  • wht year model is the sub at 6.17?

  • I own a Tag Heuer Aquaracer 300 metre Calibre 5 and it looks a lot like the Submariner…minus the cyclops.

  • I had a Rolex,, actually prefer the Omega Speedmaster to the Rolex

  • this video is overrated. same watch shown over and over.

  • Awesome video! I've had my non-date Submariner 10+ years now.. :)

  • Here's some advice I got from my Dad (Rolex repairman) some 40 yrs ago: (1) get the exact model you REALLY want and (2) make sure the (winding) crown lines up, either at 6 or 12 o'clock. Do a test yourself someday, go to a Rolex dealer, check each watch to see if the crown lines up, you'll be amazed, FEW of them do. I went to a Boston Rolex dealer once and out of 40-50 of his stock, NONE of them lined up. Even the dealer was incredulous, SHOCKED !!

  • @gaspo2180 I actually knew that, however breitling is just as bad...If I buy a watch I do make sure the crowns (logo) line up. Omega however seem to be alot better at this trick. Great tip though to share.

  • If I had the money I buy it for wearing beautiful on my wrist.

  • I agree why make a watch can be submerged in water thousand feet. That makes the watch get more maintenance that it should be?

  • The "Red" at 4:44 is absolutaly incredible. Fisrt because it's a Sea-Dweller /Submariner !?! and then because the colors are perfect. I would love to have it.

    Many thanks for the video.

  • you guys are missing the point....it is purely a high quality status symbol, that i guess can be utilized as a dive watch...everyone knows how much they cost and no one who has one or is impressed by one cares that they costed $150 in 1957...it is male jewelry...the ladies get the diamond solitaire's while we get our Rolex...

  • I have the watch at 2:45 pointed guard 5512 from 1960

  • Do they all have black dials??? i dont see white dials at all.

  • The deepest ever dive by man was 318.25 meters in 2008. It took more than 12 hours to go that deep. Why do brands make 500 meters water resistant watches ? What for ?

  • These are the ONLY Rolex watches worth buying. In steel only ofcourse...

  • I swear I'm not trolling when I say this but is anyone else bored half way into a coma with these watches? What's the appeal?

  • nice

  • it is a diving watch but divers can't afford it, businessman and rich people buy these watches. why ? why do they need 300m water resistance ? it's bullshit

  • @hunya95 These watches used to be MUCH more affordable, and there weren't as many options for divers. They were a tool that has now become jewelry. The original SeaDweller for example was less than $200 when it came out and while that was expensive for the 60s it wasn't a fortune.

Also, a lot of professional divers are quite well paid and diving is an expensive hobby in itself, so it's quite possible that many of those rich people you see are getting their watches wet on weekends.

  • @MrGalt $200 in 160-69 would be ~$1500 to $1200 today. That would be MUCH more affordable than the 5 to $6K that they go for today. However, when thinking of good diving watches of similar manufacture and material, for instance a Victorinox divemaster, you're looking at $800 on the low end and $1500 SRP for a divemaster limited edition, titanium case and band with pvc coating... it's hard to believe that even these prices ore not inflated. Thoughts?

  • @Pope2501 You're absolutely right. The rugged tool a Rolex once was has given way to the overpriced piece of jewelry it is today. I think I can't post links, but if you were to go to "minus4plus6" followed by a dot and a com, you'd find an interesting link to the price evolution of every Rolex model over on the left. Just as an example, the original Submariner was a $150 watch in 1957, which works out to $1,130 today. Instead the price is right at $6,000. Why? Because they can, that's why.

  • @hunya95 You're right, who really needs a watch that's 300m WR. Most people don't swim pst 10 ft and most recreational diver don't really go past 30m. But then again, why do they make 500 horsepower car that can go 150 +mph?

  • the last watch you showed isnt a submariner, its a sea dweller

  • I have a Sub w/date and love it! Best watch in the world!

  • didnt james bond wear omega?

  • Comment removed

  • @anthonydoh Oh no, my friend. Brosnan started the Omegas with GoldenEye. Before that Roger Moore wore a Breitling, three different Seikos and a Hamilton digital. Bond only wore a Rolex in 11 of the 22 movies so far and since he'll be wearing an Omega Seamaster in next year's film Rolex will no longer even have a majority.

  • @MrGalt , I checked and you're bang right! I have removed my misleading comment.

  • Great video!

  • I offer submariners starting at 179 euro.............

  • @ReplicaNL Those would be fakes, not real Subs.

  • bellissimo video grazie a chi la ha caricato

  • ¡great work!, submariner the watch of the watches..

  • Thank you very much for this fabulous video.

    A Swiss Rolex fan

  • 1:44

    mea culpa

  • 99% of vintage Rolex watches sold are fake. Some fake parts are so good they have made it through Rolex service centers and have been serviced by Rolex.

  • @EarlCamembert 'If a painting can be forged well enough to fool experts, why is the original so valuable?" George Carlin

  • @RebelKnightCSA I miss George Carlin.

  • Superb video!! Next step is to add the new 116610 & 116610LV (ceramic bezels, maxi dials & glidelock clasps), launched at Baselworld last week.

  • 12:57pm Tuesday (CDT) - Time in Corpus Christi, Texas

    1:00 up

  • I bought my Rolex Submariner date(brand new) last fall and love it! I had a Breitling superocean before. No comparison!

  • Wow, this vid was a labor of love. Really nicely done!

Proud wearer of a 5513 Submariner since 7/6/87.

  • this is my only watch. Submariner no data

    ciao

  • glorious

  • Loved your video - But it looks like you forgot the 16600 in your end credits for some reason.

  • @KommentARSCHreiber Rolex was way before Omega in the Bond Franchise. Mostly in the earlier days of Sean Connery and Roger Moore. I love my Submariner. It's very accurate for an automatic.

  • Hi sir does the 2001 submariner 16610 have an extended bracelet?

  • Thank you for sharing. Just a wonderful watch. I got the last sea-dweller may 2009... fantastic video ...

  • Does anyone know which submariner model is the current version? Is the current modell the 16610 or the 14060M? The 14060M have in the inner bezel "ROLEX" engraved and the 16610 doesn't.

  • 14060m is the newer version and it also has the ceramic bezel.

  • I love all Rolex Submariners...I have an M series Submariner...the only one I dislike is the 50th Anniv. with the green bezel I think its awful

  • I agree. Now they have the blue bezel. They shall have remake the 50th Anniv with vintage markings. That would be classic.

  • I loved seeing Steve McQueen, Chuck Yeager and Sean Connery wearing this most beautiful watch. I'd prefer not to see Fidel Castro wearing one but that happens. I have a submariner and love it.

Why did McQueen always wear his watch on his right hand when he was right-handed? I never understood that about him.

Also, Charles Bronson wore a submariner in the movie "The Mechanic".

    Thanks for posting this.

  • Where can i get a Deep Sea Special? lol

  • What year and model is the Sub at 2:44?

  • The model is the first Submariner with square shoulders,

it was introduced in 1959 and the reference is 5512.

    Regards

    John Goldberger

  • @goldberger13 freaken jew

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • I have both of those double hose regs shown and 3 of these Rollies. How exciting for me! Thanks for posting.
