Yes, NCVIA protects vaccine manufacturers. This does not mean that they can't be sued. It does mean that any lawsuit brought against them must go through claim procedures and a special master. It ensures that vaccine makers have a fund set aside to pay for any claims that are established as valid.
To simplify it for you, it means that people have to actually prove that vaccines caused an injury or death. It's a type of torte reform.
Also, NCVIA only deals with injuries or deaths that are caused by adverse reactions to vaccines. It has absolutely nothing to do with anything else, so vaccine makers can still be sued for fraud, illegal business practices, or anything else.

But I think that the main reasons for not using VAERS in a vaccine argument is the fact that they blame deaths from things such as CAR ACCIDENTS and SUICIDES and DRUG OVERDOSES on the vaccines. They even count RUMORS of deaths towards the totals attributed to vaccines (ie- A woman called in and said that her sister told her that she heard on the radio that 100 people had died of the flu vaccine).
The reason anti-vaxers use VAERS as an argument against vaccines is because the numbers sound scary, and the uninformed tend to think VAERS is a credible program that properly investigates the claims submitted. Antivaxers count on people being too lazy or too ignorant to look up the actual VAERS cases themselves.
Telling people not to get vaccinated based on VAERS reports is the same as telling people not to get vaccinated because people get in car wrecks, kill themselves, OD, or die of complications of life threatening preexisting conditions. It's absolutely ridiculous and irresponsible.

I can't believe you're still using this one, too. The reason why the hospitals were against the smallpox vaccines was because the weren't really needed. Why were they not really needed? Because due to an intense smallpox vaccine campaign in the 1970s, smallpox has been eradicated. The last case of smallpox from a wild source was in the 1970s. It no longer exists in the wild. It now only exists in research labs.
The reason why it was suggested that some people get vaccinated against smallpox was in the event of a terrorist attack using smallpox cultures.
But it was felt that the risk did not outweigh the benefits in this matter, which brings up a couple of fundamental flaws in your argument.

my girlfriend is trying to get me back on the vegan diet. I tried it for around 5 months or so and felt amazing. I am just so damn broke right now and my job doesn't even start until the 8th. But hey, what do I know... I got the swine flu shot.
I eat plenty of fruits and veggies lol. Things like soy milk are what break the bank for me. I probably spend 10 bucks a week on soy milk alone and that is too much for me right now. Vitamin supplements are also decently expensive if you want to do it right. Vit D is one of my main concerns based on advice from my cardiologist mother. Please keep up on your vit d for heart reasons! May I ask what your diet consists of on a day to day basis? I would like to go back eventually.

It was because this was a public health emergency and vaccine makers did not have the time to do studies and trials that they would normally do before the release of a new vaccine. It was determined that the risks of an unvaccinated population greatly outweighed the risks of a new vaccine.
And there WERE special funds set aside for compensation of injuries from the vaccine.

Yes, NCVIA protects vaccine manufacturers. This does not mean that they can't be sued. It does mean that any lawsuit brought against them must go through claim procedures and a special master. It ensures that vaccine makers have a fund set aside to pay for any claims that are established as valid.
To simplify it for you, it means that people have to actually prove that vaccines caused an injury or death. It's a type of torte reform.

When I point out that VAERS is an offshoot of NVICP, which was created by the government to ensure that vaccine manufacturers stay in business while matters of vaccine damage are dealt with you jump straight to changing the argument to propaganda and again assert that I want to keep people in the dark, which is completely opposite of what I have done here. The majority of these deaths being blamed on the vaccine were are among people with severe, life threatening preexisting conditions. Their deaths were most likely the direct result of those preexisting conditions, but because they got a vaccine a few days (or 6 months) before they died, you jump on the anti-vax bandwagon.

Considering the amount of people in the world, and how many of them have severe health problems, and how many of them get vaccinated, it's just a matter of statistics how many people will die after getting the shot.
Getting a vaccine isn't going to save a 93 year old man with congestive heart failure from drying from congestive heart failure, but because he died of congestive heart failure a week or so after getting a vaccine, you attribute his death to the vaccine, which is asinine.

But I think that the main reasons for not using VAERS in a vaccine argument is the fact that they blame deaths from things such as CAR ACCIDENTS and SUICIDES and DRUG OVERDOSES on the vaccines. They even count RUMORS of deaths towards the totals attributed to vaccines (ie- A woman called in and said that her sister told her that she heard on the radio that 100 people had died of the flu vaccine).

Because due to an intense smallpox vaccine campaign in the 1970s, smallpox has been eradicated. The last case of smallpox from a wild source was in the 1970s. It no longer exists in the wild. Lol; yes that number is the same for a baby and a man. 50 ppm is a concentration not a set weight, so 50 ppm would mean that the amount of mercury in a man would would tip the scale a lot more than the amount you'd find in a baby. So if you took all the mercury out of a 250lb man and a baby who both have a concentration of 50 ppm; the mercury you pull out of the man would be 25 more than the baby. The highest figure I could find on mercury levels in any vaccine (flu vaccine in multi-dose vials), stated that "Thimerosal Preserved" vaccines can be 50ppm. This is 141 times the amount found in a 5 oz. can of albacore tuna (.353ppm)

When people think of mercury they only think of it in its silvery liquid state, but it exists in many different forms in our environment. People suck up more mercury from the environment in a week than they get in a vaccination. It is impossible for anyone to completely avoid mercury. It would be like trying to avoid the nitrogen in the air.

The only claim I mentioned was putting your resource into a number that people could more easily understand, and it is a conspiracy to cite figures from one govt agency in an effort to make people believe that another agency is trying to cause them harm. Albeit, I've said not to this point about swine flu, but since you mentioned it. The swine flu fiasco was caused by the media blowing the threat out of proportion in an attempt to boost ratings.

@silkcat51 If you want to be pissed at the government then be pissed about them telling us that would could protect ourselves from a biological attack with duct tape, and that hiding under a desk would save us from a nuclear attack. Riving about trace amounts of mercury that is harmless is pointless. Far more people have saved by not getting diseases that vaccinations prevent than have been harmed by them. It all comes down to the math my dear chap.

it was just another flu, like any other. the media was bored, post obama election and wanted to keep the ratings up. so using fear based tactics they publicly tracked a flu bug. i know ppl who got the shot and didnt. i am a 25 year old man, i got the shot. i am average in health. i was sick for 6 months after the shot. ppl who hadnt got the shot were around and in perfect health. if theres another shot, im not fuckin gettin it. fuck that!

@Nrisageri because viruses, like all other forms of life, mutate and adapt. Yes WNV was an avian disease however due to zoonosis it adapted to human and primates it to infect them as well. No different then how SIV jumped to humans and became HIV, or anthrax from sheep and cattle.

@silkcat51 25,000 ppb means that only 0.0025% of the vaccine is mercury. Being that the vaccine is less than 1/4 oz that means the amount of mercury in it would be so minuscule that it couldn't be seen by the naked eye. One would get more mercury from eating a salmon fillet than from a vaccine.

I tkae odorless Garlic tabs, one a day. I take a multi vit, and eat LOTS of Onions, Celery, veggies, and liver 2 x a week. I don't get sick, although I did have this so called global pandemic and was miserable for 2 weeks. had to stay home for one day. big deal. Exercise, laugh a lot, eat well and STAY OFF THE COMPUTER... cut your cable services and live BETTER and ten years longer

my girlfriend is trying to get me back on the vegan diet. I tried it for around 5 months or so and felt amazing. I am just so damn broke right now and my job doesn't even start until the 8th. But hey, what do I know... I got the swine flu shot.

I eat plenty of fruits and veggies lol. Things like soy milk are what break the bank for me. I probably spend 10 bucks a week on soy milk alone and that is too much for me right now. Vitamin supplements are also decently expensive if you want to do it right. Vit D is one of my main concerns based on advice from my cardiologist mother. Please keep up on your vit d for heart reasons! May I ask what your diet consists of on a day to day basis? I would like to go back eventually.
