I am former pro player and give lessons for a living. He has great hands but the rock back has got to go. Nomar Garciaparra said the same thing the other night on air during college world series. BUT the fact that he hit .438, 20 plus home runs in Junior college as a 17 year old is amazing. The thing that is going to help him is he will have five years to figure it out. I hit .315 in A ball and hit .258 in AA the next year. They figure you out. But since he is only 17. he is really unbelievable
@wrendogg8 your an idiot dont try to say anything about his swing. he already has made more money before even entering the major leagues before you made in your whole career. And all successful baseball players know, theres no specific swinging technique, its whatever is most comfortable, and if its successful, he is hitting perfect.
@polishsoccerpmp93 First off fuck off. I didnt say anything negative about him. I am a professionall baseball coach and have been with a big league team. it was only for a month, but i did accomplish a goal, so once again fuck off meat. I am not the idiot here, think you need to look in the mirror. just cause he has made more money than me, does not make him any better. I actually praised him. And Nomar Garciaparra said the same thing on espn the other night. I have played more pro ball than y
@polishsoccerpmp93 You are definately the idiot. Go have another beer. There is a specific swing technique dumbass, just like anything everyone is a little different. There is a load, a launch, a contact point, finish and balance. I dont care how someone swings those are techniques you have to have. His body rock back will have to be altered. He is not succesfull because he has a bunch of money. Time will tell if he is successfull. I hope he is, seems like a good kid. So once again, eat shit.
@polishsoccerpmp93 ahahahahhha! Your such an idiot. All successful baseball players know theres no specific swinging technique? Yes, there is, fucking retard. Watch a good hitter, like barry bonds, and the angle of his arms and elbows are the SAME throughout the whole swing. Than go watch some barrel hooking fuck, who pulls the shit out of it, and you'll see the difference between someone who can hit .300 or better and someone who hits .220 with a few bombs.
the only reason it was 502 feet was cause he hit the back of the dome. It would have been further at Tropicana. 570 for this kid is feasable. STOP HATING.
he needs to shorten his swing he cant do were his foot aims to the sky then hit he needs to have a quick step 4 a hardthrower thats what the college coachi s gunna tell him but he is good
you are a dumb ass, you are tell a "Teenager" who hits 750ft shots how to hit. i dont think he needs any help when he is getting paid on a 15 million dollar contract to the nationals hes not going to college, he has already dropped out his sophmore year of baseball so u are an idiot.
i heard he's the biggest douche you'll ever meet. a teamate of mine played in this area code game and hes the number 2 catcher in the nation right now he said this guy is a fuuuucken prick. and other guys on my team played against him in the east cobb tourney they said he doesnt even stay for the whole tournament hes too good
from my impressions on harper, he looks like he could easily play any position on the diamond because he is such a complete 5 tool player and then some. one thing that i havnt seen anybody say is his speed. He can flat out fly. Very good speed to go along with is incredible hustle. Wherever he plays in the bigs he can play any position any day no doubt.
but he will also prolong his offensive career, like Craig Biggio, catching 162 games will wear your knees out, and your speed and power will decrease, so transitioning him to 1st after awhile is a good idea
Not only can he hit but he flies around the base paths, watch for him to develop into a 1st basemen in the majors/minors to unleash his batting attributes for longer
Hey baseballboss30... you said you played with him? Your profile says your 29 years old. Also, in your channel it says youve posted on three of his videos at least and on all of em you say hes on roids. I dunno man, sounds like you are a liar and spreading bad rumors for some reason. you are a faker in some way man, you are basically just a prick.
yeah he only went to one game and played with the San Diego Show, he only came for one game out of the whole week because espn was following him around his house for a while. In that one game he went 4-4 with 2 Hr's at nationals.
@yankeesxsuck344 haha I was there too. We heard that he was playing at a field right by our hotel and we didn't have a game, so we went to watch, and it turned out to be right after he left. I was pissed cuz I was so excited to see him play in person lol.
its almost like hes comparing hs ball to college ball. that he can just walk on by and get drafted. he hasnt seen near enough good competition in high school as compared to college
@christiannolte38 you still standing by that opinion? .443, 31 home runs with a wood bat, winning the golden spikes award, and being drafted number one isn't exactly my idea of fading haha
from what ive seen, heard and read about this guy,,,hes a savage. as soon as he shows the ability to hit big league pitching and call a game,,,the sky is the limit
the only thing i would be worried about is the wear and tear of being a catcher thats why i think they will move him to third in the minors to get a couple more years outta him in the long run
look at the first pitches idiot. and more than likely when hes behind in the count hes not getting a fat FB! bet he hit hangin curves from a crappy hs pitcher! watch the vid before you open your fat mouth
Heres my question who are you to say anything bad about this kid? Are you on the SI cover.... no, Did you hit a 500 ft bomb in in the international power showcase.....no This kids got more talent in his left pinky toe then you do in your whole body. Quit hating...Oh and btw what was the end result of both AB's? Oh yeah 2 lined shots ....shut your mouth
he lunges to his front foot but then once the foot is down his head stops, it is hard to see in this clip but it is what all big league hitters do. Once the front foot is down head movement stops and it all lower half turn and pulling the knob of the bat forward
bat looks like a twig in his hand lol incredible
