Here's the thing; what got me kicked out many witch covens, Humans are a rash on the Earth. As George Calrin said, "The planet is fine. The planet is going no where. We are fucked!" We are a failed species of primate, it is done already, the Earth will heal Itself after we are gone. We, as a species, are insignificent.
They would have saved a song like this to close out their concerts, much like REO Speedwagon's "Golden Country" or Styx's "Suite Madam Blue". It just has that "crowd killer" thing. Last on the LP, and last on the minds of the fans at the show
The WHITE MAN was way to smart. He said fuck livin peaceful and in harmony. Let us rape and kill these niggers, spics, or anything that isn't pale lookin. If there albino kill em anyway cuz they are just pretendin to be white.
Folks making comparisons to prog metal are quite correct in my humble opinion. :-) Many of today's great prog metal bands were influenced by the 70's prog bands.
Symphony X has some very strong Kansas influence! Not all of their songs but you may hear something you like in the following songs. Listen several times! :-) They are a fantastic band of expert performers and writers
I saw Kansas in Wichita in 75,been an avid fan ever since!!In 97 saw them last, not quite the same without Kerry and Steve is straining but still sounds pretty good. He's now in my vocal range!
Kansas certainly was a prog-metal band, hate to tell you. It’s not a bad thing, it just is what it is. If you hate early metal, you’re missing out on a lot of killer old tunes in the same genre as Kansas. Early Judas Priest comes to mind…
Phil IS rock's best drummer, it's as simple as that, period. ;-) Would probably have preferred Steve on lead vocals, always really, but Robby does an awesome job here!!!!
Listening to Apercu first, and then leading into Death of Mother Nature Suite - it brings tears to my eyes. The absolutely best out of Kansas - probably ever...
I love the changes in this song. They really were a band playing as one. Phil Ehart has to be one of the most underappreciated drummers in the history of rock.
here I am again, commenting on another kansas song. Pick a kansas album, ANY ALBUM, and you'll find music that will really turn you head when you really listen deeper. Modern music can't hold a candle to most of the seventies groups.
@lynn8356 There is just as much modern music that is of great lyrical quality as there was in the '70s: ALMOST NONE. The '70s/'60s'whatever decade was always full of shallow pop, and it's always been hard to find the Kansas and Simon & Garfunkels of each generation. Modern music gave us Starsailor and Vienna Teng, who were never really easy to come by.
This is Steinhardt's best vocals on any Kansas song - EVER! Anyone who says that Kansas didn't have a bit of prog metal in them never heard this song...
@prog4evr Are you Stupid?! Kansas is far from "metal"... and far better as well. "Prog Metal" is a crock of shit, and sir, so are you. How dare you disgrace the name and talent of Kansas by associating them with something as infantile and primitive as metal.
Any one who says Kansas didn't have a bit of "prog metal" has a brain. So, cool it sparky.
@alanpillow1 Metal surely can be infantile and primitive, but it can also be mature and quite interesting. That was a more than slightly close-minded statement.
@prog4evr Agreed with the prog metal party. I'm a little noob, and I've not listened to much older stuff, but these guys reminded me a lot of Symphony X, just not as...metallic!

@lynn8356 I'm not entirely sure of that. Somewhere some band is playing great music, we just never heard of it. Or that's what I like to think.

actually Kansas are prog rock, the root of prog metal, plus they are definitely also hard rock, all you gotta do is check their performances live
