  • would bob make a Dvd showing stuff like this?? it's is good stuff!!!

  • Beautifull, I hope I will play like this some day. Got something to dream about now

  • Wow! I love this.

  • Muy bueno Sr robert Conti usted pone alma , gusto ,swing lo demas viene solo.

FELICITACIONES ! YO TAMBIEN TENGO SANGRE ITALIANA, QUIZAS ALGUNA VEZ PODREMOS COMPARTIR UNA JAM SESSION (PERO CON SANGRE iTALIANA)..

  • Sem comentário,o cara é fera!!!

  • Are you tuned up F#BEADGBE?

  • @charlesneedham

Charles, Yes, that is Robert's tuning on the Eight String.

    Ben, Web Admin

  • Hey Robert, let's start a band!

  • Look at that bassist, he's frikkin pissed off!

  • Mr. Conti what is the significant ability that the eight strings provide for you rather than a six string

  • Amazing! :) After watching your videos today I'm quite sure I'm going to study with you some time in the future!

  • anyone know the tuning?

  • man, you are an octopus

  • i know nothing about 8 strings, but this was pretty cool

  • Love it when you punch the bass! More perfection - how DO you do it??

  • This guy is fricken genius.

  • does this ditty have a title as in, whats the name of this song. I like those bass lines, I think I can pick it too...I wanna.....

  • its called the more i see you

  • dang thats a big guy or a small guitar. He makes that wide neck look small and easily manageable

  • It's both... Conti's guitars are not big jazz-boxes. And the neck of the typical 8 string guitar is no bigger than the neck on a classical guitar... which many tiny girls handle with ease.

  • depends, from what i have heard they are abit bigger than standard classicals

  • Nice playing, dig the solo once the band kicks in.

  • Any chance of tabs to this piece please anyone

  • you know what's the difference between Jazz players and normal players? no mean to offense but they NEVER USED tabs to get a song, they used they'r ears. try using yours and if you don't get it, nevermind, try making your own jazz song, it's not that hard, it's on the feeling you give to it

  • @moonbeast13 im pretty sure they used standard notation... but they do use their ears probably half the time. and soloing is definately all ear

  • robert is a top shelf bop player. as far as the multi string thing, people in jazz use many different configurations, not always about bass lines...check out phil de gruy and michael coppola

  • unbelieveble :) it's really top.. thanks robert...

  • What a great sound !

  • tuning for an 8 string is F# B E A D G B E.....his guitar is a Barker, custom made by Bill Baker

  • Why do they expand the guitar to the lower notes and not to the higher - or maybe both at least? If there is a bass player you don't need the lower strings, but i ever thought the guitar limitated on higher range.

  • 'normal' ones have 2 more low strings, a B and a G. but a few have une low and one high. i like 8 strings a lot.

    peace

  • i'd be willing to guess that he has one lower string and 1 higher string. If he was playing heavy metal I'd agree with you, but the players of jazz don't need the low F# the way metal musicians do, and in his case it would likely be a better bet to use a low B and a high A

  • That guitar is so clearly a customized Hofner Jazzica. Not sure where the Bill Baker part comes in unless he's the one who customized the Hofner, but I doubt it.

  • It might have taken some styling cues from a Jazzica, but it is NOT a customized Hofner. On a Jazzica, only the top is solid wood. Conti's guitars are ALL SOLID WOOD.

  • I am a bass player turned guitar player I really like the 8 string guitar it beefs the sound. I really would like his info on the transition to the 8 string from the traditional 6 string. WIth the numerous strings one could choose bigger voicings. His technique is amazing. If you don't master his lessons you are not taking music serious as you can

  • Now this, little shred-kiddies, is music!

  • Hey now!

Shred metal, firstly, is a genre greatly appreciated by many people. Second, it actually was my first foray into technical proficiency, so I mean, it DOES serve its purpose, you know?

That said, this is definitely more aesthetically pleasing than Cacophony ever could be.

  • hmm i agree and disagree to that. guthrie govan kinda shreds but the kind of stuff that he plays is nothing kiddy and no less musical than any other fusion jazz guitar masters. i agree tho that most of the shred stuff out there is up and down scales finger exercise crap thing, and i don't like that kind.

  • Awesome Just discovered a genious of jazz guitar

  • Is that a Hofner?...beautiful lines. My God he is a bad ass.

  • The line at 1:53 to 1:56 is genius. The 8 string playing is very musical as well.

  • ppl like these are real musicians for me . 5/5

  • holy shit this guy is throwing it down!!!

  • that's great-i suppose i have to buy an 8 string now

  • damn boy ....

  • You can send all the other musos home...this guys a one man band...AWSOME!

  • Conti brilliant as always the rest of the musicians are third rate - hopeless compared to him

  • how is his guitar tuned is it B E A D G B E A?????

  • F# B E A D G B E

    Low to high

  • F# B E A D G B E - low to high. the F# is one tone above the bass E string!

  • it might be B E A D G B E A

  • I have that drum kit, and I absolutely love it...the Gretsch Catalina club 4-piece: great jazzy sound, affordable, and very travel friendly. About Robert....wow. He plays this so effortlessly, and you can tell he's having a really great time too! Beautiful 8-string, as well. Thank you!!

  • what a tasteful player!

  • true legend.

  • Thanks Robert great playing...

  • That was absolutely awesome!

  • What's the guy behind you doing? Its kinda annoying. Good clip tho..

  • He's the bubblegumist, an integral part of every jazz group that respects itself.

He provides the rhythm with his chews.

  • Your playing is very great !

    Bravo !

  • I keep coming back to this :) when you have a bad day, just watch this video. Beautiful, sir.

  • I need to look into gifting myself some lesson time with you in Las Vegas next year. I perceive that you might have a lot of patience with "horrible technique" man ;) Thank you for the inspiration, sir.

  • World gets smaller with youtube. Thanks God - otherwise i would have never discovered your tracks, Mr. Conti.

Cheers from Central Eastern Europe. :)

  • Really beautiful and inspiring.

  • You are one super guitarist. I wish there is a better word than "super." I will use it to describe our ability to play. Your progression is very neat. Keep playing. And keep teaching the young, aspiring guitarists.

  • is that 8 strings

  • Yes, it sounds like it actually let's a guitarist play the bass line as well. Amazing (to me anyway).

  • Very inspiring ! and so peacefull.. when i saw one of your others video it kind of gave me an inspiration to start playing jazz

  • awesome... I discovered you thanks to Youtube... Looking forward to studying with you at some point...

  • Thanks, would love to hear from you sometime along the way!

  • Wonderfull!

  • Thank you so much

  • What gauge string do you use for the sixth string?

  • he has a 8 strings
