thank you for posting this song, as well as posting the history of the type of music it was for its' time. This is a very beloved song to me and my family (and I'm only 45 years old!). I remember listening to this on the 45rpm record on RCA at my grandmothers house. She loved this song, and because she loved it, I loved it. Grandma has been gone for 15 years now, and still, to this day, I feel her love when I hear this song. Thank you.
This song has took me back to when I was a little girl. My mother used to love to listen to Dolly and Loretta and Tammy. This was one of the songs that I remember her listening to and we used to just cry. Now I cry cuz it is a sad song but also because my Mother has been dead for 33 yrs now and each time I hear some of these songs it makes me feel so close to her. I was 16 when she died and anything to just get to feel her presents. We also loved the song (Chas) by Dolly.. :)

When I was a young girl I always listened to this song and thought about becoming a funeral director/embalmer......and I did. thanks for setting my career!
@papaquad oh....wow.....that's a different spin! I never thought of it that way...but....well.....I like this song for different reasons.......um.....what does one say to THAT, Porter Wagoner? HUH? Where are YOU now? Got any sequins on your jacket NOW? ...um......congratulations for getting inspiration from a song for your career! I DO believe music is inspiring.....but...all due respect...WOW! (I'm speechless, but happy for you! WOW!!..um..er....WOW.....
This song came out right when my sister passed away, before I was born. My mom still can't listen to this song, it breaks her heart. My name is Jeannie btw.
this reminds me of my little next door neighbour who sadly died aged 8 years old, i used 2 babysit her and she always had 2 sleep with light on r.i.p pet love you, not a dy passes when dont think of you xxx
This song reminds me of my youngest daughter WEMA NACHELA who is only turned three years 0n 07/06/2009 and the mother passed away on 09/06/2009 bits quite painful

@acidrain20072002, My father said to me many times he dreaded being put into a casket. I asked him why and he said ït will be awfully crowded in there!""
I might have cried, if I didn't mess my head up listening to, Me and Little Andy.
One time I smiled while listening to that one song, and now, I don't cry as easy. Never do what I did, it messes up your head. Kind of creeps me out, that I don't cry to songs like this any more.
i love doly parton even trhough im 12 years old lol i just think she is so giving she made me look up to her and now im happier in my life because of her songs -this one is so sad :'(
This song brings so many memories for me... My mom used to have me call in a request this song all the time. Timeless! Thanks for the post, and beautiful picture.....
Bless you flashbell, this lovely songs brings me back to happy & and sad memories, as my precious dad (long gone now) & i would listen to this and songs similar.Thankyou for posting.
My grandmother had this on a 45rpm and we used to play it all the time. This song is one of the most sentimental songs in memory of my grandmother. My grandmother is no longer with us anymore, but this is a song I haven't heard in years...the memories of being at her house and playing this record will stay with me forever. Thanks for posting this song.
Love Dolly & Porter. Thank you so much for posting this song. I once bought their cassette tape with it on it, but it was defective and I had to return it. They didn't have any more. I have Daniel O'Donnell and Mary Duff's version, which is beautiful and chokes me up trying to sing to it, but this is the best.
Oh my...what memories have just come rushing back to me. A sad song, I remember my dad playing this to us as children & I remember then a tear always falling down my face just like it just has now, only now the tear has has doubled. An extra one for my Dad! Thank you for posting & allowing me to be 10years old again, cuddled beside him once more.xxx :-(
May god bless you also. With so much bad doings in life around at the moment, it is nice to know their are caring people like you still out there. May happiness always surround you.x

What kind of idiot are you?
Music means different things to different people!!! What kind of 'rap shit' do you listen to?
Don't criticize anyone for this music--at least to hell it makes some sense!!!
My baby sister that died was named 'Jeannie'---and she was always afraid of the dark!!! We never understood why!!!
I miss her sooooooooooo much, everyday!!!
