  • i love it

  • Its Aliiiivveee!!

  • haha isn't the mac pro to heavy to be placed on the top shelf :D

  • Clean your shit bro

  • how is it going im planning to get a mac mini refurbished

  • dude find a better place for it dude cuz i wouldnt think you would want that beutiful machine to fall lol

  • thats disgusting u r a pig !!!

    holy wires batman

  • What a mess! haha

  • man to many cords nice vid:)

  • your mac pro deserves neat cable routing!!!!

  • wow, it loosk like my desk.. AFTER the maid has arrived (and quit!)

  • same

  • you didnt seem excited about it,

altho i am glad you skipped the boring parts people normally put in in their vids :)

  • @stonecoldsteven what, like the opening of box and stuff. haha

  • imagine if it fell lol

  • Somebody should get out more.

  • And do what? Go to the mall? No thanks.

  • that peice of wood(shelf) can not hold that beast (mac pro) , i dont want your mac pro to fall down cuz of the shelf. put it somewhere else so its more safe,(just a tip ) :)

  • Whatever, that shelf was totally strong enough. Though for what it's worth I moved out of that place a few days after I made the video - the shelf stayed. :D

  • Am i right in thinking that you can buy a Mac Pro at the cheapest available price with all the basic features and then upgrade everything yourself or do some of the things eg graphics card NEED to be bought from apple otherwise you are stuck with them like my iMac - i cannot upgrade graphics card.

  • You can add hard drives and memory on your own. But the ram these things use is server class memory, so it's quite expensive compared against the typical stuff. There's a growing trend of people tweaking non-apple video cards to run on the mac pro, but I don't recommend even considering that unless you think you really could handle some fairly low-level work. At least do your research before trying that one. Otherwise, yes, you need to get stuff from Apple. And for that, I think they suck.

  • .. I mean, Apple chooses VERY nice hardware, they make awesome software.. However their underlying trend of total locked-out control is similar to buying a car with the hood welded shut. And in a world where people commonly make their own cars from whatever around them, that's sort of lame. I do see a rhyme and reason to their approach however and I often recommend their products to family/friends. But the kind of user I am doesn't appreciate being chained down as am actually limited by that...

  • But, at the end of the day, I love my mac pro.. :)

  • refurbished products buy apple are good. I bought one of the last gen macbook pros for $1300 and they put a new outside case on them just used hardware.

  • ugh. I'm offended that you mix good quality and cheaply made products. LOL Just Playing. I thought about getting a refurb Apple product. I wouldn't mind a scuff. long as it's too big or on my screen.

  • They have a pretty high standard for their refurb stuff. Just keep looking in to it until you feel comfortable. Or spend the extra $ if you can't seem to settle your fears. Of course, you could also buy a non-apple machine. Check out Pystar if that interests you.

    Have fun..

  • make an my setup video

THANK YOU PLZ MAKE A SETUP VIDEO!!!!!

  • What do you mean by "a setup video"? Are you asking for a video on things up hooking up cables or something?

  • if you compared the mac pro (the one you have) with a IMac with 2,16 Ghz Intel Core 2 Dup and 1 gb ram how much better/faster is the mac pro??

  • They're different machines in more than one way - so there's many ways you could argue the mac pro is "faster". Though that doesn't have to mean it's better.

The Mac Pro I show here has 8 processors at 2.8GHz - compared with two at 2.16GHz in the imac you mention... If you're browsing the web, the imac is already far overpowered. "No matter how many women you assign to the task, it still takes 9 months to produce a baby".

This Mac Pro has 2gb ram and can use many hard drives (for a fast RAID)

  • i just wonder if im going to edit videos and stuff that takes alot of memory will the mac pro do it faster and is the mac pro worth to buy?

  • Well, you can do all the same stuff with the imac. The pro is just going to be able to move faster IF you're using software tools that can make use of the extra hardware.

  • i'm going to by a 2nd mac cus i have separated parents (could'nt spell the other word) and the two chises i have is between a mac mini 1,053 USD(upgraded) or mac pro 2,799 USD what do you think is the best for editing videos that takes around 5 - 15 gb??(Very High Quality!!)

  • If having separated parents means you need to travel often, maybe you should consider a Macbook Pro?

  • no im going to keep the computor i'm buying at one of my parents cus i already have an imac.. and im not really interestad in buying another imac or macbook i just want a powerfull computor that can take information fast.

  • Well, then get a Mac Pro. Or a quad core clone..

  • yeah im gonna get the same typical as you have ;) just one thing just cus im not very good at the computor-language... what do you mean with a quad core clone??

  • I mean a non-apple computer using an Intel Quad Core processor.

  • okay but still quad core 2 is better than single quad

  • Only for really bizarre & rare things.. For you, I doubt you'd ever know the difference.

  • but i think 1 gb/minute videos is rare but if you still think this wont make any differences i'm probably going to buy the single quad core.

  • Well it *could make a difference when Snow Leopard comes out. It mostly is a matter of how much you have to spend.

  • do you know when the snow leopard comes out and is ther going to be a new mac pro in about 4 months?

  • Don't call Mac's computers... You'll get the Apple fanboys all in a mess in their pants.

    Nice refurb though.

  • huh? They're as much computers as anything else with a processor executing instructions, calculating things. And anything with 8 Xeon cores in it can't be called anything other than a CPU-intense mound of computer. Fanboys can bite me. I run Linux/Windows/OSX and occasionally Solaris on my Mac Pro.

  • lol, you know that, and I know that, but you have to remember, people who follow "trends" in a cult-like fashion, do not use rational thinking, especially if they believe it is anywhere near what they're brainwashed into believing. :)

  • are those the gray back up disks that are sitting on your desk?

  • Yup, but they're for my laptop, not the mac pro.

  • So the refurbished Mac Pro's don't come with back up disks?

  • its amazing how good any machine is buying refurbishes ones , my brother used to work for a company that refurbs old dell laptops mainly , and HP desktops all that kinda shit , they only broke because of biscuit crumbs in the dvd drives etc

  • I see..

  • Nice router, looks old school but they work well don't they? How many ports is that?

  • My router isn't in the video - you're probably talking about my switch - which isn't that old school at all.. It's a 16 port 10/100 switch. Behind it, obscured is a 5 port gigabit switch - I use it as a bit of a backbone just for file transfers and whatnot between the main boxes.

  • hey do u think its the same as a new 1

was it damaged or any thing

i am thinking about getting a refubished mac pro

  • It is the same as the new one. Refurbished means they shipped it to someone who, for whatever reason, returned it. They then go through a list and check the machine to make sure everything is fine. Then they put it in a different box, ship it to you at a reduced price and give you the same warranty you would have got if you'd bought a "new" one. Does that help?

  • However, unless I am mistaken. The refurbished products may be slightly scratched. Like I say they MAY be scratched(not all of them, there are still plenty of great non-scratched products.) This is the only reason that I haven't seriously considered purchasing one. They are great deals if you find one that isn't scratched or you simply don't care what your mac looks like. Warranty is the same and you can even put Apple Care on them.

  • Well, seems to me they claim the cosmetic damage is very carefully examined.. Your machine will look very close if not perfectly brand-new. Though maybe others who've bought more of these refurbs can comment.

  • If damaged at all, like you said, it is minimal. I haven't considered buying one of these but I am thinking that I should.

  • Well, personally, I like my stuff looking tip-top and I'd feel foolish to pay full price now that I've discovered their refurbished store.

  • well to me i just feel better buying the new ones cause. but good choice because it will be cheaper to

  • Lol it's just as bad as Microsoft with their "refurbished and Certified Replacement Consoles."

  • Well, if their refurb stuff has the same warranty as the new stuff, then it is the same. Not sure about that program.

  • Hahaha, whats more lame, a dude making a personal video and loading it on to youtube for friends and family and stuff or another dude named after a linear to logarithmic conversion taking the time to stick it to the prior for no apparent reason. Hmmm...? Eff it, I'm gonna go jack off, cum on my chest, and go to work. Hurray for free speech, even if its in french.

  • bahahahahahahahha +1

  • OMFG!! A video of A BOOTING MAC!! That's SO amazing and SO worth a post and SO worth everyone's time!!!! You are so totally my hero! Finally the world sees a BOOTING MAC!

Please give our warmest thanks to your friend who actually sacrificed all that time out of his non-existent life to document this EPIC moment for us...

    Get out much?

  • lol, you're some special kind of douche.

  • Wow... he speaks french, too!! Okay... so I'm a SHOWER. Interesting. More a douche á main or a whole pare-douche??

I'm flattered either way... whatever the fuck it's supposed to imply, which, judging by your age and IQ-less hobbies you don't even know yourself. It's just a way coolio thang to say, right??

man... them brain-dead north american's... ouch.

  • ha ha, where do all these freaks keep coming from? or perhaps you're the other guy with an alternate account. ps - i don't have to justify why i made this video to you. If you don't like it, then mess off.

  • What compels either of you to be so rude?

  • Just so you know. Douche... or the slang insult term for which you completely fit is in act "the rinsing of any body cavity but usually applies to vaginal irrigation, rinsing of the vagina. A douche bag is a piece of equipment for douching: a bag for holding the water or fluid used in douching"

I believe the term douche bag works for you a little better. Though I happen to be a fan of douche WAD. The shit that comes OUT of the douche bag. Gross I know. But hey... you're a douche wad.

  • (*milk comes outta nostrils*)

  • PS - Happythawts has a great point, how disconnected are you that you don't know what a "douche bag" is? Dude... Use YouTube more. That's what it's here for!

  • I like how you ended it.

"Well there you have it, its a computer and it booted and stuff". LOL

  • lol, yeah.. Don't get me wrong, it's all very exciting.. But I've seen some other videos made by people who are definitely major fanboys and I'd like to separate from them a bit (or entirely). I mean, it's just a computer. Though it is pretty awesome.

  • i hope that shelf dosnt fail that would suck

  • It was pretty solid, but now I've got the whole thing on a far cooler more stable shelf. I only had it in that setup for like a day.

  • Nice setup man! If you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for it?

  • I don't mind - it was $2400 whereas the exact same machine new is $2800. So saves a bit and when you get the same warranty and all, it's worth it to me. I mean the savings is like an ipod touch or an Asus eee. :)

(you should see my setup now, puts that one to complete shame)

  • Cool, how about doing a video of your new setup?? Like a room tour or something.

What will you mainly be using it for? Professional use or what??

  • nice bro, but too many wires =o

    lol

  • lol, yeah, the cable management setup there was pretty.. Epic. I really need to post a vid of my current setup as requested by johnthecarman.

  • Nice set up man :P

  • Congrats. I actually just bought the exact model as you - also refurbished. I love it.

  • Yes, I noticed they posted another one on their website not too long ago. When I bought mine they de-listed that particular configuration for a little while. Have you received yours yet? What are you using it for? I seriously love mine despite not being a fan of proprietary case layouts..

  • I have had mine for about 2 weeks now and love it - besides the potential problems with Compressor.

I bought mine just for Final Cut Studio. I've already had bad luck buring DVDs with it. I guess there is a problem with Leopard and Compressor. Not too happy about it...but over all it is a great computer.
