faziet2, thank you for the hope that I was wrong, but the Turaif you are talking about is what we called Turyaif Town, the local Arab town. My Turaif was an artificial town built just for the Western families who helped with the pipeline. We used to drive through Turyaif Town and saw all the kids dressed in knitted whool sweaters that looked itchy. They were great kids but we never got much of a chance to know them.
@jemoore27 Forgive me for correcting you, but the town of Turaif (in Northern KSA, close to the border with Jordan) is still in existence according to Wikipedia & Facebook. It even has a domestic airport that serves it.

I miss Arabia - my town, Turaif, doesn't even exist anymore. It was demolished after Israel invaded Lebanon in the 80's.
