If Dr. M has the power to assemble molecules from a sub atomic structure, why can't he reassemble his human body?
In the end of the movie he says he is leaving Earth to explore the universe, and possibly create a new life from, I am curious why he could not become any life form.
@MineSouthernBorder You need to remember that the machine also left some powers on him, he couldn't become the man he was because the treatment to his molecular structure was too altered for him to be human again. Is the same reason he could try to create lifeforms, but he couldn't become one. His powers had limits, he just looked omnipotent from a human POV.
@MrEwickkk what the fuck do you mean. Name of the song! Are you fucking joking, as if you dont know of this song or band before this moment. You fucking idiot. You dont deserve to watch or listen to this.
@higoraocubo I know but I don't think he wanted to Rorschach could had go allong with the plan and he would had left him live, sadly he couldn't compromise. Both were on a hard place and he had to do what was best for the whole world on the long run :(
@Jaiyeson True but Jon couldn't know that at that point. He can only read his own future he was out of earth by the time it happened and who knows just because is published doesn't mean anyone will believe it.
THIS MESSAGE IS FOR ANYONE WHO KNOWS ZACK SNYDER.... IF THERE IS A WATCHMEN 2 CAN DR MANHATTEN AND LAUREN GET BACK TOGETHER, NOT A FAN OF HER WITH DAN
@imUntraceable sorry meant laurie, but no i didnt know it was a book, that interesting, thought it was a comic ?? but oh well in my mind the dr and laurie stay together !
@andromedastargazer - He did not create life, he created glass on Mars out of sand.
This particular 'Dr.' is only a scientist after all, the son of a nameless watchmaker. My father was a Mathematician, but he never watched the Watchmen. ;)
I can only feel sorry for John. One moment he was but only a man, the next he is something entirely different. Unique. Alone. Everything he was slowly laid bare before him. A hell he not only has to experience but one he has full knowledge will occur and is powerless to change. He is free to do anything he pleases except be human. A man made god unwilling.
@Zaint Yes there is some of that too on my feelings about him, all this powers and yet all this lack of power he can see everything and yet is completely alone in his grandeur. Did you read my fanfiction about him?
@Zaint(whether you believe in him or not) God himself is unwilling. He doesn't stop the genocide in Sudan. He doesn't stop rapes or murders. God didn't stop the Holocaust or the Rape of Nanjing, if he's real all he did was watch, If he is real he isn't benevolent, he watched us like an ant farm. If anything at all Osterman is more willing than god, he was far more involved in earth than any god. He came back to earth when it's life faced annihilation and helped some to prevent it.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus
Though I wasn't saying god is unwilling, I said John was made godlike unwillingly (perhaps I needed to add a comma) As a personal note I'm non-theist
@Zaint Oh, thanks, makes more sense now. I'm atheist. when i was three i realized that the stuff they were telling me in Sunday school was crap, yet i believed in Santa Claus until i was ten, if that tells you anything. I wasn't as naive enough to believe it. But that's what perpetuates the belief people tell kids this when they're mentally least vulnerable so i sticks in their head and any deviation is forced out of them by telling them if they don't believe they'll spend eternity in hell.
@Zaint (sorry for the extra message but i could go on about this for days.) Something that makes me truly sick about religious people is that about 90% of the time they do good it's because they think that it means they'll spend eternity in heaven. Not because doing good is the right thing to do. There are many reasons why being religious is hypocritical, not just pretending to believe in god. Even true believers are full of contradictions.
We are hypocritical. Some days I just want to watch the world burn and other days its just damage control. Think I'll go to my happy place now. I'm no better.
@Zaint I know what you mean. I guess I'm no better either, I've had the same thoughts. But humans are creatures of change. I feel like if we keep aiming toward good our actions will land more on that side, kind of like a scatter plot. I mean I'm just in college and this philosophy just kind of came to me over this past week, but i think it fits as sometimes the best we can do but it's still powerful. As i said we're creature of change, this idea could change in my mind.
@Kleos300 Swing on the spiral of Our divinity and Still be a human ~Maynard
We are driven to expand to search, to try every possibility. That includes the bad and the good, no matter the outcome both options are viable. For all the great wonders we achieve is it worth the terrible sins we commit. I faultier at this point, again I am only human. Perhaps I can't be held responsible for the sins of our fathers.
@chrantheman Rorschach at that moment was breaking. He was a man of solid morale values, who saw the world in black and white, of good versus evil. He had to tell the world the truth even though it would certainly cause a war, and the death of millions of innocence if not the end of the human race. He asked John to stop him, to stop what he would most certainly cause. And John did for better or for worse, just like he took the blame for the attacks.
It is a logical decision..but one made by an artist/writer for the purpose of philosophical stimuli..I always wondered if a being with the understanding of DrM would have found another solution...
I believe in its core its still a human decision after all
In it you see the resentment of Rorschach's mo and the recognition of Ozymandias as an intellectual pier capable of understanding the gravity of the situation.
Or maybe its pure hubris and he should have remained neutral
The logic patterns of each individual is unique, the way I interpret the world is very different from the way you perceive it. But John having once been a man still has remaining human logic patterns. John could have made different choices leading to these events but he didn't or wouldn't. I would never say I understood Dr.M's logic nor Alan Moore's characterization of him; though i do agree that Mr. Moore wanted to make Dr.M a rather large brain bug for the reader.
@bionicboy11 funny :) the statues we usually see of Buddha actually have him in yoga position: meditation. Which is actually exactly what look they were going for with Dr Manhattan here.
Thanks! I know I'm sorry about the subtitles I don't know if is possible to remove them...Well I will try again at some point with a version with no subtitles.
I love coldplay but this does not fit with Manhattan and Watchmen.
