Humans are basically the brothers of the shoggoths, more or less the side-effect of what the elder things wanted to create. Concerning Pnakotus you have to keep in mind that the Yithians mastered time travel and thus the destruction depicted here happened millions of years ago. As they foresaw their own destruction they transported their minds into earth's dominant species in the future, which are not humans. ;) The polyps are their arch-enemies, that's why they helped jack defeat them.

He is a Yith they are a "timelord" race lol.

They are one of the friendly races in lovecraft stories on occasion they switch bodies with humans, Yith goes around in human body to learn human aspect of life while human in Yithian body has access to the great libary in which he can find everything abouth yithians technology, science, culture etc...

The library of Pnakotus contains information on just about every species inhabiting our solar system. The archive is organized on the basis of intelligence, starting with lesser races and ending with the higher. Human beings are just a step above invertebrates on a galactic scale.

In other words, we're almost completely insignificant. And stupid.

The Alien in the library is a Yithian, the ending on is the world of Yith.

@mpanzer6 I don't think so, I believe the library here is the great library from the Yithian's Lost City of Pnakotus; located in Australia's Great Sandy Desert.

Excuse me, do you mind sharing where you found that quote at the start? I'm writing a philosophy paper on Nietzsche's and Lovecraft's philosophy by comparing certain stories from Lovecraft's mythos. I've searched through my copy of Shadow Out of Time and used the fine tool with the online version in the public domain, but I couldn't find that quote.

Why are you blaming Bethesda? They PUBLISHED the game, they didn't DEVELOP it. Major difference there. The actual company that developed it went bankrupt.

@goTha83 If you played PC, that's part of the problem. If what I heard was correct (not sure if it is), one guy finished porting the game to PC himself. All the visual bugs and whatnot are just aggravating. I technically got to the end of the game but couldn't finish it because it bugged and crashed at the very end.

Also if someone could explain whether the asylum cutscenes during the gameplay have some importance or not I would be grateful. I get that he was lunatic but is that the reason for all the asylum scenes where blood suddenly appeared to be pouring down from the roof?

You said "Bethesda SCREW YOU" You are aware, are you not, that Bethesda had little to nothing to do with the game? They just helped with the financing and publishing. The game was made by Head First who sadly went bankrupt because the xbox version of this game pretty much flopped.

163 headshots and enemy kills 154? Does that make any sense? :D or don't they die from a headshot?

@tolkki32 Sometimes enemies do not die from headshots, and this depends on the weapon you're using in combination with the foe you are fighting. For example, the mutated townsfolk do not die from a single headshot from the pistol, which is the only weapon you get at that stage of the game other than the shotgun. The pistol is an incredibly weak weapon, damage-wise. The revolver, on the other hand, will almost always kill in a single headshot. The rest of the guns in the game are decently strong.
