Awesome truck and I am amazed at what these diesels can do. Just watched one run 9's!!!! Still, the 'Vette driver in this video was TERRIBLE! (Leggio is right about ET's. Does not matter when they left the line,,,,the ET is the ET. Still, the 'Vette should have run much faster.)
I like both vehicles buts its funny reading the comments with people fighting each other lol. Look at the drag times. There's family cars being made that are faster then those two in the 1/4 mile in this vid haha. Bunch of morons lol
Funny how people get so mad when a diesel beats a sportscar. Well news for you undereducated people, it doesn't surprise the diesel fans one bit. Why? Torque, raw power. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a corvette, but I'd love that Cummins even more. It's common, people think, "What an idiot, this guy thinks he can beat my Corvette in his big, slow truck." They get beat, people get all defensive trying to say the Corvette driver was bad. That's not the case, the diesel simply had more power.
i agree the driver of the vette had it half throttle there is no way the truck could take the vette of the line let alone the race hell my 2005 kia spectra will take that truck of the line know for a fact cause i have done it, i lose the race but i take it off the line. oh and d250 big deal nothing special the corvette is one of the most respected super cars right now google it beat porche lambo
those corvettes are much faster than that. any moron can run one in the low 13s completely stock ls1 corvette. i wouldn't go bragging about beating one, everyone will think you're a moron
@bassme11 well you stupid dumb ass if you tune a diesels right and have the right chips on it and all that good stuff then you can race it and whoop anyones ass! believe me my brother owns one that can my dad owns one that can and so does the rest of my family.... get your shit stright you dumb shit!
and add in that the guy in the vett bogged really bad lol one remark to absentheartandmind altitude doesent matter in a forced induction system at all does it i mean its always gonna be positive preassure no matter how high above sea level isant it unless the odvious so high cant breath anyway right
The below statement is for all who comment and still don't understand how the timing system works.
It does not matter when the Vette or I left the line. In this instance, what matters is the ET. If I had left 2 seconds after the Vette my ET still would have been 13.83 and his still would had been 14.76.........The reaction time would be terrible but, the time does not start until the vehicle trips the lights.
14 seconds in that vette, gotta be somthing wrong, my 2000 trans am ws6 with a few bolt ons is running low 13's with no traction, could probably get a high 12 with traction and it has the same motor as the vette... somthings wrong....
no way in hell (in hell!) that that 12v would beat that vette with a good driver the driver of the vette was a pussy and half throttled...and im a diesel guy sorry bro with the d250 but its true...
@lleggio65 he has no idea about diesel performance clearly actually, that truck could easily be pumping out 600+hp and torque is easily double that, pair in a 4 wheel drive launch possibly and and upgraded/purpose built tranny and ya this truck runs circles around a vette in a short 1/4mile distance
At 7000ft the air pressure is 11.3 psia (lbs per in squared absolute) at sea level it is 14.7
That means the Corvette has (11.3/14.7) ~ 75% of its rated horsepower (rated is at sea level)
The Cummins has a turbo running somewhere around 30 psi of boost. So you take the sea level pressure and at altitude pressure and add the boost to them and you get ((11.3+30)/(14.7+30) and the dodge has ~92% its sea level horsepower, which at that boost 2x rated power.
@kennyp521 ummm your fucking stupid.... a diesel can whoop any cars ass aslong as its tuned up right! you fucking dumb shit.... and you call your self a diesel guy.... HA!
@kennyp521 W250'S rock, and vettes are for old men and fish heads, the old guy driving the vette didn't have a chance and he is lucky it was not a 24 vavle cause that would have been ugly!!!!!! diesel forever
hey, I`m impressed. But...I`m from germany and I was wondering what cummins is. I`ve never heard that. Could someone please gimme some information. Thanks a lot
@Biebersdorfer my friend, just surf through youtube long enough and youll see all the morons saying cummins is better than this, powerstroke is better than that, and duramax ftw lol. youll soon develope an opinion of your own, or just be surprised how many idiots ther are on here :p but cummins is an izuzu owned engine, not saying its bad of course, its actually one of the most reliable diesel engines ever built. and are known for making some serious power, like the one in this vid lol
d@Biebersdorfer Hello there in Germany. Cummins is a company that has been building Diesel engines in this country for years. Chrysler started putting the Cummins Turbo Diesel in their trucks in 1987. I read (when Daimler owned Chrysler) they were toying with the idea of putting a Mercedes Benz Turbo Diesel in the Dodge Ram pickup. What a shame they didn't do it! That would have destroyed Chevy and Ford trucks!!!!! I love Dodge Ram pick-ups and Mercedes Benz. What a combination that would be!!!!
If you run a 14.7 in a Corvette made in the last 20 years, you either started in 5th gear, or you confused the gas pedal with the brake pedal several times.
The guy in the 'vette doesn't know how to drive. Nice Power Wagon.........but, at almost 14 seconds, it should NEVER beat that car. I'm not busting on the Dodge. I love diesel trucks. I'm merely stating that the 'vette should have EASILY won that race.
Getting off topic but.................Why compare a 2010 425 hp vette to a 2001 350 hp vette?
None of those times are achieved running at 7,000+ ft density altitude and not everyone can jump in a vette and run those times.
In fact, those times are done with near perfect atmospheric conditions, sometimes with density altitudes of 500-1000 feet BELOW sea level and many, many runs down the strip. If read from a magazine, they are usually corrected for sea level.
@lleggio65 "every racer" bahahaha right bud... i work in a performance diesel shop we dont even consider calibrating that into a tune because its never absolute. for instance the air temp and humidity change from day to day thus changing the DENSITY of the air no matter what ALTITUDE you are at, your car with all of its electronics will change this to compensate for fule to air mixture any way so what are you getting at? wo said this track is 7000 feet up?
The track, Bandimere Speedway is at 5900' feet. When we ran this night it was about 72* IIRC.
Yes, cars and trucks with capable electronics will compensate the fuel to air mixture correctly but, when the density altitude is less than perfect or "absolute " as you stated, the only calibrating the electronics can do is give less fuel which equates to less power. The electronics, without help of forced induction or nitrous, can't add air.
What I meant by "every racer" is simply this; if you don't know or understand density altitude and the role it plays on performance, you are not a drag racer. Maybe a keyboard racer but, not a drag racer.
And to add from earlier; if your driving at or near sea level with a air temp of 30-40*, you can acheive better than "abosolute" conditions which would give an electronic capable vehicle the ability to add more fuel resulting in better than factory rated horsepower.
@lleggio65 hes refering to the new dodges and how they have bad ball joints, most likely unaware that your year of dodge has a straight axle and not the retarded independent front end
@lleggio65 Hmmm... a Cummins not anytime soon. Although I might start playing around with a 93 F250 Turbo 7.3 IDI. I know it's not a Powerstroke, but at least it doesn't have any electronics! Enough of that crap.
@GarnerlovesCarrie Yes. Dynomite Diesel Performance 69 lpm 5 hole injectors. S300 series turbo 62/71/.80 Joe Hellmann custom intercooler. Icebox air intake. South Bend Clutch single disk. Stock front Dana 60. 3.54 ratio Stock rear Dana 80 from a 2002 (disks). Stock Getrag tranny. Launch @ 3000 rpm.
Nice truck, If you need a bulletproof maddogtransmission let me know. I will also stand behind it with a one-year unlimited mile warranty. Thanks MaddogLou.
o wow that was fair, why dont we all buy 1st gen cummins and not waste 52,000 on a vette, i mean im 13 but still, with a truck like that, u have the speed and the pickup, and where i live, most people would rather have a smoker
Here is my math-You build it your way to beat the next guy and you are always making adjustments. Either way you look at it, its how you build the vehicle and also how you drive it and keep the power up.
Say what you will about it but that is just my own reason and how i have always seen it happening and how i will do it as well.
@RovingLandRover that was the dumbest fucking thing I've read in awhile. The point is that an ol pickup truck killed a vette. VETTES come from the factory made for SPEED!!! a 1992 pickup truck DOES NOT.. and land rovers are money soaking piles of shit.
Doesn't matter as much horsepower as torque. the camaro beet the shelbi and the challengert because it had more torque and its torque didnt drop off like the other cars. You can have all the horse power in the world. But without torque your not going anywhere fast.
this is why only old ass grandpas own corvettes and people that have a brain in their head buy a turbo diesel. vettes are fuckin turds and a huge waste of money for what you could get for that amount
slow vette a normal c5 non z06 should do like high 13 so high 14 probally not as good of a driver 2nd its a soft top which adds weight 3rd it seemed to me that he spun alittle at the start
every keeps saying that its fake or the vette diodnt try but i would just say there is different reasons for it not to do so good
That is friggin' impressive for a longbed extended cab fullsize pickup. Out of curiosity, is that the same 12-valve Cummins they came with from the factory?
The only thing that could have made this vid sweeter is a back story that goes alittle something like this:
Vette Owner: "I have fastest car here no one can hang with me..blah blah blah"
(we have all heard shit talkers at some point in our lives you get the point)
Dodge Owner: "Tell ya what I'll leave my car on the trailer and beat your ass with the truck I pulled it here with.... how about it put your money where your mouth is???"
No need to get all technical... The Vette got its ass kicked fair and square, and then the pickup truck went to the home depot, loaded up the back up with shit and didnt feel bad about it
specter your a fucking joke. ill put any cummins against your piece of shit sports car any day . while the sports car is trying to catch 6grand the cummins is rollin coal. and he can do that all day long and that 5.9 wont even hiccup . while your sports car is spewing oil all over itself
Awesome truck and I am amazed at what these diesels can do. Just watched one run 9's!!!! Still, the 'Vette driver in this video was TERRIBLE! (Leggio is right about ET's. Does not matter when they left the line,,,,the ET is the ET. Still, the 'Vette should have run much faster.)

diesels are underrated in the race world, fuck a sports car!!!

When are you going to switch to a Powerstroke and finally ditch that 1st Gen?
Bullitt406 1 year ago
@Bullitt406
HA HA HA!
How have you been?
Have not heard from you in a while.
I think what your asking is, when can I buy your 1st gen! LOL
lleggio65 1 year ago
@lleggio65 Hmmm... a Cummins not anytime soon. Although I might start playing around with a 93 F250 Turbo 7.3 IDI. I know it's not a Powerstroke, but at least it doesn't have any electronics! Enough of that crap.
Are you still at Crow Creek?
Bullitt406 1 year ago

Quit back in May.
Wher you?

Gallegos Sanitation, Fabrication Supervisor. Where are you working now?
Bullitt406 1 year ago
1st gen cummins straight 6 is WAY more reliable and can handle so much more horsepower or torque than any powerstroke even a 7.3 -------6 all day

@Bullitt406 Powerstroke is garbage fag bait

dont foreget the importance of gear ratio. the truck is geared lower
neelonghunglow 1 year ago
o wow that was fair, why dont we all buy 1st gen cummins and not waste 52,000 on a vette, i mean im 13 but still, with a truck like that, u have the speed and the pickup, and where i live, most people would rather have a smoker
iluvjsimpson10 1 year ago
Here is my math-You build it your way to beat the next guy and you are always making adjustments. Either way you look at it, its how you build the vehicle and also how you drive it and keep the power up.
Say what you will about it but that is just my own reason and how i have always seen it happening and how i will do it as well.
nicholassmth1 1 year ago

it sounds like youre just jealous because I can get an extra 300 rear wheel HP in 5 minutes ;)
EasternAggie 1 year ago
@RovingLandRover that was the dumbest fucking thing I've read in awhile. The point is that an ol pickup truck killed a vette. VETTES come from the factory made for SPEED!!! a 1992 pickup truck DOES NOT.. and land rovers are money soaking piles of shit.
sincityskywalker 1 year ago
@RovingLandRover hey if anything thing can go we WILL race it at 1 time or another its that simple
JohnDeereBoy06 1 year ago
Doesn't matter as much horsepower as torque. the camaro beet the shelbi and the challengert because it had more torque and its torque didnt drop off like the other cars. You can have all the horse power in the world. But without torque your not going anywhere fast.
burnbabey12 1 year ago
I am not a big fan of cummins they are ok I like powerstroke but that dodge was hauling ass! Lol
DucksUnlimited9437 1 year ago
this is why only old ass grandpas own corvettes and people that have a brain in their head buy a turbo diesel. vettes are fuckin turds and a huge waste of money for what you could get for that amount

theoutlawoutcast 1 year ago
nice truck
slow vette a normal c5 non z06 should do like high 13 so high 14 probally not as good of a driver 2nd its a soft top which adds weight 3rd it seemed to me that he spun alittle at the start
every keeps saying that its fake or the vette diodnt try but i would just say there is different reasons for it not to do so good

That is friggin' impressive for a longbed extended cab fullsize pickup. Out of curiosity, is that the same 12-valve Cummins they came with from the factory?

thats a bad driver in the vette 14.76 quarter????????? but still that truck is a beast

The only thing that could have made this vid sweeter is a back story that goes alittle something like this:
Vette Owner: "I have fastest car here no one can hang with me..blah blah blah"
(we have all heard shit talkers at some point in our lives you get the point)
Dodge Owner: "Tell ya what I'll leave my car on the trailer and beat your ass with the truck I pulled it here with.... how about it put your money where your mouth is???"
anyway awesome vid thanks for posting :)

No need to get all technical... The Vette got its ass kicked fair and square, and then the pickup truck went to the home depot, loaded up the back up with shit and didnt feel bad about it

That was impressive.

specter your a fucking joke. ill put any cummins against your piece of shit sports car any day . while the sports car is trying to catch 6grand the cummins is rollin coal. and he can do that all day long and that 5.9 wont even hiccup . while your sports car is spewing oil all over itself
