hey, i just downloaded Operation 7 for windows, but when it downloads, it shows the application icon, and stuff, all okay. But when i try to open it, the little icon bobs on the dock, but then it vanishes. whats going on?
I got my crossover and steam working and even installed cs source, but every time I launch it it shows loading and then closes leaving steam and crossover still running. Any suggestions?

It is not running natively. Ok, so you are running OSX. That means the Darwin Kernel is loading on your processor. CSS is not being recompiled, so you are running code compiled for a windows kernel. CSS is making D3D function calls the same way it would on a PC. Then, because OSX does not support D3D, Crossover re-routes those function calls to the corresponding OpenGL function calls. Thus, it is not running natively. Instead, the hardware abstraction layer is being emulated.
To clarify, this means that the hardware is not being emulated. It is closer to "native" than hardware emulation (like running "Virtual PC"), but it is NOT running "natively". You say "natively" around 15 times, and you shouldn't use words you don't understand in the least bit.
Is your major judge of an operating system how it looks? I mean, what about DirectX 10? Sure, you have CSS running on a macbook in OSX. But can you get anything with SM4 shaders or D3D10 instancing running on that? No Mac can do what I do on my PC, even in Vista.

it's not a slow computer, it's a beta version of software that makes an exceptionally difficult conversion possible. it's like running a playstation emulator: you're almost guaranteed a hit in performance, simply because you're not playing an actual playstation

1) Crossover isn't an emulator. It's a translation utility that translates the DOS/Windows Code into Unix code. That's not emulation.
2) A person shouldn't have to use windows if they don't want to.

No, my PC runs CS:Source perfectly at 800x600. 1024x768 runs smoothly, but not flawlessly. This is with all settings on high. It's just I have never had any luck with Apple software, much less iPods or Macs.

it's not a slow computer, it's a beta version of software that makes an exceptionally difficult conversion possible. it's like running a playstation emulator: you're almost guaranteed a hit in performance, simply because you're not playing an actual playstation

lol ur sooo wrong. cos u have to use windows on ur mac! u still cannot run decent games in OSX without a emulator. windows on a mac is the death of any mac OS cos allot mac users will simply use windows cos theres still very little software that runs on any Mac OS's. wow it takes 2 minutes to connect to a server on a mac lame. Why even bother playing windows games on a mac? You can build a computer minus keyboard monitor and mouse that will play source fairly well for about 500 dollars. Playing windows games on a mac is kinda like running windows on a mac its gay....
