  • love the video really good

  • an astroid that big destroys earth? it doesnt look like much considering.

  • I will be dead before the oil runs out and I sterilized myself so I will not breed any human spawn. Ergo I could not care less about oil. I laugh in the face of you pathetic breeders who are caught in your little biological drama. Even the sun will die someday. Stop fretting, it is just your ego crying in the dark.

  • that was a small asteroid not enough to create a fire ball around the earth!

  • In The FACE!!!!

  • my idea to survive this is to die of old age before it happens ..will that work ?

  • @MrDaleplan Most likely, the chances are in your favour.

  • How come nobody is saying anything about the 180 TRILLION BARRELS OF OIL that has been removed from underneath earth???

  • @heartlessvietboy didn't happen over night tho. maybe if you took 180 trillion barrels in 1 go then it would be different and even then it would only be land settlement and subsidence. thats only my view and no idea what would really happen.

  • @heartlessvietboy simply because this is a different topic 'astroids'.google oil removal from the earth for that.

  • Something does'nt stack up for me. If this impact was that devastating it should have done a lot of damage to the atmosphere. Scientists today will have you believe that we are killing the planet with greenhouse gases, yet if this impact is to believed, you can do unspeakable things to our atmosphere and it still bounces back good enough to support life? Like I said, something about this does'nt stack up.

  • @stzzla ya of cause the planet bounces back but it cant support life as we know it, and will take thousands/ millions of years before it can.

  • @stzzla found 'proof' of dust sediment in core ICE samples taken at poles, gives a history of atmosphere. Also in the strata of cut away chimney rock arizona, gives history for millions of years .

  • @stzzla Dude, the time scale is the difference. It's estimated to have taken 65 MILLION years for us to get where we are now from when the dinosaurs were wiped out.

65 million years for life to evolve into us. Note, we have only been here for about 50,000 to 200,000 or so years. Which, btw, is absolutely nothing compared to the age of the planet.

It's estimated to take 100s of millions of years for coal and oil to form.

  • um just blow up the meteor

  • ha! eat that you stupid flying rock! :P

  • it is unbeliveble

  • Chuck Norris didn't like the dinosaurs.

  • If evolution is true, then how can evolutionists explain compassion and love being a part of nearly everyone on the planet? Darwinism, natural selection, and evolution all work to show that the only the fit survive, but love and compassion involves putting others ahead of ourselves, going against evolution and natural selection to put ourselves first.

  • @jgalvin21 .......The point that your missing is,in the natural selection, the 'fit' were physically AND mentally FIT, also having to possess love and compassion.Apes need not apply.

  • @billy1212ist I don't think that I'm missing the point. We just don't have the same idea about love, compassion, and evolution. Evolution is about the preservation of one's genetic material, but if they can't survive, then that's it; obviously not 'fit' to live in the genepool. Love and compassion require the self sacrifices for the good of other genes, even those genes are considered lowly.

But since we won't agree on semantics, let's agree to disagree, okay? :-)

  • the scariest thing is that no one know for sure what exactly would happen when one hits. Obviously the energy must be released as heat, but how large of a scale will be devastated, or if the entire atmosphere with be superheated...so many uncertainties that can only be answered by an event actually occurring.

  • @drewsky684 the KT event was the equivalent of 100,000,000,000,000 tons of TNT exploding all at once in the same place. thats the same as 10,000,000,000 Hiroshima bombs. between the fireball, shockwave, debris, megatsunamis, and radiation, most of what is now North America and a good portion of South America were almost entirely destroyed within minutes. Acid rain, darkness, global wildfires, earthquakes, the eruption of every volcano on earth, and toxic gas took out most of what was left.

  • And what would this little project cost? About 900 trillion dollars or so?

  • we don't need that 2 destroy heart cuz we already started the destruction ourselves and nasa cant stop that

  • just watched a history channel show. New evidence which puts into doubt the single impact theory. The Single, Massive, Asteroid couldn't have defeated the dinosaurs. There were many other culprits to the crime.

  • who knows, if an asteroid destroys the human race, a more brilliant race might emerge. One that wouldn't raze the earth like we do.

  • it became mars haha

  • scary

  • google Doe's Account, its insane.

  • whatever happens ill just prepare and be ready. God only knows when is the end, not science

  • Nice scare tactics, NASA but your days are over. WE ARE BROKE

  • I like this account because a human is there to describe it accurately.

  • God is about as real as Darth Vader.

  • and Agnostics while criticized for being non committal can wake up tommorrow and if God calls us or is disproven well we never have to admit we're wrong to proceed on the correct path because we were eagerly waiting for it to be shown to us all along.

and misled no one in self serving missions "saving" people to attain points for our alleged God's favor.

Our respect for human life, like the atheist, is paramount, as the 70 or so years we have is all there is.

Love to be wrong there tho.

  • My 2 cents.

God may or may not exist. Those who insist there is no God are no more supported by scientific facts than those insisting there is. They are generally less full of poop tho their negativity can be annoying.

The organized religions invented by men to oppress and control other men convincing them their way was the best way to please him and attain an afterlife have nothing to do with the probability of his existence,

    Science is good.

Open your mind. Agnosticism kicks ass. >

  • Space 100%

    We Discovered (0.001)%

    Life Found!!!!

    On Earth Which is (0.000000000000000000001)%

    Whats Life?

    its not science, it lives.

  • Ok look people there isn't a god it's all science and yes I'm an atheist.

  • @JustinMcCard You Some Of A..... YOU NEED TO BE DEAD WHEN YOU WERE BORN!!

  • @JustinMcCard FUCK OFFFF BEFORE I FUCKED YOUR THROAT BASTARD!!!

  • @mcriot80 shut up

  • ok, have a nice life.

  • I Really don´t believe what i just read. this guy impied that THIS That is geologically proved is a lie?

Where was your god when we evolve from apes?

Oh sorry we didn´t evolve, we were all created by his glorious will...

These are facts, your god is faith. And faith is a sorry excuse for ignorance.

  • Whats the chance of that happening again? O.o...

  • Chance is about 100% - just a question of when. Could be tomorrow, could be in 50 million years. But almost certain to happen sometime.

  • True..

  • the meteor must be bigger. That's too small

  • No, it's not. If you think so, you are a scientific & mathematical illiterate.

  • as hot as a what?! it's not very good sound quality.

  • because by that time you would understand that this is where I would go to relax and watch one mass hit another mass on a scale i cannot comprehend....3D glasses would make this nice.

  • hello arttechuk do you know if there areany documentaries worth watching on this subject ( earth impacts)? that show what space programs are being developed in this field? thanks for any links to more info :)

  • hi indiasrainbow

not sure on channels to watch but bbc do a lot on science and space and nasa channel is always a good place to watch. sorry i cant help you any more than that.

  • stop war and start makin a protector from meteor...

  • wat can u say... human r greedy

  • ya thats just about 100% correct statement.

  • @timvoodoo "Life" is greedy, All life looks out for #1 all the time. So do humans, we just have more tools to display how greedy life can be.

  • @timvoodoo are u ready?? i'm ready i just have little wish i want more food to eat before it lol!!!

  • "What could we do if an asteroid comes?" Evacuate Earth.

  • the asteroid didnt kill the dinosaurs the climate change and gasses killed them.

  • how the fuck do you know?

  • i wonder how animals lived after the dinosaurs?

  • probably much better since they where not getting eaten

  • the person who designed that spacecraft MUST feel happy. because he just saved are species...

  • I hate it when the animations of meteorite impacts are completely unrealistic. The shock waves move much too fast and so does the debris. Many times they will also show the impactor glowing when its still well outside of the atmosphere.

  • yes i know

i bet unlike you they dont have a Phd in astrophysics.

  • I dont but i do know that the speed of the asteroid and especially the debris is just ridiculous. If its for a documentary i just dont see how it can be so difficult to get the physics right. A documentary is for education.

  • Oh snap! XD *high five*

  • agreed, it took hours, and days till that happened...

  • Because if they were to show the asteroid hitting the earth at 60 times the speed of a bullet. There wouldn't be much to look at, save maybe a flash of light and impact ejecta.

  • Not exactly because a bullet travels i think less then a km a sec so a 10 km wide object seen from space wouldnt just be a flash but it would be several seconds in the atmosphere before touching down. It would just move around 2 times its own length a second.

  • wouldnt it be cool if we can juss colognize on one of those things and juss float around meeting new life and new civilations and to boadly go where no one had gone before?

  • what would happen if the meteor wouldve hit the wateR? other than a humongous tsunami... would it have whiped out the dinosaurs?

  • very good comment mate dunno the answer tho sorry .

  • The tsunami would equal or exceed the depth of the water at the point of impact. It would probably be able ot overtop a lot of mountain chains, probably not the highest ones. The meteor did hit in water that was at least a thousand feet deep, and it was debris carried with this onto the main land that led scientists to understand that it had impacted in chicxulub.

  • The air blast overpressure wiped everything out within thousands of miles. At least 100,000 cubic miles of rock was vaporized or thrown into the atmosphere, blocking out the sun for decades.

  • @halo3lite do you mean what would happen if the meteor hit water? cause it did and the energy was enough to melt the rock under it and send it into the atmosphere. also it set fire to some of the air catching trees and so on

  • @halo3lite Yes.it wouldnt have mattered where it would have hit,the meteor hitting the atmosphere would have instantly burned anything below it,also,it would have just gone straight to the bottom of the ocean,im sure.

  • shit... we arnt about to survive that its almost impossible

  • Interesting idea about gravitationally 'nudging' an asteroid off course from certain impact with earth - only problem is that there is still the matter of creating a new trajectory with not only earth but other asteroids, increasing the likelihood of collision courses with more big rocks, for us earthlings to worry about.........hmmmmmmmmmmm.

  • there were still people in the beginning , not just dinosaurs

  • Check your sources, man. 65 million years ago humans DID NOT exist. If we would have been around for over 65 million years we would be so far fucking advanced that every alien species in any video game would look like the decayed shit of an animal that ate a caveman's shit.

  • what you dumy christians didn't start this doom dayers did

  • What are you talking about ffs is this related to Christianity? is this related to Islam? piss off you twat.

  • this children is what u call a douche bag ok kids? any questions?

  • The video is a little off. What we call modern day birds, already existed at the time of the Cretaceous. They were the only "dinosaurs" to have survived the impact event, but they were already what we consider to be birds. More species evolved afterwards of course.

  • Every fuckin video I see someone got to comment about AsTrOiD hitting in 2012! Well fuck you all who say that because this was 65 million years ago. It's not the end of earth, end of species retards!

  • whoever is talking about planet X likes excitment.2029 is real then we will find out asteroid path how close it will pass or hit.Ground zero S.Russia.Europe in dust and Debris. America tsunamis from Island Palma in Eastern shore 30 miles.and Western shore eathquake 3 miles Oregon Fault. Weather worldwide-starvation due to lack of sun.Oil depleted by that time.New geopolitical order. Russia be prepared to move to Siberia.Built more railroads and wind power before oil is depleted.Japan food!!!

  • I heard the end of the world was in 2012 by the ancient civilization the Aztecs who studied and first came up with astronomy.

  • im scrwed wait i have a tv wii a mom and dad sister and dogs an some cheetos and a mac im scared **CRIES HUGS MOMMY**

  • My neighbors laughed when they saw I was building a spaceship in my garage to escape before the asteroid gets here. Who's laughing now??! By suckers!

  • we get to see this live in 2029 and 2036. Get ready with the popcorn. No need to throw it in the microwave. They'll pop 30 seconds after it hits. Best place to be in when it happens?...try the moon.

  • does someone know where to download this film (it is called cosmic collisions and is shown at planetariums, I saw it once and was very impressed)?

  • If their was an extinction that massive and that quick you would find billions of dinosaur bodies on the same layer of earth. But you dont. I think the dinosaurs evolved into birds. This theory is possible but it is very unlikly in my oppinion.

  • Is it possible that NATURAL climate change (which is current!) could have led to the slow demise of the dinosaurs? Something to think about, no?

  • There is such a thing called being INCINERATED you know. Just like scattering ashes and leaving no trace.

  • o.o how can a rock that small compared to the earth destroy it?

  • because of the speed that its traveling.

  • It would have shout "OwenD" if it hit teh earth o_O

  • im Christian and im proud of it :) the fact with religions are that they belive in others thnigs than death and destruction! when people say: "see you in hell" or such.. why they say it if they dont belive it? O.o if hell exists so does heaven :p i belive that when i die i come to a peacfull place! a place without war and cry! a place where people dont die or kill! a place where u are free! a place to rest. life on earth is for me, only a test. a very hard one. other religions see it other ways

  • what if you go to hell? i mean im catholic but im not like other boasting christians telling others that there going to hell and that im going to heaven, for only god can judge that not me,nor you.

  • Tell me, what religions see it that way? islam?judiasm? You are mis-lead, you are not the only religion who thinks like that. Us muslims believe in the exact same thing. Today's islam is closer to original christianity then today's christianity is. We don't worship a prophet, but we worship the lord who created all. Yet today's media displays jesus more important then godhimself, and they give him white skin and blue eyes, then throw on a cross. How can jesus be white if he was middle-eastern?

  • It amazing, a place where people dont die..would be incredible awful...and if you got rid of fanatics who believe in fairytales to justify war and hate and murder, i bet this earth would be pretty much the heaven u make believe about. Christs message was, LOVE ONE ANOTHER...and earth will BE paradise...THIS IS REALITY FOLKS! EARTH, no heaven not hell...here, earth, now...wake up!

  • i would be happy just not to see a paki again.

  • do us all a favour and go home then and take your family and bombs with you !!

  • na earth wil be de stroyed by humans itself not nature or a god or w/e

  • Proof there is no god, order, and no justice. But before you assualt me christians and others, think, that the injustice towards the dinosaurs (because evolution is TRUE to anyone with an atom of brain power)allowed for our existence. It is inevitable, that the indifference of nature will surely wipe us out, perhaps allowing a less self destructive form of life to take hold on this earth. We COULD prevent this...but we wont because we invest to much in war and religion instead of reason and truth

  • dont worry im christian an i dont think god created earth its just to much to prove that he didnt god is only a "BELIEF" this isnt a belief this is tha real deal

  • true dat!

  • @mrmonkeyman1985 dude.. actually the devil could be causing the destruction not god... god doesnt want anyone to die..

  • @mrmonkeyman1985 uh huh

  • nice plan, it could work..

    by

  • calm down

  • Well established THEORY.

We do not know for a fact that this is what happened.

  • So?

  • Yeah?

  • what's your point :D

  • True but there are libraries of hard facts and well, millions of fossils that say, yes this is what happened. There is a buried crater several hundred kilometers wide whose isotopic iridium ashes can be SEEN at precisly the same layer in every known rock strata from this time period, this DID happen, there is no theory, there is hard evidence. There is not one, single shred of proof for any god or order inherent in nature, just highly reactive star dust and BILLIONS of years of interaction

  • dam, i commented this a while ago, you look through the comments and pick those to reply to?

lol I am well aware of the layer of ash. But the fact that there are fossils is an undisputable fact.... haha

But the fact remains that this is still a theory of what happened. so you as likely as it may have been, it is in fact possible things could have been quite different from what we ll hypothesize. This is merely a discussion on how your mind works.

  • Apophis. Fun times.

  • i think its bullshit the astroid wasnt big at all and how can something that was so small cause that mass of destruction? I dont think its a fireball i believe its more of the astroid impact that actually affected the earths atmosphere

  • hi to people at o.m.s

  • "temperatures rose to 500° Fahrenheit, litterally as hot as an oven." Well, no shit' sherlock.

  • thats bigger than 7 miles to me

  • I feel that is a very accurate animation. The ejecta impacts from the dino-killer are very large.

I should have some vids of ejecta impacts up later this week. Look to North East Oregon for the impact site. I feel the Chicxulub impact to be ejecta from the Wallowa impact.

    -Dennis-

  • thx for the message

  • im scared isthis true or in leap year for 2012

  • I wouldn't worry about it just yet. it will happen but it could be any when. could be 10yrs 100yrs 1000yrs or a million yrs away.

I didn't put the vid up to frighten ppl its just a cool NASA animation.

  • wouldve been MUCH bigger!

  • If the temperature of the atmosphere was 500 degrees for an hour how did any dinosaurs survive?

  • water. only so much could evaporate, especially in places such as marianas trench, only a few animales down such depths could survive

  • lol....thats not going to happen tho because the moon is going to be in the way before it hits earth...the moon will not do that

or the sun it will not hit the earth

  • lol you knuclehead

  • hahaha so what happens when it hits the moon at 40,000 km/h.. just play it off as whats done is done. then we have no tide and weather.. SUNNY DAYS FOR ALL!

  • They should send a 8 man team onto the asteroid. And drill holes into it. Then drop explosives into the holes, and hopefully get off the asteroid in time so they can blow it up.

  • that would be one kick ass movie

  • we need faith we need hope we need to believe that we can be like the mamals that survived we need to defend our home for all it does for us we need a sheild we need to drop our lust for money and save the planet thats how i see it anyway

  • just think we only track 3 % of teh sky they could come from anywhere if it came from behind the sun we wouldn even b able to see it

  • ljhjub vjb? ljhjub

  • i think that blowing it up with with biggest nu-clear bomb would do it and the little rocks would just burn up when they enter the atmosphere

  • you could shoot a nuke at it! ! ! This would cause a change in the meteors direction, else it would increase the surface area exposed to burn up in the atmosphere.

  • the best thing to do is,take a fan and blow it to another solar system, rofl, anyways back to the video, even though its tiny lil' gravitational pull will throw it off course, and just be miles from earth, doesnt mean the earths humongous gravitational pull wont pull it back into earth and into its atmosphere

  • the best way to change the cource of the asteroid, would be to send a craft to land on the surface and try to push it of course.

but we would need year and years notice b4 hand lol

I made a fictional documentary that looks at this. its about the end of the world.

chack it out, ill post it as a vid responce to this :)

  • how lucky are we that coincidentally a meteor crashed into earth and somehow managed to make it perfect for humans to come in.

  • The little tug that the man made craft would bring is way way out of our time scale. all we have at the moment is nukes and thats still how i would like to see and no are chances where with, i thought the pull from a nearby object may do it but it will not unless we get around 2,000 years notice. as of yet we are not that advance so we only have bruit force.

thats just my opinion and is no way how it could and should end up. so please comment.

  • Universal pictures))))))))))

  • my idea is that we blow the meteor up and then when we get lots of stones flying aginst earth we build many citys underwater, and then we ewalve to flying humans

  • interesting and maybe it just could save us.

  • this was the exact samr video that they played in the smithsonian air and space museum planetarium. there was more, i remember it was called cosmic collisions. is that were u got it from?

  • This was taken from the NASA online Channel

  • attechuk?,.. how did u join youtube 1 year ago but the video was added in 2006? im not being a wanker its just baffeling me LOL

  • ya lol hmm i guess it will say 1yr ago until ive been a member for 2yr dunno but i have also been wondering that and i think i may have been a member for over 2yrs i haven't kept any record of when i joined but it feels more like 4 yrs than 1yr

  • must be a youtube anomoly

  • What are they waiting? START WORKING!!!

  • they didnt find a better palce for the asteroid to crash, they just find MEXICO, it could be on an other place!!!

  • lol

  • The Rothschild/Illuminati plan is to reduce the earth's population by at least 85 percent. I do not wish to be a scaremonger, but could such tech be used for this purpose?

  • Robert Redford is commentating this lol. I just saw this at the Franklin Institute Planetarium and it starts out "Hi, This is Robert Redford" The audience got mad lulz from that

  • well they better start working on making that shouldn't they

  • TRUE THATS A VERY GOOD IDEA!

  • impossible!

    just impossible...

  • wow what a dumb idea. I would rather take the chance of smaller pieces hitting instead of that huge one. Nuke the fucker 5 times over. Problem Sovled.

  • Nukes wouldn't do nothing as the speed of the astroid would be to great for nukes to do any damage.

    seen armagedon?

  • I can see you aren't a physicist. Actually, many chunks could potentially be more destructive than a single large impact of the same amount of material.

  • LMFAO!

You my friend, are a genius.

  • imagine see that f**king big ass thing fly over you house millions of miles over head and just thinking "WOW!"

    i would be amasied

  • LOL so true 200000

  • They died, now they're trying to get back at us by trying to take our lives on december 21, 2012
