Please tell me how over a trillion dollars are going into the healthcare reform plan with "the government's" money without affecting taxes on middle class(which myself & most are)?
It will put hospitals and doctors quickly out of business and the wait will be too long for even simple medical problems. When all is said and done, it will not be a financially feasible "option". How can you say government won't control it when it's SET UP and regulated by the government?

benmhess, You probably believe that Canada has crappy healthcare with long waiting too. Right? Well I'll tell you first hand that is all bullshit that the Republicans want you to believe. I live less than 1/4 mile from Canada and have friends that will claim to be common law partners and I have received AWESOME, FREE healthcare better than here in America! It's all HYPE so you wont have a problem with them manipulating the system in their favor! No marriage necessary in Canada!!!

GlaxoSmithKlein is a product of several mergers dating back to the 19th century, suffice it to say they grew out of Capitalist conditions, and way before health care in Britain was flushed down the drain. As it is all their new R+D sites are proposed for the US

But yes the conditions in U.K now are taking their toll, While the company has run into large problems bringing its socialized mentality to the U.S, including;
Civil Fines for overcharging MediCare, running afoul of the IRS (for no small sum either), in addition they face massive legal battles over several new (but harmful) drugs, Paroxetine,Paxil, Flonase all have proved defective or overpriced in class actions involving over 10,000 U.S citizens.

But I'm curious about one thing, Why is it that those opposed to a public option believe that it will destroy healthcare? It seems like there's a logical disconnect there.
I'm a US citizen residing in a country with a public option, and it works great. Healthcare simply isn't an issue here. If I'm sick I go to the hospital, I get a check up, get medicine.. then pay about $10. All done in about an hour.

By most comparisons of world standards of living, the US doesn't crack the top ten and a big reason for this is the abysmal performance in health care.
There's an industry devoted to convincing Americans they don't want national health care and lobbying politicians to torpedo any reform program.
The US is being left behind.

In Canada we spend about 11% of our GDP on healthcare. Everyone has coverage, although access to facilities and doctors can be limited in rural areas.
The U.S. spends about 15.5% of GDP. 47 million (and growing) left in the cold. I don't know about accessability in rural areas, but my guess is it's not great.
Yet we still have a lot of very wealthy people.
The US has the best health care in the world? Maybe the technology is the best, but it is the COVERAGE that need reform.

Our health care is broken too, My experience being a patient in Canada, Leads me to believe we need a change in philosophy over here too,its not just rural areas, The quality of service in inner cities is abysmal.
I'd rather have Nationalized health care insurance, With the individual person free to opt out to private insurance. Rather then our current system which depends so much on government funding and management to function.

Actually 47 million is an old figure, the figure now is 50 million. Same with the 15.5% of our GDP, it's now at 16% (not a huge difference but still) and I know Canada has great coverage... it's single payer. I think you thought I was trying to say the opposite of what I really was. I would also add that the American people can actually SAVE $350 Billion by switching to single payer.
