  • Why in the world would anyone admire Hadrian? The man was a jealous tyrant. He engineered the world's first holocaust.

  • Gilgamesh too

  • Soul suturing. This is amazing work - just goes to show how much the same the heart of man is now as then.

    Peace.

  • did they had sex like modern gay , i mean a trash one like fisting ...lol, or just kissing ... getting fucked gentlly?

  • @TheMarylinmonroe77 Nothing is new in the world of passion, sex and war - only the people change.

  • Most human beings today do not have the beautiful ideal of spiritual love that this Emperor and his Antinous had. The heterosexual and homosexual worlds are both so devoid of any sense of devotion and faithfulness that this poem is an Eden of verdant, eternal blossoms springing in the horrifying desert of "love" that is not love today.

  • This love of the Great Emperor Hadrian and his devoted Antinous is, in my belief, a missing of the mark, and yet, here, I think the walls of the law do not reach so far as Heaven. May God give rest to their souls, and may they be together forever in the Paradise of Love.

  • Sir, do you have published books of poetry? You are a master.

  • Exquisite poetry; I am an Eastern Orthodox Christian and yet...exquisite poetry.

  • Antinous wasn't a page after he became Hadrian's favourite or was he?

  • Thank you Charles, for giving voice to such a strong, passionate love. I have just seen a beautiful Antinous's sculpture, thought of him, and his marvellous figure. Pleased to find this on Youtube. Thank you again!

  • Thanks for that kind comment. Charles

  • haha, well it's not everybody's fate to be smitten! thank you!

  • Charles,

Wow, I admit I found your poem by looking up the words "gay sex," hoping I would find some video with guys talking about sex and giving advice. But being a lover of poetry and a writer myself who has written poetry and many song lyrics, I am so happy I found your piece.

I just dealt with an unfortunate breakup with a guy who I may go back to being friends with, since that worked best for us. I know he'll like your work, and maybe it will encourage his poetry.

  • Thanks for your encouragement Ryan and I hope it works out with you and your friend. Always gald to hear from fellow poets ;) Charles

  • Ah Charles, you bless my heart with your reading of Antinous' holy poems :). It's an honour for you to keep alive our Lord's writings. Ave vive Antinoi.

  • Thank you so much. I presume you must belong to the Ecclesia Antinoi? Charles

  • Yes, I am Ecclesia Antinoi :). Thanks for asking.

  • thank you...i have just discovered your site...your voice, your beautiful voice drew me into the poem...i was there as an unashamed admirer of the events unfolding....thank you ....i will be back

  • Thank you - you make me blush!

  • It may as well have been Hadrian himself speaking. Your language is so lush.

  • Yes that was the impression I wanted D. Thank you.
