like that kind.
I have that drum kit, and I absolutely love it...the Gretsch Catalina club 4-piece: great jazzy sound, affordable, and very travel friendly. About Robert....wow. He plays this so effortlessly, and you can tell he's having a really great time too! Beautiful 8-string, as well. Thank you!!
I need to look into gifting myself some lesson time with you in Las Vegas next year. I perceive that you might have a lot of patience with "horrible technique" man ;) Thank you for the inspiration, sir.
You are one super guitarist. I wish there is a better word than "super." I will use it to describe our ability to play. Your progression is very neat. Keep playing. And keep teaching the young, aspiring guitarists.
would bob make a Dvd showing stuff like this?? it's is good stuff!!!
