I have a 90's strat with a thin neck and it sounds quite thin so I'm thinking of changing the neck to a U or C shaped neck. Do you think a fatter neck will fatten the sound of the strat?
nice tone quality, throw a compressor in there and you nailed that Brad Paisley chicken picken tone :) I also own a vibrolux, mine is a '68 I use a 52 RI Tele and a Godin LGXT this amp brings out the quality in both guitars. I hear alot of bashing silverfaced fenders, but they are a handwired amp and "boutique" amps have studied THIS amp as their layout... look it up.
From what I understand, '68-'69 Vibrolux's are almost identical to the Blackface circuit.
Only some of the SilverFace later models sucked...most of the early SF Fenders are awesome amps. I have a late 70's Princeton and Deluxe that were "blackfaced" and for the price, you can't beat that tone!
Well first, the Plexi amplifiers like the JTM45 are way older than the vibrolux series and much rarer for all original ones since there were fewer of them made. Also, you can pay well into the $3000 range for a BLACKFACE Vibrolux and just as much or more for old tweed amps of the same age as plexis. There's a lot more to be said on the matter that won't fit within a comment, message me if you are interested still.
See, that's a sweet deal. You can find them here and there for prices like that in certain places, but if you try to buy one from a dealer or a shop, you'll pay.
in answer to your question, im just a random person by the way, buy and old Vibrolux like this one and find a really good tube amp service guy. dont buy the reissues of Fenders amps. You can find really really nice old Vibrolux's for under a thousand dollars. really cheap for how good they are. the old ones i mean.
if there is a Fender service center near you, you can take it to them. who better to work on it than Fender. Anyways. just thought i would leave a comment. It didnt look like anybody else answered it so i thought id help you out. I have a guy that looks after mine because as much as i know i do not want to mess with those things. Im scared ill get shocked to death even when the amp has sat for a few days. LOL the thought of a shock scares me. ha ha!
True story> I found one of these being wheeled down the street in a shopping trolly by a student who was looking to flog it to raise some money for his rent. I gave him 50 quid and got a lovely 70s Vibrolux Reverb!
I don't get why three people gave you a thumbs down, but to answer your question: I have a '69 Twin Reverb and it brings the best out of any overdrive/distortion/fuzz I run through it. These old Fenders sound amazing straight and serve as a great foundation for pedals.
Fantastic tone. It doesn't get any cleaner than that. BTW, It's really refreshing to see a video where the amp in question has been properly mic'ed! Well done.
Kinda Sounds like my Deluxe...My Deluxe is no average Deluxe However $2K...It literally sounds like your standing in front of a Super Reverb when it's cranked...Parallel channel boost is fucking Wild and gives it balls it never had...
Yes, great Tone....I just love to strum those open Low E Chords, don't you! He..He..Makes me just MELT!
Amazing tone! Silverfaces are sick. What level was the volume at during the first part and then what was it at cranked? Im interested in buying one but i wanna make sure it dosent break up too early. Thanks alot
A guy at work said he had Fender amp in his mothers storage shed. He brought it to work and it is (I think ) a 73 or 74 Vibrolux Reverb. Its not working at the moment but it will be soon.
Great! I can feel the difference between non-master and master volume models, yours sounds great. Clean and cold like it should be in country music! ;-)

What's the difference between this amp and the Custom Vibrolux® Reverb?
danlovesnan 2 years ago
Big difference Custom Vibrolux sound more like - Vox Negative feedback 6L6
Bbenderman 2 years ago
...I can hear a diference...what about the speakers? Is the biggest difference rapresented by the 6L6 ore there is a difference also in the circuit?
Do you like the Custom Vibrolux to be a modern amp or not really? I find it weak with the distortion...
danlovesnan 2 years ago
@Bbenderman strange as the main difference between this and the CVR ist that the custom doesn't have negative feedback ;)

but i must say it's not easy to play clean through a fender amp.
The tone is fantastick.
but you can forget to hide Mistakes.

Ha! The SRV sound is exactly what I was hoping to hear! In fact "Pride and Joy" is what I always play when checking out clean amps!
Waht number was the volume cranked up to for that part? Do you need to use earplugs?
