  • awesome~ ^_^

  • Very good job. You have a great authentic, but clean sound and style. I always condone that bow hold you are using. The bow hold is traditional (from the baroque bow holding technique), and it actually helps to articulate notes quicker ( the secret is in the weight distribution). It is not a hard rule that all fiddlers use it, but once they try it, many keep it.

  • You hold your bow very interestingly =D

  • @CoffeeShopification

Being a self-taught fiddler, I've developed all kinds of terrible habits in terms of bow gripping and fiddle holding. Luckily for me I can still get some sound out of the box.

  • @briscott99 I love it man. Whatever works right? I'm a self-taught banjo player and I don't anchor my pinky on the banjo head like most players do. I'm learning the fiddle too and you're playing is quite an inspiration. Keep going =D.

  • Beautifull !

  • Great playing! Thanks for sharing.

  • This is some great fiddling! Love it. Keep posting these old time tunes!

  • Nice tune, good old time fiddlin'!!!

  • nice playing, but why dont you play maryland tunes

  • Shut your gob you fucking cunt.

  • Very well done.

  • Nice old-time fiddlin'!

  • I am learning fiddle right now and this is exactly the kind of sound/style I would like to learn...any recommendations for fiddle players to listen to? Great Job!

  • thanks for the comment. The list of fiddlers to listen to is probably endless. Check out the book "Old Time Kentucky Fiddle Tunes" by Jeff Titon if you are interested in Kentucky fiddling traditions. Some names to check out: Estill Bingham, Clyde Davenport, John Salyer, Jim Bowles, Walter McNew. Check out the Digital Library of Appalachia (website), you can find free recordings of all these people and more.

  • Brilliant! You`ve been fiddling for two years? Holy crap....

  • Well I guess I've been playing fiddle almost 3 years now... started back in August of 05. I'm constantly practicing fiddle and tryin' to get better. Thanks for the compliment.

I enjoy your videos as well. I'm a Marylander myself so maybe we'll run into each other at a jam one of these days.

  • finejob young fella cant his tune be found or is it a neiberhood tune

  • You can find a transcription of this tune in Jeff Todd Titon's book Old Time Kentucky Fiddle Tunes. You can hear this tune played by the source, Estill Bingham, if you search for it on the Digital Library of Appalachia (website).

  • AWESOME!! Estill Bingham is at the top of my list these days. Super groove-y fiddler. I really like your interpretation of this fine tune - as well as your other tunes.

Question: what kind of fiddle do you have there?

  • Thanks for the compliment! This fiddle is an old German Strad copy made by E. Martin... probably made 1910's-20's.

  • wonderful tune, wonderful playing!

  • Bro you are awesome !!

  • Great tune, great bowing. What is the tuning, please? I would like to learn this tune.

  • It's in standard tuning (GDAE), and the tune is in the key of G.

  • Thanks, I'll get to work on it. Keep on posting OT videos, please!

  • Excellent stuff.
