  • beautiful steering wheel, quick acceleration.

  • have you done many performance mods to this?

  • @live4muzix

The motor is pretty stock...I think. The only thing Justin added was some sort of aftermarket air filter and a no-name header. Other than that, I think the D16Y8 is pretty stock.

  • @Oishizo B16A4 %D

  • wow your civic run very nice

even back then they were still insanelly hard to beat ,try a car against similar era

not moddded and you ll be at front every time.just make sure to wach liquid level like a monk doing their prayer.yes they were prone to leak.probably doing a proper job atgasket would do the trick.dont use grease or soap .go on the sealant manufacturer for recommanded way to put in a seal.perso i would use sealant but you have to be quick

  • Cool, how much of the engine is stock vs aftermarket? I too have a 78 Civic in good shape and I've been wanting to add some power to it. Any suggestions on what to do and where to look?

  • @ThePeopleStrikeBack A common thing people do is replace the 1.2 EB Series motor of the Civic with a 1.8 EK1 from the Accord. I don't know if it's a direct bolt in but apparently it's fairly common, so I don't imagine it's very difficult. Then again if you have the cash and know-how I've seen people put b16's and B18's in them also... The EK1 doesn't have much for HP but it's got enough torque to be worth it. Check out the old-school Honda forums, you'll find a wealth of info & helpful people.

  • @nightmathzombieethan Hey thanks a lot!!

  • @ThePeopleStrikeBack :-) Anytime! Gotta keep these cool old schoolers on the road!

  • @ThePeopleStrikeBack

Sorry for the late reply, as I was telling @live4muzix, the motor is mostly stock I think except for the airfilter and header. No internal mods as far as I know.

  • VTEC just kick in, yo!

  • @DK99824 this was 14 years before vtec came around

  • @automotiveDIY That's the point of the joke.

  • @DK99824

    Justin gave it VTEC.

  • I want your steering wheel!

  • @nightmathzombieethan

Haha, 3,000 yen from Garage Off in Japan...one man's garbage is another man's treasure =)

  • @nightmathzombieethan i think you can get a grant thats nearly identical. it seems to have the same mount

  • @cumminsfan Yeah, I think they're probably smaller in diameter and thicker in....thicker in....? LOL Ummm....the grip is thicker. I hate to be fussy but I've never been a big fan of Grant wheels...nothing against them in terms of build quality or anything, just not a big fan aesthetically. Every time I see a friend with one they look weird! Then again they probably didn't get "the right one"....

  • @nightmathzombieethan heh, i dont like them much either, but i remember seeing one close. i believe your right, the rim is thicker

  • Hey folks, I asked my buddy Justin, the guy who built my car, and he says they came out of an '89 Accord. Hope that helps =)

  • @Oishizo dude, thx alot. I think my 2nd gen civic speedo's and tach can work too on my 1st gen

  • Hi FOXeye95,

Sorry, I have no idea where the speedo and tach came from....I'll ask my pal Justin and get back to you.

  • @Oishizo please cantact me too about the tach please i have a 1976 civic

  • @Oishizo

just felt like saying, the tachometer looks exactly like the tachometer on my 2000 Civic EX... maybe it came from the 6th gen Civics?

    claasic ride

  • can you tell where i can get those Speed counters and Rev meters?

  • @FOXeye95 it looks selfmade ... the speed counter is from a civic eg(92-95) and the rev counter is from a honda Accord 5 gen. CC7,CD7 (93-97) ... i think

  • Nice Pete!
