How sad is it that the comment with the most upvotes fails to understand Chomsky's critique of the media? "The most informed man I have ever seem on American foreign policy why he is not at the forfront of the media informing the dense american public" Why? Because its a propaganda system that gives a false picture. Voices like Chomsky are not welcome in the corporate media.
Chomsky is incredible. He can take very complicated subjects and boil them down to plain talk that exposes the truth to the rest of us knuckle-dragger's.
I agree. It's incredible and at the same time incredibly scary. I fear where the future of the US heading. Not only here on the homefront but especially abroad. Chomsky predicted was in now happening and if his prophecies come true...there is no telling how bad this is going to get. I don't even know if there is anything "we", as US citizens can do. It almost seems like we're past the tipping point!
No doubt he is intelligent, but he also devotes a lot of time to research. This is something the rest of us "knuckle-draggers" have the ability to do as well. In fact, Chomsky writes and talks about this. Check the following books out: Chronicles of Dissent, Keeping the Rabble in Line, The Prosperous Few and the Restless Many, What We Say Goes. I'm sure he addresses it elsewhere as well.
turkey is a terror state, barbaric, ruthless, governed by the rule of killing, torture, a state which silence the voices of kurdish children and women with violance, beating, bullets &killing, with policy of assimilation & annihilation for the last 85 years against the kurds, burning of thousnds of villages, forced migration of millions of kurds, banning the kurdish language & culture, our strive for democracy, freedon & peace rewarded with bulets & imprisonment by the turkish police and army.
The Turkish government has been far worse to the Kurds than Saddam has,one well-educated Kurd said bitterly. His comment stunned me, for Turkey never used poison gas as Saddam did, but one Kurd after another said the same thing. They described past Turkish military techniques like raping wives in front of husbands,or assembling villagers to watch men being tied &dragged to their death behind tanks,&they noted that Turkey had been less tolerant of Kurdish language& culture than Saddam
May be 25-30% of the population is Kurd. So it means that approx. 25-30% of soldiers are Kurds since military service is obligatory . So it means sometimes Kurds are killing and raping Kurds :-) There may be atrocities but they cannot be as harsh as you describe it. If you don't have the knowledge please don't believe anything said without documents. If you bring the proofs, everybody(even the Turks) will accept it.
Unfortunate that the number of views drops off the longer it goes on, I on the other hand can listen to Noam all day. One of the few people you can listen to and become instantly smarter then you were beforehand! Long healthy life Chomsky!
The entire history of the Ottoman Empire and contemporary Turkey is a series of continuous imperialism, slaughter, plunder and endless bloodshed of the people who had the misfortune to be conquered by the Turks.
Greeks, Armenians, Syrians, Arabs, Kurds and Cypriots were the victims of the Turkish brutality. being a NATO ally dosen't exmpt turkey being a terrorist state, stop the atrocities, annihilation of the kurds
probably that the old moron guy was turk, who questioned mr Naom Chomsky on so called USA supplies pkk. but thx Naom Chomsky answered that terrorist turkish state,s mercenary very objectively.
Mr Noam Chomsky is a great not only as teacher of humanity but also as intelectual, honesty, respect for human dignity, and most of all phylantropist and the voice of the helpless nations, like kurds, palastinians and others, thanks for the video
I know, it was weird. Maybe the tape ran out. I emailed Democracy Now and they told me that's all the footage they got. It feels incomplete but that's what we are stuck with.
what i mean is that you can find his analysis of the emerging asian powers (what he was talking about near the end) in his books 'failed states' and 'what we say goes'
i really didnt know that about bill clinton, and now i know thats why hillary clinton is supporting us kurds

This is a pretty bad thing to say but...I'm actually surprised Chomsky hasn't been assassinated yet.
passenger9411 2 years ago
Well, its a bad thing to say, but the reason is just what he has said many times. The (propaganda (internet notwithstanding)) system works.

@RayLaffan "why he is not at the forfront of the media informing the dense american public"
Watch Manufacturing Consent, then you'll know why.

That is how someone becomes a top professor at MIT... By making everyone else in the world look like drooling idiots...
You know a guy is brilliant when the answer to your question involves five fact you didn't know...

Finally the world seems to understand the turkish terror against kurds in south kurdistan.
STOP TURKISH TERROR.
TURKEY HAS COMMITED A BIG GENOCIDE AGAINST ARMENIANS and have been doing a slow genocide against kurds and still do.
