The passing of an era. I am sure we all recall how Bob was always there for us on the days we were home from school sick. We miss you Bob, enjoy your retirement.
@THERobertL2000 I know. I was 11 when Johnny Olson died, but I have to say that no one can hold a candle to Rod Roddy. I found he was one of the most famous TV announcer ever. I think it was his shiny suits and stuff, but Rod was great.
what would have made this episode more memorable is that if either of them had the double showcase win. it would've been the greatest start and end to a memorable season.
Bob Barker was a true showman, I don't know how many times I've seen him get around sets breaking down or problem contestants. No matter what I never saw him loose his cool, Drew Carry has a lot of live up to.
Only thing that could have made this better was to have had Rod Roddy as the announcer . No offense to Rich, he's awesome, but Rod and Bob had so many years together...
Im happy for that lady winning her showcase. But...didnt she know it was Bob's last show?? I would have been hugging Bob like crazy, saying thank you, thank you. Then pointing to the crowd to all stand up...while I was shouting Bob, Bob,Bob,Bob. This lady just ran right to her prizes. I guesse thats just me.
I'm glad she won! It was very noble of her to pass the first showcase because she had already won a car. It is a bummer, though, that the guy had a chance to win a car twice but lost out both times.
what made him great was his sense of humor. when he'd get crazy people on the show, he would joke around with them. drew doesn't really do any of that. i still watch the show, i just wish it was still bob
I've watched The Price is Right ever since I was a baby. I'm won't lie, I cried when I watched Bob Barker's last show (and I'm a guy). I wish I was old enough to attend a show with Bob Barker. I still watch The Price is Right, but not nearly as often as I did with Bob Barker.
It was very sad to see Bob Barker go, i was watching the Price is Right growing up, and when i found out that he was no longer the host, i just stopped watching the show
"Help control the pet population, have you pet spaded or neuterted" Nice Quote to go off with =P But he really was an icon for the game show industry, sad that he isn't here anymore.
One thing I regret never getting to do was be on the Price is Right while Bob Barker was on the show. Had the chance back in 98, but I was too young to get in, didn't know it at the time unfortunately.
The end of an era, and the beginning of a new with Drew, who has taken the role of Host of TPIR, and RAN with it. We love Bob and we also love Drew! :D
I haven't seen it on these videos but just after this show when it aired Bob walked from that stage onto the stage of the Daytime Emmy Awards. I remember that distincly.
I think just before it cut to the Daytime Emmys, it showed Bob backstage for a minute or so I think. If I remember right, at one point he joked that he wanted David Letterman to be his partner on the next season of "The Amazing Race". At least that's what I think he said.
I'm sick of reading all the comments about how it's not the same without Bob, and how Drew Carey isn't as good. Give me a break! Do you really think that Drew Carey is trying to replace Bob, or that he thinks he is (or will someday be) equally as good? Bob has done the show forever and is an icon. Drew isn't an idiot. Still, give the guy a chance! He was a great pick. He was great on Who's Line and he seems to be a great guy. Don't shun him just for being the new guy. Try to have an open mind.
Yeah, I personally think he's done a great job with the show, although I've seen only a few shows with him and that was a long time ago now. The best part about him is he's himself. He doesn't ever try to be Bob, and that's great because if he did, everyone would hate him, lol.
I guess it only made sense that Bob ended his final show like he did every other show, reminding everyone to have their pets spayed or neutered. Nothing fancy or too over the top, just ending in the nice classy way we've seen him do it for 35 years. I miss you, Bob!
His farewell message was short, sweet, classy, and to the point. Gotta love the guy, and gotta love this show. There's a reason they have a spot in the Guiness Book of World Records.
Regarding the Big Doors, I didn't like how they were made! I thought they would look like the set from either the Classic or 2002 set with a big red 35 or better look the way they were from season 25. But, this design? Nope! Not good! However, at least the MDS set remained intact!
Congradulations contestants; use your prizes wisely. We may have set the record for daytime winnings on TPIR, what a time for it to happen. Bob's speech was just what we needed to close it all up; being in televison for 50 years is a milestone in anybody's book. He was gracious to have done this show and ToC for all those years. This finale didn't over do it; he treated it as an ordinary episode with only a breif mention to not get off topic. This finale gets 5 stars; it may not be topped.
GOD bless YOU BOB BARKER!!! I WATCHED THIS SHOW EVERYDAY WHEN I WAS YOUNGER. THANKS FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO ENTERTAINMENT. YOU HAVE WORKED HARD AND YOU HAVE BY FAR DESERVED A RELAXING RETIREMENT. GOD BLESS YOU AND I MISS YOU SIR!!!
Sheesh, people fighting over The Price is Right? Get a job people! Bob, I watched you all through the years, from my days as a child when I stayed with my Grandma and we'd watch you, to now when I'm a father myself and my daughter and I would watch you. 4 generations (counting my mom) of viewing, not many other game show hosts will ever say that. Drew, I like you too man, so no disrespect meant, and thank God that Rosie didn't get the job! LoL.
For the record, this was also the last time the Mark Goodson tag was used on TPIR. Even though Mark Goodson Productions ceased to exisist years ago, TPIR still used it as a tradition.
Wow! That rude woman totally ignores Bob. How rude and sorry!
I was very sad as well when this final episode came around. When you're in your early 30s and see the final episode of a quality show that has been on the air your entire life, seeing it come to an end was similar to seeing a relative pass away. It really was.
No one will replace Bob. No sense in trying. CBS would've been better off airing re-runs of this show instead of trying to continue with a new host.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It's too bad that Bob, a clean-cut man otherwise, appeared in an unclean movie with the likes of that worthless piece of trash, Adam Sandler. In fact, 99% of what comes down the pike in Hollywood is trash and new-age-propaganda-filled trash, at that. In fact, the propaganda isn't just new-age but is of essentially every topic you can think of that propaganda attaches itself to, such as gay propaganda, etc..
Bob made a huge mistake when being a part of that worthless, trashy movie. No doubt.
Shut up, Bob said he had a lot of fun in that bit and so did everyone with a sense of humor when they saw it. Get the stick out of your ass, this is Bob's send off. Who are you to decide what makes him happy or not?
"striker"--First of all, boy, don't you talk to me this way.
Secondly, don't promote relativism to me. Relativism is totally wrong, and by the way, if truth were relative, who would you be to attack MY opinion? Understand?
Of course, again, truth is absolute, not relative.
Finally, Barker participated in a lewd movie and deserves criticism for it. He shouldn't have been a part of it. Do you understand? If you don't like my saying so, get over it, because my obligation isn't to lies.
Never said you were lying, just saying you're wrong. Especially you saying he "deserves criticism" for it when you are NOBODY to judge anyone. Unless you consider yourself of higher standing of some sort. Where do you get your rocks off on judging what is lewd or not? You may not have liked the movie, but Adam Sandler didn't make a career to please tightwads like yourself. So while you live life spitting on Barker for what he did, I instead will live on praising him for all he has given. Peace.
I think it was pretty cool when Rich Fields introduced him to the crowd one last time by saying: "Seventeen-time Emmy Award winner Bob Barker!" I think speak for every Price is Right fan when I say he was quite simply the man.
You bet there were tears in people's eyes. I was there! After the show, he again said "I thank you for welcoming me into your homes for 50 years, and I am most grateful!" The overall mood of the audience was very enthusiastic, but it wasn't until Bob left that it hit everyone that this was IT.
During Grocery Game, the cash register broke. He took questions from the audience, and I asked him what he was doing after the show. His response "I am going to get drunk!"
A $90,000 showcase??!! Geez, I remember when they were starting to push $42,000 at the end of the show. Even more incredible is that the contestants didn't even overbid and also bid under by less than $8,000. I'm still annoyed that Drew is the new host, but I'll rant elsewhere. I've never seen that much value put into prizes in a single show, not even the 5,000th episode comes close.
I forgot what show it was. It was either a season premiere or a holiday special (I think it was the first) but the showcase was about $90,000 and the person won the double showcase.
This one was also played in prime time, so they could get away with $90,000 showcases. And the jib camera used for the MDS shows became standard with this episode. They've carried it over to the Drew era.
I think a better idea would be maybe if they could have bob maybe return for nighttime specials. He's probaly done doing TPIR totally, but it would be cool to see him again on tv.
I still love Bob Barker so much, but if Drew Carey comes on next month, if I can see the new host doing "The Price is Right", I will not be watching it. Bob Barker is still the one, maybe I can dream about putting all the reruns of the 35 years of "The Price Is Right" with Bob Barker. I would love to see him in reruns. I've seen Bob since I was a kid, I've seen Bob when I was a teenager and I've seen Bob right to the very end.
Yeah, they just repeated the final episode just now on CBS since the new season with Drew starts on Monday. It was sad watching it because now all the RE-RUNS are done, so as far I know know, there will never be a full episode with Barker ever again shown on TV. That was it. =(
again i have to say i am really stunned bob's career closed in such a mundane manner!! i was expecting some greater form of tribute ... they showed a clip of bob's entry on the first show on the HDTV, they played a lot of vintage games but that was about it!
That's probably what Bob really wanted. I can say this - he handled his final show (and every other show over the last 35 years) in the most professional manner possible.
yea i believe bob asked to not have tributes during his last show. as christusvincit said, he finished it off in the most profession manner. Long live bob barker!
Wow, I didn't even pay much attention to the fact that all the games played are games from the start of TPIR. Then again, I never seem to catch these things. ;P
sniff....so sad...baaawwwwllllllllll =(

Secondly, don't promote relativism to me. Relativism is totally wrong, and by the way, if truth were relative, who would you be to attack MY opinion? Understand?
Of course, again, truth is absolute, not relative.
Finally, Barker participated in a lewd movie and deserves criticism for it. He shouldn't have been a part of it. Do you understand? If you don't like my saying so, get over it, because my obligation isn't to lies.
objectivethirdparty 3 years ago
Never said you were lying, just saying you're wrong. Especially you saying he "deserves criticism" for it when you are NOBODY to judge anyone. Unless you consider yourself of higher standing of some sort. Where do you get your rocks off on judging what is lewd or not? You may not have liked the movie, but Adam Sandler didn't make a career to please tightwads like yourself. So while you live life spitting on Barker for what he did, I instead will live on praising him for all he has given. Peace.

You're a prude. What movies do you like? Jesus Camp?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Watch the E! True Hollywood Story about Bob Barker, he's done far worse then that.
I don't know what makes you think Happy Gilmore was a trashy movie though. Adam Sandler is my favorite actor. Do you just have no sense of humor?

They Should have kept it Mark Goodson Television Productions In Honor Of Bob & Mark Goodson!
peanut389 3 years ago 4
That's the only reason why they kept it that way for so long (MG Productions actually ceased to exist years earlier).

I wish they would anyway.

Drew Carey aint no Bob Barker.....

I think it was pretty cool when Rich Fields introduced him to the crowd one last time by saying: "Seventeen-time Emmy Award winner Bob Barker!" I think speak for every Price is Right fan when I say he was quite simply the man.

Perhaps thhey can invite Bob back to guest host in season 36 of TPiR

I certainly hope so.

I'll bet a lot of the audience members and crew members had tears in their eyes ar the end credits rolled.

Pause at 2:31 and 2:46. Look who's the Editorial Consultant and a Stage Manager for the Price is Right. LOL

As ritsy and expensive as these prizes were, this final show Bob did might as well have been a million dollar spectacular
swensation55 4 years ago
A $90,000 showcase??!! Geez, I remember when they were starting to push $42,000 at the end of the show. Even more incredible is that the contestants didn't even overbid and also bid under by less than $8,000. I'm still annoyed that Drew is the new host, but I'll rant elsewhere. I've never seen that much value put into prizes in a single show, not even the 5,000th episode comes close.
andrejfavia 4 years ago
I forgot what show it was. It was either a season premiere or a holiday special (I think it was the first) but the showcase was about $90,000 and the person won the double showcase.
kungfurabbits 4 years ago
This one was also played in prime time, so they could get away with $90,000 showcases. And the jib camera used for the MDS shows became standard with this episode. They've carried it over to the Drew era.

Aha. I got a good idea...
Have Bob be a contestant for charity.
It'd be pretty funny, since he knows how the games work.
JoshTehAwsome 4 years ago 2
That would be good but he don't no anythin about prices.
mycah259 4 years ago
I think a better idea would be maybe if they could have bob maybe return for nighttime specials. He's probaly done doing TPIR totally, but it would be cool to see him again on tv.

I was also the last time ever the Announcer said "This been a Mark Goodson Televison Production" now they say "This is a Fremantle Production".

Is there any remanents of Mark Goodson/Bill Todman productions left?

I don't think so.

HomeoftheGoodGuys 4 years ago
I guess that "The Price Is Right" is still showing reruns from last season with Bob Barker from its final year as the host.
HomeoftheGoodGuys 4 years ago
Yeah, they just repeated the final episode just now on CBS since the new season with Drew starts on Monday. It was sad watching it because now all the RE-RUNS are done, so as far I know know, there will never be a full episode with Barker ever again shown on TV. That was it. =(
Frightwolf 4 years ago
Bob was brave to make it through his final show without crying. If I was Bob I would have been balling my eyes out.

"Until next time, Check once, check twice, but MAKE SURE the Price is REALLY Right! Have a good day, guys". How'bout that for a tagline

again i have to say i am really stunned bob's career closed in such a mundane manner!! i was expecting some greater form of tribute ... they showed a clip of bob's entry on the first show on the HDTV, they played a lot of vintage games but that was about it!
DesiluTrek 4 years ago
That's probably what Bob really wanted. I can say this - he handled his final show (and every other show over the last 35 years) in the most professional manner possible.
BMP
christusvincit 4 years ago
yea i believe bob asked to not have tributes during his last show. as christusvincit said, he finished it off in the most profession manner. Long live bob barker!
slayeroflight9 4 years ago
Wow, I didn't even pay much attention to the fact that all the games played are games from the start of TPIR. Then again, I never seem to catch these things. ;P
